happened earlier this morning at the pacific east mall. police responded to shoots being fired just after 1:00 this morning. police tell us the victim is a security guard that works for that bar. police say he was shot but is in stable condition and is expected to recover. police have had a chance to talk to him already and other witnesses at the scene. they told police that the suspect in the shooting got angry at the guard and then shot him after the security guard asked the suspect to leave. this was right around closing time at 1:00 this morning. this is the second shooting in richmond just this weekend. yesterday afternoon a 46-year- old man was fatally shot as he walks down griffin drive. police have not released the name of that victim just yet. they do have a person of interest in custody in connection with that shooting that happened yesterday afternoon in broad daylight. the weekend violences on the heels of a meeting and a crime

victim remembrance ceremony. there have been 26 homicides this year and richmond. there were 21 homicides in all of last year. the crime rate has improved in this city compared to two years ago in 200947 people were kill -- in 2009, 47 people were killed in violence that year. police are supposed to give us information on the vehicle that was seen leaving the scene of the shooting that happened this morning. we'll have more information on that for you about a half hour from now. live in richmond allie rasmus. new this morning all lanes of highway 101 are back open after a fatal collision involving a bicyclist. the bicyclist was hit just before 11:00 last night. just north of broadway. all lanes were closed for an hour as highway patrol investigated the victim an adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. two people are in critical condition after thousands of

fans stormed the field at oklahoma state university. they beat the sooners last night 44-10. when the clock ran out fans swarmed the field and tore down two goal posts. 14 people were injured. two were flown to the hospital. some people were trampled. and back here at home a railing on the bleachers at at & t park collapsed last night. it happened after a celebration right after the championship game. some fans sucherred minor injuries. some suffered minor injuries. herman cain is getting out of the gop race. he held a rally where he announced he is suspending his campaign. that comes less than a week after a woman came forward to claim an extramarital affair. the one promise cain made during that atlanta rally. thousands of people were

evacuated from a city in germany so they could defuse a bomb. this was the bomb that was found last week. it was next to another bomb that had been dropped there by u.s. forces during the war. more than two dozen smaller world war ii bombs were found. officials say it would cause massive damage if it detonated. cal train was delayed. the first happened after 11:00 yesterday morning. officials say a train heading north hit a person at the california avenue station in palo alto. the second incident happened an hour later when a southbound train struck a woman just north of the menlo park station. service was slowed for several hours while both scenes were investigated. officials would not speculate if the two were accidents or

suicides. the deaths were the 15th and 16th on the cal train corridors. we have a double shooting outside of a bar. one person is dead and a 17- year-old and 23-year-old men are both under arrest. they were arrested in front of the restaurant. it started as a fistfight and one suspect came back with a handgun and shot the two men. one died at the hospital. the other is in serious condition. concord police are investigating a tragic case of animal abuse. we want to warn you some of the video is graphic. this is video from new hall park. five geese were found dead there. all with bullet wounds. our cameras spotted more injured geese. animal control was called back to that park. one animal control officer says this is the worst part of his job. >> it's not something you get used to. it's one of the reasons i'm in this profession. i like to find these people.

>> this is not the first incident. on november 9th, 17 dead geese were found. officers say all the geese were shot which is why they think the cases are connected. anyone with any information is asked to call concord police. thousands of northern california residence are still without power after high winds knocked down trees and power lines. pg&e crews have been working in santa cruz county where several lines are down. as of last night, 5700 customers are still without power. about 1,000 customers are without power in the east bay and san francisco. we are waiting to hear back from pg&e for an update this morning when they expect power to be restored. good morning, to you. 7:07. two minutes until the official sunrise. you can see here we have another beautiful morning in store. if you will step outdoors, bundle up. it is very cold out there.

