8:31 am
and people didn't have season tickets would be able to buy tickets. well, we've been told by the park ranger here, who spoke to the 49'ers office, only season holders, you see that sign, playoff entrance, only season ticket holders can get tickets here. others will be sold online. they will clinched it before last sunday's win, having a terrific season, of course. all year long, alex smith emerging, jim harbaugh, new coach, they have been able to get back in the playoffs, won the nfc west. everybody is happy about that. based on what people had heard, advertised, we spoke to a person who got here an hour-and- a-half ago, and he never had been to a 49'er game, playoff game, before in his life. in his late 20s, he and his friend got down here about an

8:37 am
>> thank you for coming in to work every day doing this full time, putting lives on the line, every day, full time. >> the reserve deputy, by the way, is paid $1 a year to work for the sheriff's department. it is 8:36. we want to check in again with sal for an update on this commute. still foggy out there? >> yes, it is. i feel like a broken record, but many young people don't know what a record is so i feel like i'm repeating myself. there we go. something we can all understand abouting foughting a sfo. you can see how the fog is lifting, and this photographer was taking pictures about 15 minutes ago. we couldn't even see the runway. now we can see more. as the fog lifts, planes will come in quicker, but there are major delays at sfo, an hour, maybe more, as we look to the right you can see the runways out there and that's going to be better. so with a fog advisory until

8:42 am
whether they will drop out, whether maybe they had some kind of -- maybe they beat expectations, maybe someone was polling at number 7 but they came in at number 4 or 3. that will give them a big boost as well. usually those people who poll the morning after the caucuses, coming in towards the bottom, they are the ones we watch to see when they will eventually throw in the towel. >> all right. chris welch live in des moines. we'll be following this throughout the day and evening on ktvu. >> our time is 8:42. this is a hectic day for u.p.s. >> and a busy night for water crews in downtown berkeley. a live update from the scene. @

there's still repair work but you can see where the water main burst under the asphalt. down the street, the water pressure actually caused the asphalt to buckle. this all happened right in front of a row of stores, most of them contain art or paper products, and had good reason to worry about water gushing down the sidewalks. the rupture occurred just before 5:00 last night. the 6-inch burst sent water down bancroft way and water was shut off to ten commercial businesses while east bay m.u.d. crews worked to fix the problem. business owners grabbed sandbags to protect their stores and one merchant told us he lost $5000 worth of vintage rock posters and sports memorabilia stored in the basement directly below the busted pipes. >> i just replaced all the marble on the building. and i received a phone call saying there was an issue with
