would -- police say the crowd may have been involved in some sort of video for the local rapper kafani tweeted there was not a music video taking place. however, a van with kafani's face had several gunshot on it. now, once on scene, investigators say the people who were shot found their way to nearby hospitals. police say there were at least six shooters and at least 50 shots fired, evidenced by the bullet markers in the area. >> my husband called opd a couple of times. and then a few minutes after that, we heard all of those gunshots. >> reporter: now, people dining at a nearby restaurant had to take cover. b.a.r.t.

trains and the post office's also in the area. so one stray bullet could have hit somebody. we'll stay on top of this story. as soon as i hear more about this, we'll bring it to you. live in oakland, paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you,. many loved ones of the little boy wounded in that attack have been up all night at the hospital. he underwent brain surgery last night after being shot in the head. we'll have an update from the hospital to find out more about the little boy's condition. san francisco police are questioning a possible suspect in a shooting at a mission district but shelter. this happened at last night at 16th and mission. investigators say a 41-year-old man was wounded while he waited for a bus. 7:03. occupy oakland protesters plan to go back to frank ogawa plaza

today and begin a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week vigil. we went out near about an hour ago. we found some people sleeping. one person's up in a tree. they plan to set up symbolic structures like a teepee at frank ogawa plaza but they say they won't sleep a there. one city councilman told ktvu news the city will not even allow one tent to go back up. now, camping permits will expire tomorrow for the former encampment site outside of city hall. about a week ago, police evicted 26 protesters who did not have permits. but those with permits were allowed to stay but they plan to leave on their own by tomorrow's deadline. in the meantime, occupy santa rosa organizers reportedly are planning a re-occupation. a dispute between the napa valley casino and the city of american canyon could threaten

the future of them. allie rasmus has more on. >> reporter: the owners of this card room say the outcome of that legal battle could have an impact on all types of businesses, not just card rooms like there is -- theirs even at 7:00, you can see there's gate a few people out there -- quite a few people out there. we have been out here and there's consistently been 20- plus people playing. they say what the city wants to do is not fair. and this all boils -- boils down to whether the american canyon can charge a $2 tax to everyone who walks through the door. the owners say no, they should not be able to do it. but the city says they could use the revenue.

and they estimate that tax could bring in $700,000 a year. the card room is challenging this and are suing them on the ground that the diddle 2 entrance tax is not legal and it singles out their business. >> how could it be be legal? how can you charge somebody to go into a business? is there any business around here doing this why should we be the only ones? >> reporter: the city responded by charging criminal charges for noun payment of the tax. the casino was in danger of losing its business license because of this dispute. it did get a last-minute reprieve. live in american canyon, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:06. well, this morning, american airlines and its parent deposit

announced they were filing for chapter 11. amr says the reorganization will allow it to reduce its cost and debts and remain competitive. american airlines is the only major u.s. airline that did not file for bankruptcy protection art september 11th attacks. amr has continued to lose money while others return the profitability in the last two years. throughout the chapter 11 process. they and american eagle continue to fly normal schedules, honor current ticket and reservations and fully maintain frequent flier programs. three people are dead after a small plane crashed in the back yard of a suburban chicago home. the plane was carrying a medical patient, his wife and a flight pair med tic a regional airport when the pilot reported having fuel trouble just before is -- just before 11:00 last

7:0. we want to check in with tara in again for sal. what's going on in san francisco? >> yeah. we have a couple of incidents we want to mention. if we take a look at our maps, we have southbound caesar chavez, no injuries there. it's blocking three three lanes there. and there's the fog advisory for the dumb bar ten, golden gate bridges. this is a -- dumbarton, golden gate bridges. the fog seems to be rolling inland there. we'll keep an eye on this for

you. >> thank you irtau raw -- thank you, tara. >> good morning. this is not only inland fog. you may not be able to see the a kroys the -- across the street. dense fog advisory. a quarter mile is good. most locations are near zero. we have the coastal fog. that's a double whammy for us. it's colder out there this morning. cold, damp. a little mist in there. the higher clouds are done. that's a positive. let's focus on the positive. one the sun gets going here a little bit. this will burn the fog off sooner. but we start off with a lot of fog and terrible visibility. it's colder out there. a lot of 30s for temperatures. we'll end up with more 60s. yesterday was a just -- was just a tough call. if you stayed in that fog, it was in the 50s. we'll hold onto that today. i think there will be a lot more sunshine and also in the

