good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we begin with developing news this noontime out of san jose where police are looking for an armed carjacking suspect. milpitas police chased the suspect to a south san jose neighborhood near cast drive. these are live pictures from newschopper2 of the scene. you can see some police there. it looks like they -- they are

hand kfing someone right now -- handcuffing someone right now. we're following the story. we have another information, the suspect apparently crashed the car around 8:30 this morning, got out of the car and fled on foot. he's been hiding ever since. police have shut down the neighborhood in the areas of seven trees boulevard and capitol expressway look for the suspect. it's believed he's armed with a handgun. he was driving a silver bmw. no injuries have been reported. ktvu's robert handa is at the scene now and joins us with more. so robert, were we just seeing the suspect being handcuffed, by chance? >> reporter: well, they were handcuffing somebody earlier who might have been assisting the suspect. so we're not sure if the video you saw is actually the suspect who was considered at-large a few minutes ago. we're in the area of seven trees in south san jose. as you can see behind me. there are a number of law

enforcement vehicles assisting milpitas police as they search for this carjacking suspect of as tori mentioned, the actual carjacking took place in milpitas but the suspect and the vehicle were spotted and were pursued into the south san jose neighborhood. he went into the house, into the neighborhood and they were going door to door to see if they could find him. looking for -- they were look for. a homeowner came out. he came out armed with a golf club like he might have been trying to fight the suspect. anyway, he came out and sped off in the homeowner's car. so the carjacking suspect in milpitas carjacked a car here in san jose and that's what he fled in. here's a picture of the suspect. his name is jerrick brown. he's described as 5'10" and we

don't know if he was ap plea hended recently -- yap prehended recently -- apprehended resently. they didn't know what direction he went to. but again, brown, is the person they are looking for. and they say until they know that the person they have in custody is in fact the person they were looking for. he knows a number of people in the neighborhood. until they know for sure that's him, the alert is still out for brown. he's considered armed and dangerous. we'll give you an update as soon as we get more details. >> we'll check back with you soon. robert handa joining us live from san jose. crews are working hard to get to the bottom of the power block problems at the 49er gay. the 49ers still won.

tara moriarty is live and it looks like we're hearing from the coach, i believe at 49er headquarters. tara? >> reporter: we're here at 49er headquarters where a press koch presence just got underway. we're told that -- press conference just got underway. we're just told that the coach harbaugh -- he wants to wait until the investigation is complete. we just got off the phone with pg&e and a spokesperson tells us that the city of san francisco was at fault for the first outage that hanked just before kickoff. i was at that game saw sparks flying from a power pole in the parking lot. it actually looked like fireworks. i took some video on my cell phone camera. pg&e said the city failed to operate a auto transfer

properly but mayor lee contradicted that and the -- the lights went out. no one was allowed back in for 30 minutes. >> obviously, this is embarrassing. the primary thing we did that was done well. we declared public safety to be the most important thing last night and i need to thank all of the fans out at candlestick last night. they performed and were very good and keeping themselves calm. >> reporter: the next yowdge happened -- outage happened dur the next quarter. >> when the power went out you could see the crowd getting anxious. >> we were in line.

hurt. investigators say the thieves stole scbrulry and ran -- jewelry and ran. they are not saying how much jewelry was taken. vallejo police are searching for a gunman who shot a convenience store clerk during a robbery. it happened at the village market on sonoma boulevard. they say two men wearing mags, walked into the store and made everyone get on the ground. they robbed the store and police say the clerk's injuries are not injuries. the body of kim jong-il is lying in state this noontime. north korea's state-controlled television aired these photos of him in a glass coffin. kim jung and his officials, kim jong-un, who wrong the officials who paid respects. a state funeral is set for

conciliatory. the debate over whether or not the protesters shutting down the port of oakland is free speech or illegal, moves to the city council meeting where there was a vote on this, a resolution scheduled. eight days's members of occupy oakland and their supporters effectively shut down the port of oakland. when longshoremen refused to cross, no work was getting done. it came after city officials promised to prevent it. >> i think -- >> you sent a message that you're not going to allow something to happen and then it happens. i think the shippers and businesses and all of those people will have second thought next time to use oakland. >> reporter: the resolution seeks to give the city administrator the power to prevent future shutdowns. the resolution also pro-- also

wall street. there is encouraging signs out of europe after consumer coosh consumer confidence grew unexpectedly in germany and spain pummed off a debt option and there's more evidence the u.s. will avoid slipping into another recession soon. the dow was up 329. that's up almost 3%. the nasdaq is up 3%. s&p is up. we'll take another look at the numbers at 2 12:25. president obama called on house republicans to act on the issue of extending a payroll tax cut. the house this morning officially rejected a senate measure that would have renewed the cuts for 60 days. they want a longer-term solution and they want the senate to come back from vacation to work out a

once again, checking the markets, they are up big time due to good news from europe and the u.s. housing industry. cisco is up 4%. currently the -- google today, announced another major sole initiative. when the project goes online next year, it's expected to provide enough power for more than 14á,000 homes.
