at 6:01 let's go back to the desk. during the night occupied protesters clashed with police in berkeley. several were injured during the scuffle. tara moriarty is out at the berkeley encampment and i know there are a couple of tents still out, there, tara? >> reporter: that's right, you can see there are a you couple of tents over here, a couple of supplies, blankets and you can see the majority of the tents are here. now despite the police inn assistance that they leave, they have no intention of going. >> here they come, look out, behind you, behind you, whoa! that was absolutely ridiculous. >> reporter: now early this morning police tried to evict

the protesters and they were supposed to be out by 10:00. police took some tents down backed off and left. later around 2:00 a.m. city trucks drove by with tents and that's when protesters tried to take them back. police moved in and used excessive force. >> i was doing nothing. i understanding as far away from him as i am from you. >> reporter: city officials are fed up with crime, dog bites and unsanitary companies. they say interest are bad seeds out there and they want the people to stay through the holiday season. live in berkley tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. our time is now 6:03. another occupied camp has been removed on the campus of san

francisco state. they set up tents earlier this month however university officials say they can't say during the holiday break. after negotiations they finally took the camp down this week. we have more on why nurses are planning on walking off the job, lorraine? >> reporter: you are right, nurses will be out here, almost 2000 striking out here. they have already arrived on the scene and they are ready to picket. hospital management is also out here and you can see they have extra security in front of them. let's look at what it looked like the last time and during that strike a patient died.

these nurses are highly skilled and well trained but some patients are a bit worried about coming to the hospital during the strike while others are changing their appointments. >> nurses go on strike as they have in the past and it was a sad incident during the strike. i think they happen every day and i think we are aware of it because of the strike but it does not concern me that nurses will be going on strike. >> about 10,000 will be out here starting at 7:00 a.m. striking nurses can't compact into saturday morning. for now we are reporting live from oakland ktvu channel 2 news. an officer involved shooting in richmond underway.

police rushed to the extented stay hotel after getting reports of a man with a gun. when police arrived to the man had left the extended stay hotel and was spotted at the marriott next door. one officer tried to stop him but could not. then shot the man in the torso. he was taken to the hospital in serious condition and he is expected to survive. they overstated the number of new jobs proposed by the high speed rail projects. pew sourcers say it had -- do a few -- >> a few sources say it will bring less and will also support retail and restaurant work. in washington the payroll

when they let this man on that flight. he admits he tried to blow up the plane while in his underwear. he is still waiting to be sentenced. richard williams is booked for molesting children under the age of 18. he would hire them to wash vehicles. he would refuse to pay them unless they took off their clothes or showered with him. police are investigating to see if there are more victims. and in a los gatos murder for hire plot, garcia's lawyer said he plans to file a motion for a new trial. he paid to have him killed because he was be a obsessed

arrests so far. san francisco police will have extra officers on patrol just incase the marking of this anniversary leads to more violence. not everyone in the south bay will move to santa clara and there is a new campaign to try to stop that from happening. they want to build a new stadium near the theme park and they have secured an $850 million loan but the grassroots group is collecting signatures to put the issue on the ballot again. they say voters who approved it were not told exactly how much it would cost. it is now protected to run about a billion dollars. and they believe the downed power line was caused by a

thursday december 22nd pam cook has the day off. nurses are showing up to work but they are not heading in, they are grabbing picket signs. lorraine is live in oakland, lorraine? >> reporter: you can hear the staple guns as nurses put the finishing touches on their picket. they are getting ready to picket because they can't come to an agreement with sutter health. he has been a nurse here for 15 years and you have been at the bargaining table, what has that been like? >> basically, there has not been any movement whatsoever, it is the same proposals over and over again and we are not making any progress whatsoever.

>> now obviously there are many things nurses would rather be doing than going through this, right? >> yes, we have been brought out here because of the lack of movement on negotiations and making no progress so that is why we are out here. >> reporter: i heard one of the sticking points is sick days, they may be eliminated or reduced, what other things do you want to change? >> sick days are a big sticking point but they also want to take charge nurses out of the bargaining unit and that's something we do not want because that is one less protection for our patients because if you have charge nurses that are not in the bargaining unit, we can't advocate for our patients at the bedside so it's important that our nurses stay at the

bedsides also. >> as i said it will start at 7:00 a.m. they have made arrangements for replacement nurses and several will be here over the next few days. reporting live in oakland ktvu channel 2 news. they are being accused of roughing up occupied protesters this morning and we are still watching the situation live. several demonstrators are claiming they were injured during confrontations. coming up, we will get a live report from tara moriarty in berkeley as the city is moving in on the occupied encampmentpment. mayor jean quan is conceding she may not be able to stop anymore port of oakland shut downs. she said they will have to a sign at least 500 police officers to help and that is

still not enough. protesters could still sneak around police lines and block port operations. oakland does plan on examining how police handled them. it is led by not more officers and his team of retired police officers will review the use of force, various procedures and the immigration of officers from outside to assist with crowd control. dozens of iraqis have been killed in a series of bombings that ripped across baghdad today. it was designed to reek havoc. at least 14 explosions went off during rush hour traffic some near schools. 200 people were injured, nobody is claiming responsibility and

it comes as political and u.s. forces have left the country. a man says he suffered injuries when he tackled a nigerian man who tried to blow up a plane two years ago. he admitted he wanted to blow up the flight and that he smuggled explosives in his underwear. delta and royal airways were negligent in allowing him to get on board that flight. a shooting involving police, they responded to an armed man on sunday when five to six men shot at them. they returned fire but nobody was hurt. people people have been arrested in that case.