valley. so the combination. two, usually the coastal fog is not an issue. nearly breeze. breeze, 3 miles an hour, but still there's -- the component of the two is just kind of sandwiching everyone in. temperatures have been hovering around 39 to about 42 for many. 49 oakland, san francisco. now, very foggy also in parts of the city. mostly clou deydy. areas of fog, i will hold onto some of that fog. if the fog doesn't disappear it won't get that warm. and then we have a system dropping down from nevada. the end result for us will be wind, and a lot of wind. that will take care of the fog. we will focus on the gusts. maybe, 60, 70 miles an hour on thursday. a lot to talk about. colder lows, more sunshine. it's a very dry pattern, maybe all the way to the middle of

the fbi. alison burns reports the feds have seized hundreds of domain names of websites that may be selling counterfeit products. alison? >> reporter: the sites were selling everything from pirated movies to fake august boots and oakley -- ugg boots. this is found we found this morning. the people running it admitted selling illegal downloads. in all 350 domain names have been seized -- seized in the last year and a half. 150 in the lat three months -- in the last three months. some of the other domain names ralphlaurenpolos.org, onlypuma.com.

i hope he's treated fair. >> a judge dismissed the charges against the 5-year-old. a special education student from vallejo do face expulsion after school officials say he brought an unloaded gun to school. the incident happened yesterday at everett academy. classmates told school staff that the 16-year-old boy gragged -- bragged that he had the gun in his backpack. the teen was arrested and booked into juvenile hall. a federal grand jury may be looking into possible misconduct by san francisco police officer. a police union spokesman tells "the examiner" some officers are being called to testify as witnesses at the federal courthouse. the u.s. attorney's office will not confirm or deny a grand jury investigation. this comes after public defender jeff adachi released

uc regents gathered to discuss the budget and protesters sent them a message. >> this is what democracy looks like! >> protesters interrupted the meeting yesterday at mission bay and accused the regents of being part of the 1%. protesters asked the regents to make wealthy californians pay more in taxes. >> but the truth of the matter is, you know, i can only defend the university's position. it's very hard for me to rant and rave. i'm not so powerful that i can demand a particular tax be put in place in san francisco. >> next year's uc budget includes a $400 million shortfall. so the regents say they will

ask state lawmakers to make up the difference and give u.s. more funds to avoid another tuition increase. 7:24. residents in a contra costa county can take out against a proposed water rate increase. the private company that provides water in bay point wants to raise residential prices more than 12% in 2013. that would mean the average water bill which is now about $61 could jump to almost $69 in 2013 and almost $2 more in 2015. other rates would also go up. there is a hearing on the rate increases tonight at the ambrose community center that starts at 6:00 p.m. 7:25. want to check in with tara. >> that's right. the fog has now permeated many portions of highway 4. you can see how crowded the freeway is.

it is 7:30. police in oakland are questioning several possible suspects in a mass shooting. there are eight victims who were injured, including a 1- year-old boy. it happened around 6:00 last night at 7th and willow streets

near interstate 0 -- near 8 0. overnight ktvu obtained surveillance tape. you can see three in hoodies opening fire. investigators say they shot at dozens of people making some type of music video that some are disputing. a little boy was critically wounded. kraig debro is outside of children's hospital where the doctors are treating the child. kraig, any update on -- on his condition? >> reporter: not update on his situation. i have spoken to two people who have knowledge of the situation. a relative and a minister. they just came out of the hospital. the father and family, they are upstairs and devastated, they said, about this. this happened last night around 6:00. eight people wounded. the 1-year-old boy, came here to children's hospital in oakland. friends, relatives were here

grieving last night opening this everything turns out all right. the boy was shot in the head and doctors at children's hospital performed surgery on the boy last night mainly to relieve the swelling. this is simply an unbelievable event. even those not related to the family can sympathize with the mother apain. >> a mother is reallysh hurt about this. >> have some respect for other people's lives. >> it's just terrible. >> the rapper ka fauny is a -- kafani is apparently related to the family. they say he was not shooting a video at the location. we wanted to pass that along to you. i did speak to the cousin.

