like a double whammy. they will move and allow the clouds to burn off and temperatures will start to warm up as the dense valley fog is not going anywhere. into thursday we'll see a windy pattern more coming up in about five minutes. colder lows, highs and a lot more 60s, here is tara. we are definitely seeing the impact of the fog on the bay area roadways. we have several bridges and this is a look at the golden gate bridges a well as the san mateo and dumbarton. if you look at the toll plaza, this is also under heavy fog advisory. definitely take it slowly on the roadways at the sunole grade, your drive is being looking good at this hour. topping our news this morning, oakland police are questioning several possible suspects in one of the worst

shootings in the city. there are 8 victims including a one-year-old boy. paul chambers joins us now from west oakland with the overnight developments, good morning paul. they are questioning them about that incident and i will tell you, there is some surveillance video i'm sure police have looked at several times. take a look for yourself. it shows three people wearinghood diswalk up start firing on more than 20 -- wearing hoodies walking up starting firing. they are possibly involved in a music video and may have been drinking. officers say at least six people were firing guns and at least 50 rounds were fired, evidenced by bullet markers in the area. all the people who were shot were taken to nearby hospitals

night in oakland. the one-year-old underwent brain surgery -- brain surgery after being shot in the head. we will have an update from the hospital in the last half hour. in overnight knows, they are searching for the gunman who shot and hurt the man there. he had been shot several times and was taken to the hospital where we understand he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening. police are still investigating a motive and so far no arrests have been made. well, within the last 30 minutes, we learned that the parent company of american airlines and american eagle is filing for bankruptcy protection. they will reemerge as stronger company. the ceo said american airlines and american eagle will operate normal flight schedules during the bankruptcy filing process

throughout the holidays and we will keep up didn'ted on that story throughout the -- updated on that story throughout the morning. the end calmment pro -- encampment protesters plan on keeping an overnight vigil and the city will not allow even one tent to go back up. the occupied los angeles encampment remains in place this morning more than 24 hours after the initial deadline for protesters to leave. protesters celebrated the calm survival outside city hall. police showed up earlier in the day and declared it an unlawful assembly but did not forcibly remove anybody. he said protesters will be forced eventually and wants to bring in restraints and minimal force. nc davis will hold a town

hall to discuss the pepper spraying of students who set up an occupied camp there. they called for linda to resign following the crackdown. they showed them pepper spraying the students as they sat peacefully on the ground. she only directed police to take down tents and that incident is still under investigation. also this morning, students in santa cruz are occupying a building. they are protesting tuition hikes and pepper spraying incidents at uc davis. the university has no plans to evict the students at least for now but as a result some services including financial aid will have to move to a different part of the campus now. a contentious meeting ended with a warning to students that

tuition could rise again. >> this is what democracy looks like... >> now students accused the regents of being the so called one percent and they asked themed to get the wealthiest californians to help fund public education with raising taxes. >> we are saying the people who are bangers, -- bankers, they need to sign the high income pledge. >> now the regents proposed to vote to sacramento for approval with a $400 million shortfall. they say tuition could rise again if lawmakers done fix that shortfall. when roll albert smith -- henry albert smith did not enter a court appearance.

he has been held without jail since the november 17th shooting death of jim cap pooh. services will be held at the high school. san leandro police will introduce information from a black friday shopper which handed out side the wal-mart on the boulevard. investigators say a man in his 20s was critically wounded during a struggle with would be robbers. that victim is expected to survive. police arrested one suspect shortly after the shooting. they have been looking for two other suspects and a weapon. now a woman who used pepper spray may have used it in self- defense. they say two groups of shoppers were trying to get to a pal lot

of xbox games. the woman turned herself in, did not answer questions and she was released. a funeral will take place for the marine killed in afghanistan. they received his body yesterday at travis air force base, a procession followed to danville. once in town, students, teachers faculty and parents lined the streets to pay respect. the motorcade passed the san ramon high school where coral graduated one year ago. >> he was one of those kids that his teachers adored. he was a spit fire and a ready smile -- >> coral was killed during his first tour of duty in afghanistan. a public memorial will be held for a soldier in afghanistan. 21-year-old national guard soldier shawn walsh died two years ago from injuries

