the "occupy wall street" dominated the news throughout california and now a poll finds the protesters are getting a mixed reception from state voters. the occupy marches began on wall street in new york city but they soon spread west and swept across california. the camps became entrenched in san francisco, oakland and other cities. overall californians are lukewarm in their support. when asked how much they identify with the movement, half replied not much. 27% said some. 19% said a lot. 5% had no opinion at all. voters had stronger feelings about the economic crisis. the poll asked who is to blame for the problems. the federal government or banks and wall street.

university are coming under crouteny for possibly sweeping the allegations under the rug. we learned the u.s. education department is looking into whether officials violated a federal law. under that law all colleges and universities that receive federal aid are required to publicly report crimthal threats on campus. they had just begun a probe into penn state today when they revealed syracuse university could be next. critics say the rule is almost unenforceable. >> easy to say report all crimes. very hard to get schools to do it and it would be a huge task to actually have every school monitored all the time and enforce those rules. >> criticsies the fine is not enough of a deterrent. the school violated the act, it face as fine of $27,500. the biggest fine was against