she said the father was shot in the hand and was treated and released from the hospital. we're still trying to get ahold of investigators to see if we can get more details to see if there's any update on some of the suspects they mentionedded mentioned they had last night. 7:02. san jose police are searching for the gunman who shot and injured a man overnight. police found the man on apple blossom drive. he had been shot several times and was taken to the hospital where we understand he's being treated for injuries not life- threatening. police are still investigating a motive and so far no arrests have been made. the man accused of killing vallejo police officer james kapoot will be back in court. the suspect did not enter a plea at his first court appearance last week. he's accused in the november 17th shooting death of the officer and has been held without bill at -- without bail at solano county jail. the officer's funeral is

scheduled for tomorrow morning at vallejo high school. an apparent murder-suicide has sent shock waves through gilroy. police say a veteran san jose police sergeant apparently killed his wife and then turned a gun on himself inside their gilroy home. coming up at 7:45, what neighbors are saying about the incident. 7:33. the coast guard has called off the search for a missing paddleboarder near half moon bay. investigators say rodrigo ruiz went out to the ocean alone. he never came back to shore. the coast guard launched an air and ground search but there were no signs of the missing paddleboarder. steve says we're gonna get windy weather tomorrow and pg&e is bracing for possible outages. this is video earlier this year in brisbane.

well, those crews are busy again. wind reaching 30, 35 miles an hour expected in parts of the bay area this week. pg&e says the winds could topple tree limbs and power lines. again, steve paulson will have much more on the windy forecast in just a couple of minutes. the chancellor of uc davis will hold a town hall meeting for faculty today to discuss the pepper spraying of students who set up an occupy camp. some have called for the chancellor to resign following the november 18th crackdown. video shows a campus police officer pepper spraying students as they sat peacefully on the ground. the chancellor said she only directed police to take town tents. the incident is under investigation. at uc santa cruz, student protesters are camping inside a campus administration. the students entered the building yesterday and set up their tents. they are protesting hikes and

that pepper spray incident at uc davis. the students can remain in the building at least for now. 7:35. we're finding out about another black friday attack at a bay area shopping mall. police say this one involved a deranged woman at the oakridge mall in san jose. investigators say the woman pulled out a hammer and hit a man in the head while he was shopping at macy's. police say the woman did not know the man and the hammer attack was completely un-- unprovoked. the man was not seriously hurt. the woman is undergoing psychiatric evaluation at the county jail. later, police will give us more information about the shooting after black friday shopper in -- in this city. this happened outside the walmart in hesperia. a man was critically wounded during the struggle with his would-be robbers. that victim is expected to

arrive. police have been searching for other two suspects as well as a weapon. 7:36. the big business story is american airlines filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy. pam cook has more. >> well. bankruptcy protection is meant to do just that -- protect the company from creditors. right now it could use protection from wall street. the stock opened at $1.1.62. it's now trading at about 20 cents a share. the decision was not made because the company is completely out of cash, they say, but rather it's a strategic move. >> i think we concluded the gap between our cost structure and the rest of the industry had become too wide and really nothing we could sustain earlier earlier.

right on the khost and then also out in the little -- also out in the valley. there's been a breeze coming in. and then a westerly breeze over by the coast. that's just sandwiching us in between. a lot of low 40s. temperature comes up a little bit. but the visibility has been terrible. but this will probably today and tonight maybe early, will it be for the fog. the system will drug into nevada. give them a dusting the snow. they need a feet. we'll get an offshore wind. there are hints it could be very strong. we'll deal with that tomorrow. today, we have to tackle this dense fog and also the coastal fog. it will otherwise be sunny today after that fog burns off, if it does. it's a dry pattern. i hate to say this but there's

just out this morning, a research group says consumer confidence in november rose to the highest level since july. there's also some optimism about reaching an agreement to avoid a dry sis in europe. and -- crisis in europe. and the s&p says it may cut the french outlook. and oil falling below $98 a barrel amid european debt concerns. right now, the dow is up 84. nasdaq is up 12. s&p is up 10. also big news on wall street," the wall street journal "reports that facebook is taking steps to become a public company next year. the paper says they plan to file for it's initial public

offering early in 2012 and that would set up the world's largest social network to go public in april and june. "the wall street june" is saying they are looking to raise more than $10 billion in the ipo, which would value the company the -- which would value the company at $100 billion. san francisco is one of three big cities where home prices dropped more than the national average. the lacest index out this morning shows 17 of the 20 largest cities had a decrease in home prices. the national average was .610. the new report is just the latest evidence.

8:39. three people have died after a small plane from georgia crashed in the backyard of a suburban chicago home. the plane was carrying a medical patient, his wife and a flight paramedic to a regional airport when the pilot reported having fuel trouble. this was just before 11:00 last night. the patient's wife and a third person, we don't know a name, all died in that crash. the authorities say two others on the plane are expected to survive. no one on the ground was hurt. :35. well, american airlines is filing for chapter 1 -- chapter 11 bankruptcy. the company's president just held a news conference. pam cook is in our newsroom right now watching all of this -- all of this. so what are they saying? >> well, the board of directors from american airlines determined that a chapter 11 reorganization is in the best interest of the company and its share hold.