a hat. new this morning it is decision day in russia. president dimitri and his wife cast their ballots in moscow for their parliamently elections. the communist party claimed that united russia party may be involved in russia fraud. now they hold a two-thirds majority in the russian parliament. george w. bush and his family remain in africa for their five-day tour of the continent. the former president, wife laura, and daughters barbara and jenna met yesterday. they traveled to an orphanage and earlier in the week the bush family flew totanus inia to promote aid awareness. 7:14. here at home president obama and the first lady will host the kennedy center honorees tonight at the white house.

this is the third year in a row the president has hosted the honorees. some included sir paul mccartny and oprah winfrey. the president and first lady will attend the official ceremony at the kennedy center after tonight's white house reception. the president will welcome steven harper to the white house. that comes a few weeks after the president met with the prime minister at the apex summit in hawaii. they plan on discussing several issues including the economy, security, and other global topics. in our election 2012 coverage a major shakeup in the gop race herman cain announced yesterday he's suspending his campaign after allegations of infidelity and sexual harassment. john roberts attended cain's announcement and n atlanta and now reports what is next. >> reporter: with the day

toy drive. last holiday season they donated 40,000 toys to 25,000 children. >> i remember getting my first bike and it's a great feeling. there is a lot of kids that are fortunate enough to receive gifts this time of year. >> this is the 12th year in a row san francisco bar pilots have partnered with firefighters. thousands of people filled the streets of oakland for a holiday tradition. that is the sounds of the mission san jose marching band playing in this years oakland children's holiday parade. it was a great time out there. that parade featured several bands, dancers and cheerleaders from local high schools and your favorite characters from the pbs shows. santa hitched a ride as well. the holiday parade is going to air on ktvu later this month. >> good time? >> it was a great time.

shots ring out at a richmond shopping mall and a security guard in the hospital. i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm mike mibach. we have been talking with police this morning getting more details about what happened at the pacific east mall in richmond. that is where a guard was shot overnight. allie rasmus is live this morning in richmond with new information. >> reporter: that security guard as you mentioned is the victim of this shooting. he's recovering in the hospital and is expected to be okay. in fact, he's already talked to richmond police investigators about what happened early this morning. police responded to a call about shots being fired at the pacific east mall. on pierce street in richmond. and this security guard works for a bar that is located inside the mall. he told police it was just after 1:00 around closing time

when the suspect and a group of people tried to get into the bar. the guard told them to leave because they were closing and that is when witnesses say the suspect got upset with the guard and shot him. the security guard is in stable condition. in the meantime richmond police tell us they are looking for the suspects vehicle. it's described as a late model, four-door green lexus. investigators believe they have reason to suspect that the man may be heading toward oakland. this is is the second shooting in richmond just this weekend. yesterday afternoon around 1:30 a 46-year-old man was fatally shot as he was walking down the street on the 800th block of griffin street. police have not released the victims identity. police lieutenant says they do have a person of interest in police custody in connection with that shooting. fatal shooting that happened yesterday. richmond has had a total of 26 homicides this year. they had 21 homicides in all of last year. coming up in the next half hour we are hoping to talk with the police lieutenant to get more

information about this recent shooting that happened early this morning. live in richmond allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. new this morning several people have been arrested after riot police moved in on an occupy encampment in portland. >> you must clear the intersection. failure to do so could result in your arrest. >> officers started detaining protestors around 8:30 last night. 30 minutes after the park closed. protestors had set up tents earlier in the day even though police said overnight camping was not allowed. it was a peaceful night for occupy san francisco after a daytime march through four neighborhoods. [ music ] yesterday's march focused on the need for housing. occupy protestors called for an end to foreclosures. they also demanded fair treatment for tenants and the

homeless. protestors wound back up a the justin herman plaza. occupy l.a. protestors are back on the street. yesterday about 200 people protested outside a men's central jail. they carried signs that included drop the charges. a man's body was found at an occupy camp site at the university of north texas. the body was discovered yesterday by members of the school's police department. university spokesman says no one else was at the encampment when police arrived. the man's identity has not been revealed and an autopsy is being scheduled. the city ofays palo alto is cleaning up a dump. tomorrow the city will break ground on the project that includes creating a nature park. it will also lane up the soil which currently contains toxins such as mercury and arsenic.

