hundreds of mixed had race donors volunteered today to try to help a little boy fighting for his lie. john sasaki is live in san mateo with why the boy's fight is so unique? >> reporter: ken, this is the preschool where hundreds turned out and used swabs to, as everyone hoped, become kyle's donor. everyone at serendipity school today was looking to be to be to be a serend impm im. seren--er -- a match. his family learned last month he was a rare blood disorder. >> his bone marrow is not making white blood cells, red

donors scheduled this month. kyle was gonna be here but he had to go to the emergency room. his mother says he's doing okay. >> for more information on how you can help, including how to be a donor, you -- go to ktvu.com. we have an update on the little boy found all alone in oakland this morning. authorities say that he tracked down the -- they've tracked down the family. he wandered away from home and wound up in a bank pl at 3:30 this morning near international -- international boulevard. the boy was able to say his name and tell them where he lives. also, in oakland, police tell us they are questioning a person of interest in a suspicious death a woman in the oakmoore neighborhood. authorities found the woman at about 2:00 a.m. in a house on limen road

between clemens. investigators have not released her name or the cause of death. new details are emerging about a domestic violence investigation of ross mirkarimi one day about his scheduled swearing in as san francisco sheriff. the "examiner" reports one of mirkarimi's neighbors called police about an argument between mirkarimi and his by on new year's day -- and his wife on new year's day. authorities took camera from that neighbor as evidence. mirkarimi has not commented on the allegations. his wife said her husband has never been abusive. in -- investigators say 32- year-old frederick doser san francisco is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly 2010en, robbery -- weapon, robbery, rape and other charges. a tip led authorities to the

did of -- body of a 64-year-old woman. >> we're combing through the fire debris hoping to determine what the cause of the fire was. >> reporter: the victim was staying with her friend, a 62- year-old man who neighbors say has lived in this townhouse for decades. several neighbors told us the victim of this fire had been ill recently and was confind to a sofa bed on the first floor. >> translator: she could not talk because she had been really sick. she did not have a home and her friend was helping her out. >> reporter: the 62-year-old man escaped with minor burns and talked about his friend being stuck. >> the door was locked. he was not able to get her out. at that point, the flames were too big. >> reporter: the man told investigators he did not hear smoerk alarms -- smoke alarms. >> we're reminding everybody to test your smoke alarms every

month. >> reporter: anderson said this morning she's counting her blessings and saying a prayer for the woman who didn't survive. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. a fire forced the evacuation of a lucky supermarket on mission street in daly city this morning. firefighters say the one-alarm fire broke out in the rear of the store at about 8:00 a.m. crews say flames and smoke were visible when they arrived. firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly. no injuries were reported and that store reopened. an early-morning fire has left a sonoma county family without a home. the family of four got out of the home unhurt and investigators now say the fire started in the chimney. the santa clara city council is expected to sign off on tuesday on a parking deal for the proposed 49ers stadium. the agreement between the owners of the great american theme park and the 49ers would

stadium construction. >> reporter: you could say it's 4 and 10. late in the game and down. and this team is looking for a come basketball. >> $850 million in loans. we're a small city of 114,000 people. that's too much debt. >> reporter: members of santa clara tried to gather more than 4500-plus signatures. it's all part of a referendum drive to stop this from being built and today, some residents were signing on. >> all of our funds we're bringing in are gonna go to the stadiums, instead of schools and education where it should be going. >> reporter: back in june of 2010, voters here in santa clara approved measure j, basically giving the green light for the building of the stadium. well, the reason this group is out here today is because they feel the voters were not well informed about how much that stadium would cost, close to $1 billion. >> because this is so

different, we're hearing from people who are saying this is not what i voted for. >> reporter: this resident sports it. >> it sports -- supports it. >> it just takes that kind of money to do it. >> reporter: and a special election on this could happen as early as this summer. >> i just think in the long run it's not gonna benefit our city. an electrical workers union is now part of this stadium fight. ibew local 332 posted that they asked the 49ers to act as intercepters to stop the referendum. we found union employees handing out fliers that said why they should support them. one of them being job. the union wants to give the public an alternative view.

the 49ers say they have nothing to do with the union's plan. a federal court has overturned the conviction of the man accused of threatening to blow up a stadium at the super bowl. he was parmed when he got to the stadium -- he was armed when he the got stadium but changed his mind. the popular park shut down on new year's day during a manhunt for a gunman. today rangers wore black bands around their bam in honor of the ranger killed. tomorrow will mark one year since the tucson shooting

has low humidity and increasing winds could make for dangerous conditions in case of fire. fire concerns in january. >> yeah, it does seem kind of strange. let's check in with mark tamayo about the conditions out there. you mentioned a possible warm up. >> temperatures out there will be about as warm today. that means the warmest location is around 70 degrees. as far as some of the winds, dry northerly winds in place. we typically talk about these in august and september but they are sticking around. mt. diablo, the most recent observation, right around 55 miles an hour. fairfield, 29. wind speeds begin to fade away as you head close to san jose and vallejo. but still a bit of a breeze out there. a few high clouds having to move in parts of the region over the bay. there you can see the beautiful sunset and take a look at these numbers from this afternoon. santa rosa, oakland, hayward, all topped out at 70. san francisco. 66 this is typically the time

nfl's wild card in full swing. the 49ers are watching the game in new orleans. the lions are leading the saints, 14-7 late in the first half. in the earlier game, former oilers coach celebrated houston's first playoff game since 1994. it featured tj yates against andy dalton. they were tied and then jj takes it back 29 yards for a touchdown. watt is a former college tight end who went back to school deciding he had a better future in football. it was all texans after that. yates in the third quarter throwing long to andre jan son -- johnson. 42-10, houston. then with the bengals in need of a stop, foster makes the foreigner and then breaks tackles on the way to a 42-yard score. foster ran for 153 yards and

two touchdowns. in their first ever playoff appearance, the texans are moving on. they win it 31-10. they will now travel to baltimore, a team they lost to, earlier this year. stanford may still be smarting from its loss in the fiesta bowl. but the cardinal won a victory today. sanders announced that he will attend stanford rather than his father's allah matters. he had 65 touchdowns in his high school coo rear. brigham young's arena will be a new experience for basketball teams. it wasn't much of a contest today. brock nearly beat them by itself. he was perfect from the field. cougars led by 22 at the half. kept their foot on the gas pedal. he was 8-8 on the day.
