several cars surrounded him and an officer fired his taser through the driver side window. >> i heardt. >> reporter: this man saw the chase end. >> -- sitting out and another guy, two of the cop cars t boned him and pinned him in, pinned him in to the car and they rushed him and pulled him out. heard the taser and that was it. >> a sergeant came out and broke out the passenger window. he was trying to flee so very dangerous. >> reporter: last we were told the officer who had severe injuries was -- pinned in his car was taken to regional medical. we expect to get updated on had his condition tonight. all we know is the suspect is a 27-year-old man. the other three officers had knee pain. they were able to continue on with the chase but they are goingo to get checked by doctors tonight.

>> reporter: measuring the snow pack is all about trying to look at what the spring runoff will be like this is 9 south fork of the american river. it's barely moving. if that's true in the spring we may have some trouble. now the winter so far isn't looking good in terms of the snow pack but it's important to remember winter is still young. december 28th 2010, this is what the snow survey is supposed to look like. snow shoes, warm clothes, took several measurements to size it up. now look at today. snow survey chief is sporting sun glasses and a light sweater. the snow course is mostly grass with just one tiny patch of snow to measure. >> well,. >> is that it? >> that's it. >> reporter: just 1, 7th of an inch. >> the lowest we have measured. >> reporter: that's the

smallest snow pack dating back to the 30s. statewide it's 19% of normal for this date. >> we have already lost december and you know we are starting to look at maybe losing half of january, then you are starting to think we are just not going to catch up. >> reporter: the upside most of the water is above normal because last winter's snow pack was huge so water supplies are not a major concern yet. right now it's the ski resorts feeling the most impact. sierra at tahoe is open but other resorts may close until the snow finally comes. >> we are staying optimistic as we believe the market will bounce back when it does snow. >> reporter: now the head of the snow survey said that the previous record january low snow pack measurement at that location was back in 1987. he said what followed that year was the miracle march. he said a recovery is possible but it would be unusual. ken pritchett.

big storms. yeah the story right now is we have no rain, we are below average. the mountains and ski resorts hurting. they make their own snow m of the resorts have run out of water to even do that. >> a murder trial started today for a young man accused of killing three members of a family from san francisco. jury selection started in the case 25-year-old edwin ramos charged with murdering 48-year- old tony and his two sons, 20- year-old michael and 16-year- old matthew. prosecutors say he mistook one of them for a rival gang member. police also say they had a lot of contact with ramos as a juvenile for drugs and violent crime but the former sanctuary law wouldn't let them report him to immigration. >> this is obviously a case that brings a lot of emotions and a very tragic case, the