this morning two families are living in temporary housing after a duplex fire in oakland. it happened around 5:20 last night on the 9300 block of walnut street. the fire started outside and quickly spread right through the two unit complex. firefighters put the flames out in minutes. no one was inside at the time of the fire. the two families will be in a nearby motel for the rest of the weekend. the cause of the fire has not been determined. oakland police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital. it happened at 6:00 last night. one person was wounded and taken to the hospital. his injuries were not life threatening. no arrests have been made. south based soldier killed in afghanistan was laid to rest. walsh that was killed in combat

okay. he already spoke with investigators about what he saw and heard. yesterday afternoon a 46-year- old man was shot while he was walking down the street on the 800th block of griffin drive. it happened in broad daylight. police have not released the victims identity. they do have a person of interest in connection with that shooting in custody and they hope to make an arrest soon. the weekend violence comes on the heels of a meeting and crime victory remembrance ceremony. richmond's mayor says there have been 26 homicides in richmond this year. there were 21 in all of last year. the mayor says the crime rate has improved compared to two years ago in 200947 people were killed in homicides in the city of richmond. live in richmond allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. right now all lanes of highway 101 in burling game are

back open after a fatal collision. a bicyclist was hit just before 11:00 last night. all lanes were closed for more than an hour after the highway patrol investigated. a victim and adult man was pronounced dead at the scene. new this morning two people are in critical condition after thousands of fans stormed the field at oklahoma state university. oklahoma state beat the soonerst last night 44-10. when the clock ran out, fans swarmed the field and tore down the two goal posts. 13 people were injured. two were flown to a hospital with serious injuries. some people were trampled while one man fell 15 feet on to concrete during the celebration. here at home a railing on the bleachers at at & t park collapsed last night. it happened during a celebration right after the ccs division championship game. some fans did suffer minor injuries. the wildcats beat the irish 21- 14. concord police are investigating a trannic --

other is in serious condition. cal train is running normally after two people were killed on the tracks within an hour of each other. the first time it happened just after 11:00 yesterday morning. a train heading north hit a person at the california station. a second one happened an hour later where a southbound train struck a woman north of the menlo park station. service was slowed for several hours while both were investigated. officials would not speculate if the two accidents were accidents or suicides. the field of republican and presidential hopefuls is now smaller. >> with a lot of prayer and soul searching i am suspending my presidential campaign. >> herman cain made the announcement yesterday in front of hundreds of supporters. it came after a woman claims that she and cain had san affair for more than a decade.

overnight shooting is the latest incident of violence in one east bay city. welcome back to mornings on 2. a security guard was shot outside a bar in richmond a few hours ago. >> it happened just 12 hours after soot man was killed in broad daylight. allie rasmus is live at the richmond police department with new information about both of those shootings. >> reporter: the security guard that was shot is reekerring in the hospital. he's in stable condition. he works for a bar that is located inside the pacific east shopping mall. witnesses told police early this morning around 1:00 closing time when a suspect and group of people tried to get into the bar. the guard told them to leave because the bar was closing. and that is when witnesses say the suspect got upset with the

live in richmond allie rasmus. 8:31. this morning two families are living in temporary housing after a duplex fire in oakland. it happened around 5:20 last night. fire officials say the fire started outside and quickly spread right through the two unit complex. firefighters put the complex out in two minutes. the red cross said the families will be in a new -- oakland police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital. it happened a the 35th avenue and school street. one person was wounded and taken to the hospital. his injuries were not life threatening and no arrests have been made. a south based soldier killed in afghanistan has been laid to rest. a funeral was held for 21-year- old sean walsh while she was killed in combat on november 16th. his mother has set up a
