protests. kraig debro is live to explain what happened. >> reporter: if any of you saw any of the coverage yesterday evening, you saw nothing but people down here at the port of oakland. look at this. this line of trucks right here on the inside of the lane, it was only about two trucks when we first got there. if you look on the other side, there was a line of trucks coming this way trying to get in the port of oakland. this comes after a day of protests. alording to the protest -- protesters -- i according to the protesters it won't be the last. occupy protests protested when the longshoremen -- >> it's a 24-hour shutdown for

trying to get caught up. kraig debro, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, kraig. new documents show oakland police approved the use of tear gas on occupy protesters in the days before a violent clash near frank ogawa plaza back on october 25th. operational plans for the raid show the department authorized using chemical agents to disburse crowds if it is needed. two investigations are now underway into this raid on the 25th of october. and a small group of tree sitters who were part of the occupy protest have been evicted. they dismantled objects in the sycamore trees. the tree sitter was not there when they took over the

miguel drive. deputies arrested an acquaintance and he's being held on $1 million jail. investigators are still trying to figure out what started a fire this morning that seriously damaged a menlo park home. it broke out on ringwood drive just across from menlo atherton high school. firefighters were able to keep flames from spreading. firefighters say this may have smoldered in the vents above the stove and reignited. the home may have to be demolished because flames got into the attic. pinole police are searching for a gunman in connection with a shooting inside an in and out burger inside a restaurant. police say the victim was sitting in the car when he was shot. it happened at 5:00 last evening. at last check, the victim was in the hot.

investigators don't believe the shooting was random. they believe it was targeted. investigator says they saw a man running from the parking lot who may have been involved in shooting. a man accused outside of a san leandro walmart is expected to be in court. an arraignment is set for detwaun watson, he's charged with attempted murder, two counts of attempted robbery and one count of robbery. one man was wounded. police are still looking for two other men believed to be it involved in the shooting. there are reports a suisun city teenager may have lied about being kiched because she's -- kicked because -- kidnapped because she's pregnant. it's reported that the teenager made up the story and would so be relieved to see her they

would not be upset about the pregnancy. she could face criminal charges for making a false report. a fremont man has been ordered to stop running a sperm bank out of his home. investigators say he did not take the legal precautions to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. for the past five years he's been giving his sperm away for free to falls short on cash. >> a lot of the people that come out cannot afford the sperm bank method or their insurance company doesn't cover those treatments which can run into the thousands of dollars. >> he says he's fathered more than a dozen children of all races an from all economic backgrounds. this morning to the surprise of many, jerry sandusky skipped the

preliminary process and his case is going straight to trial. he's facing charges that he abused boys. here's more. >> reporter: in a shocking twist, former penn state coach jerry sandusky is waiving his right to a preliminary hearing. as proceedings -- as proceedings got underway he says his -- his attorney said he is prepared to to go to trial. >> stay the course and fight we'll wait to present our side. >> we would have heard about the allegations and not not been able to cross-examine them. >> reporter: the prosecution says 11 witnesses were ready testify against sandusky and will at the trial. ultimately, the prosecution says those witnesses are been fet egg from today's -- are

benefiting from today's developments. >> i want to emphasize what it would mean for the victims without creating a second record, and not having to go through the pain and suffering that's brought by a case like this. an attorney for one of the alleged victims who was set to testify agrees. >> i can imagine this is terrific for my client as well as the other victims who now don't have to relive the horrors that they experienced. >> the prosecution says there are no ongoing discussions for a plea bargain. sandusky remains under house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet. there had been an arraignment set for january 11th where jerry sandusky was to have entered a plea in this case. he's already entered the plea. he entered it today and he's not guilty.

also we're told the defense is not entering any defense agreements, that would -- that would essentially mean life in prison. back to you. people who walk dogs for a living in san francisco may soon have to obey new rules on city property. the board of supervisors heard a proposal to require commercial dog walker permits. the plan is designed to create standards for pet behavior in city parks. the plan would limit the number of dogs. a permit would cost about $250. the supervisors will consider the plan for approve next year. in a press conference in sacramento going on right now, governor jerry brown is outlining how deep mid-year budget cuts may have to be. the cuts come after the state failed to meet a $4 billion projected increase in tax

revenue. public education faces the largest cuts. the uc and csu systems could lose $100 million each. classes could go up $10 a unit. this comes on top of a $10 deficit projebtded for the -- projected for the new year. we'll have more on this at 6:00 on the news. republicans are set to put their plan toeks tend ted tax to a vote. the plan contains several provisions. the bill would extend a pay freeze for federal workers, charge seniors more for their premiums and it also requires work to be started on a proposed pipeline from canada to the gulf coast. >> i believe it will pass with bipartisan support. >> we can't leave for the holidays without passing a may roll tax cut for the middle

the palo alto software company celebrated its launch on wall street. they cheered their new listing on the nasdaq stock exchanges. it sold more than 13 million shares at $12 apiece, raking in more than $160 million. right now the stock is hovering above $15 a share. the company offers cloud-based business software. also about one hour ago, the federal reserve announced it is leaving its monetary policy on hold as europe's fansal -- financial cry --

financial crisis continues. tonight, the east palo alto city council is expected to discuss the potential impact of facebook's planned expansion. the company's move to the former site of sun microsystems is expected to increase traffic and display some low income residents in east palo alto. city leaders are reviewing an environmental impact report and are considering seeking this to offset costs. and google watts to pay the city of mountain view up front to help with future plant for expansion. they are offering more than $2 25 million to hire a city planner and civil engineer to help keep up with the workload of the company growth. tonight, the city council is