other span is under a fog advisory this morning. let's look at our maps, we have a bit of an incident here. an injury accident on eastbound bailey road, a driver lost control there and a tow truck is on the scene right now. at the bay bridge, you can see the fog there, people seem to be moving very nicely into san francisco this morning but of course the traffic is light and this bridge is under a fog advisory. another one under the fog advisory, the golden gate bridge, dumbarton and san mateo are also under the advisory so conditions are definitely dangerous. 4:40 let's head over to steve. thank you kindly, we have some fog, valley fog and coastal fog and in between lots of clear skies and temperatures have definitely cleared off. we lose the higher clouds so that will help. the fog will be a pain in the morning if you are stuck in it, although i didn't hit any and

then it is pea soup time. 30s and 40s for almost everybody here. 41 in concord, napa in there fairfield -- they have a little northeast breeze so that will bring some of that valley fog in. there in lies the combination on the two. if it did you got into the 60s, concord 63 and most of that occurred after 2:00 so we will lose the higher clouds and that helps. there is a system digging into the north and that will go into right into nevada kick in to southern california and it will not be until wednesday and thursday, that will get rid of that fog and you may not like it but it's not as bad as yesterday when everybody had it but it is not the case today. there will be a lot more sunshine today. it is a dry pattern. i tell you, i don't see any

. good morning, well we have some fog out there, it's not as bad as yesterday, 50s and 60s and if we get rid of that fog it will be okay. they are investigating a crash that killed a bicyclist. officers were called to the area around 6:45 last night. a male bicyclist was killed on

the scene. one vehicle did stop but a second vehicle may have been involved in that crash. police are looking for that driver and anybody with information is asked to please call santa rosa police. they are looking for the man who deliberately ran down an iran war veteran leaving him in a coma. the man left the jack in the box in a gas station boulevard on gary boulevard early thanksgiving morning. it is believed he was driving a late mazda cx with custom spoke rims. for a closer look click on the hit-and-run on the top page -- >> this oakland man claims he

was beaten by johannesburg. he testified in a courtroom yesterday. he told the jury that he was thrown to the ground while four other bart police officers bunched and kicked him. the incident happened at the oakland bart station six weeks before the fatal shooting of oscar grant. well there is a new problem for herman cane's campaign this morning. a woman in georgia said she and cane had an affair that lasted 13 years. her affair ended a few months before his bid for the presidential nomination. he denies it saying he knows her but was only trying to help her financially. >> i was aware he was married and i was also aware i was involved in a very inappropriate situation. >> the thing i am worried about

pornography on a flight. grant smith appeared in court yesterday and pled not guilty. now a passenger sitting behind smith said he saw smith looking at child pornography. he told a flight attendant and smith was taken into custody. they found 66 pictures on the laptop and the university has placed smith on administrative leave. time now 4:48 the mother of a missing arizona girl has been released. >> i don't care, they don't care about me. >> reporter: they arrested her on suspension of felony child abuse. her child disappeared on october 11th. police say they do not believe the little girl is alive but prosecutors are waiting for more evidence. hunter's neighbors are upset. >> in my heart i think she is

child poe technicaltive in ohio is defect -- child protective services is defending themselves in ohio for taking away a third grader who weighs more than 300 pounds. he was considered at risk after foster care workers determined his weight was a form of medical neglect. they tried to help the boy's mother get the weight down for more than a year and then it went up. the winner of a jackpot has come forward and they plan to spend a large amount of the money.

talking about fog and you may want to leave some extra time to get to work. >> that's right, highway patrol is asking you to take it easy this morning. we saw fog on the way so some bridges are definitely out. look at the way the fog settling in the bottom of your screen, a little spooky. fog is not an issue in some areas but at the san mateo bridge, the bay bridge and the golden gate bridge and dumbarton, are under a fog advisory and we will have an update on which bridges are hit hardest by the fog. >> it's not only valley fog, it is coastal fog so the combination of the two are socking in some areas. we have a dense fog advisory until 9:00 and the key is

didn't as we lose the higher clouds so once we get going the fog will burn off as most of it should. the higher clouds are gone so that allows us to warm up. some really cold lows here, if you have clear skies those lows will plummet. today is thick fog and system is digging into the north, i mean we will crank up the win machine by thursday. very windy, today it is the thick fog, colder lows as you just saw, really brutal challenge on the forecasted highs and in this pattern, it is almost impossible. if you clear the fog, it is sunny and warm. if you don't it's cold. calming down thursday, it looks quiet as we go back to patchy fog, no rain in sight, pam.
