is talking about and our cameras are socked in. traffic is flowing nicely in both directions towards high ward and pastor city, let's go back to the desk. an overnight fire started shortly before midnight. lorraine blanco joins us with more from the scene, lorraine? good morning. many families are still on holiday and many will be picking up the pieces of their petaluma home. crews are boarding up their home and take a look at what it looks like around midnight. it was quite an extraordinary scene. investigators are trying to figure out what led to this but christmas lights are being blamed for two of the fires on

saturday. nobody was hurt but the damage is bad out here. back out here live you can see quite a big mess over here in front of their garage. fire investigators say this is where the fires started and there is no estimate on the amount it will be to clean it up. lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 news. they tried to rescue three people from a christmas day fire. a garage was on fire at a two- story home. adults were rescued and they believe the fire may have been started by a cigarette. san jose police say his mom tossed him on christmas morning. joining us now with what is next for this young mother, here is more.

>> reporter: they are looking into whether this mother has to be behind bars or under psychiatric observation. apparently this little boy fell and narrowly missed hitting the concrete and that might be what allowed him to get out of this with no broken bones. police called 911 just before noon -- family members called 911 just before noon and the mother locked herself inside a room with her 22-month-old son. she dropped her little boy out of a window and through herself out. they are looking into what led to this confrontation. neighbors wondered whether the stress of the holidays could have made a bad situation worse. >> families sometimes on christmas and i would imagine

this is one of those situations -- i knew something was seriously wrong when i came here and saw 13 patrol officers and the amount -- they showed up quick. >> the boy ended up with no broken bones. the mother broke a few bones in the process. both mom and child are being treated and once the mother is treated for injuries, they will decide whether she should face child endangerment charges or whether she should be observed within a medical environment. the shooting happened late saturday night. the man died from his wounds and at this point police have

sitting in the lower 20s. san jose redwood city 39 degrees, the oakland airport is reporting 34 but the city of oakland is reporting 70 degrees. we will have dry conditions at least for the next couple of days. patchy fog and sunny and cool for the afternoon and wednesday we are still watching the system and holding on to the bobbability. we have some fog and it was up by about 11:00. partly cloudy skies for the bay area and it looks like we may not see much rain at all because now we are into wednesday and still it looks like it is primarily to the north. widespread mid-to-upper 50s
