standing behind the metal barricades. it is a much larger police presence that was out here earlier. up to 4:00 there had been 60 people sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the federal reserve billing. group of occupy protestors and supporters had started gathering at the spot at the main camp and broken up last week. this morning at 4:00 a.m. there were more than 100 police officers in riot gear lined up along market and drum streets. >> they said anyone with sleeping bags on the sidewalk could face arrest. >> 55 people were arrested and they had some of their hands tied behind their back. then the department of public works came in to haul away the protestors longings. one protestor told us the group did not set up tents or structures at the newest occupy camp because that would prevent police from coming in and

breaking up the camp. >> first amendment rights. and we are out here protesting every day. human beings need sleep. that is just how it works. >> you can live on a public street to set up cooking utensils and bed stuffs. and book shelves and accoutrements and commence to live there. we asked people over and over again. confine it to a smaller area. leave the sidewalk open. and they declined. >> reporter: police say before the arrest this morning, they had given the group here about a day and a half of warning. many of the officers said they came and spoke personally to the protestors telling them they could not stay out here and set up a new camp. department of public works ultimately took away four truck loads of personal belongings. they will be able to get their stuff backle and the 55 people who were arrested here this morning will be cited and

released. live in san francisco, alley rasmus, being channel 2 news. this could come in the bay area tomorrow. they plan to shut down the port beginning at 5:30 in the morning. they will march from the west to the port of oakland and there will be an after rally at frank ogala plaza. people were detained after a high speed chase through the bay area. >> they were swerving near the by bridge toll plaza. chased it from oakland and speeds exceeded 100 miles an hour. it exited the highway before going into a pole. power is not fully restored until 10:30 this morning. a fourth person in the carrie mains at large. >> a hayward man is dead after

being hit by a van in his wheelchair. it happened at gear street and patrick avenue. the driver of the van was not hurt and stayed at the scene of the crash. officers do not believe drugs and alcohol were involved. the name of the victim is not released. 10 people are looking for new place to live. we want to show you a photo of the flames sent to us by a viewer. 100 firefighters were called to the scene at utah street. it began just before 10 last night. it did take an hour to get it under control. >> the firefighters said everyone made it out safely. >> we have no injury to civilians and the firefighters are actually able to remove this from the building. there are no casualties as a result fire. >> they do not know how or where the fire started the it did spread to the building next door. it was not heavily damaged. they are helping the shelter and the displaced people.

>> it is another fire in the tenderloin. and it began before 5:30 in the back room of a fifth floor apartment. the hallways and stairwells filled with smoke. some say they never heard smoke alarms go off and they said it was the siren from the fire trucks that alerted them. >> i smelled the fire. and then no alarm went off p if we were asleep, we would have been dead. >> six people were taken to the hop treated for smoke inhalation and injuries. red cross are helping residents. it is still being investigated and firefighters say it does appear to be suspicious. >> they were sending care packages to a group overseas. and it bank account is swiped clean. south bay blue star moms is the latest victim in the data

laundering. he still faces prosecution for his iron rule. they allowed them to serve their time under house arrest. a convicted murderer is dead and his prison cell mate is the one suspected of killing him. department of corrections say anthony steadham was found unresponsive in his cell early yesterday morning. he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. they say the cell mate is responsible. the death come as few days after 11 inmates were hurt during a riot in the same prison. three people are dead from an earthquake in mexico. it hit before 8:00 last night. it could be felt in parts of nine states. it knocked out power in some places. >> no major damage is being reported. >> state of emergency is in effect for los angeles county.
