in the second bedroom. there is poster boards, tables, many different women that appeared to be in unnatural positions, drugged, in my opinions, unconscious or dead. some had stockings, some nude. he was arrested for probation violation, and eight days later a search was conducted. inside the garage, officer jackson testifies there was no electricity so i used my flash light. inside, there were mannequin legs and four firearms behind the refrigerator. in an unlocked safe, 10,000 in cash. after a brief court recess, a second probation officer testified what he located during the second search of joseph naso's home. located on the dining room table, there was a clip board, with a diary of rapes, and underage assaults. one was on a gray hound bus in another state, the diary said.

the assault happened here on campus. this afternoon, the elementary school was left with this letter from the school district. craig chandler of san jose was arrested and charged with assaulting a student. >> we're very surprised. >> reporter: chandler taught for nine years at the east san jose school, most recently, a class of second and third graders. they are not releasing information, but say that one student was assaulted last fall. >> as with these cases, we always explore the possibility of other victims. >> reporter: the investigators are focused on a game involving a blindfold that chandler would play with the class. >> just what the detectives say, if they played the blindfold game, i asked if he played, he said no. >> during class, and would everybody play? half of the class. >> reporter: the allegations prompted this father to have a difficult discuss with his daughter. >> would the teacher touch you

[cheering and applause] jon huntsman, who came in third in new hampshire, campaigned in columbia, south carolina today. and the former utah governor actually defended frontrunner mitt romney from attacks by other g.o.p. rivals. newt gingrich and rick perry criticized the role in cutting jobs when he was with a private equity firm.

understanding between iran, its neighbors and the international community -- that finds a way forward for it to end its unusual behavior, and its search for nuclear weapons. >> today's blast was the fourth time a member of iran's nuclear team has been killed in the past two years. california's independent legislative analysts today said it is too soon to tell if governor brown's budget fixes will work. the plan relies on voter approval of more taxes in november. and at this point, the independent analysts won't say if the numbers actually add up. there is in our view more down side risks to the administration's numbers. but they could be right, we are going to know a lot more after about two weeks, because we'll have all the information on the estimated payments that people make on their personal income taxes. and the legislative analysts office also says that lawmakers may have to consider additional spending cuts, along

with tax increases or borrowing. and president obama today urging american businesses to buck the out-sourcing trend in favor of in-sourcing. >> i want us to be known for making and selling products all over the world, stamped with three proud words, made in america. and we can make that happen. and president obama hosted a round table meeting on in- sourcing at the white house. he praised several businesses for "investing in america" that includes master law, which brought manufacturing back from china to milwaukee, and foot wear, opening production plants in california and oregon. these companies are choosing to invest in the one country with the most productive workers, the best universities and the most creative and brilliant business people in the world, and that is the united states of america. >> the president will propose new tax incentives for companies to keep jobs here in the united states. they want to eliminate tax breaks for those that move jobs

overseas. and the federal reserve says that the u.s. economy did show signs of improvement last year. the feds say all by 21 of the banking regions showed growth in spending and consumer travel. the only exception was the virginia region, covering the mid-atlantic states. they say that housing is still at risk. it appeared the economy was going back into recession last year. and competing with the good report about the u.s. economy from the fed. investors started the day concerned with a report showing the german economy contracted in the 4th quarter of 2010. the dow finishing down 13 points, the nasdaq rose by eight. now the occupy movement may have hit a nerve here in the united states. a new poll of 2000 people by the research center shows that 66% of those responding see a

strong conflict between the rich and poor, up 19 percentage points since 2009. the biggest growth in the perception was among those describing themselves as liberals or independents. and three people recovering after being stabbed outside a bar just before 2:00 in san jose, in the parking lot of the creekside bar and grill on west alma avenue. it is not clear if the people involved were inside the bar or what sparked the attacks. >> well, the guy -- a lot of screaming from the people and shots. >> police say friends took the victims to hospitals in private cars. all are expected to survive. no word tonight of any arrests or suspects. and a hollywood premier here in the bay area. ktvu's eric rasmussen has more on the new fox tv show. eric you're headed for the

. well, frank late this afternoon, a source familiar with the investigation told us -- a charge will probably be filed in the domestic violence case. >> san francisco district attorney george gascon says the office is still looking at evidence in a domestic allegation against the sheriff, ross mirkarimi. >> we don't have a cooperative victim here. >> reporter: he is under investigation for a new year's eve incident in which a neighbor alleges he grabbed his wife, eliana lopez's arm with enough force to leave a bruise. others say there was no problem, and it was taken out of context. >> we are confident that in the

end, justice will work. >> reporter: a warrant was looked at for text messages and a video camera. the search warrant says the neighbor says she videotaped a bruise at ms. lopez's request. the legal experts say it is too soon to tell if that will help in the courtroom. >> you don't have a witness, and all you have is hearsay testimony, which is probably not going to be admissible. >> reporter: mirkarimi's attorney today told us he is preparing his client to be charged. >> if a misdemeanor charge is filed, i'm sure we'll work out a -- his release. fairly soon after any -- charge is filed. >> reporter: now as for time length for all of this, our source indicates that perhaps by tomorrow afternoon it will become clearer exactly when a domestic violence charge will be filed against mirkarimi. ktvu channel 2 action news. and a bay area lawmaker spoke out against what she

called a global epidemic of modern day slavery. >> it is going on under our noses, and we have got to address it. >> the san mateo congresswoman launched a signature-gathering campaign for state ballots, looking at tougher laws for sex trafficking and other slavery incidents. she described a meeting with one young victim in washington. >> i asked her how many times a day was she forced to have sex. and she told me anywhere between 10 and 14 times. >> last february, san mateo county began zero tolerance enforcement against sexual exploitation. spear says the program already has saved several victims. and a new report showing that electric power plants pumped out almost three quarters of the greenhouse

gases reported to the protection agency. cold plants are among the top polluters, they say, and new regulations are expected for targeting the new power plants. it could take new laws to clean up the refineries, oil is the second largest for the pollution, responsible for 6% of greenhouse gases. and a reminder today and tomorrow are the winter spare the air day, meaning it is illegal to burn wood or any other solid fuels inside or out. first offenses usually draw a warning, but repeat offenses can lead to stiff fines. and yesterday we reported the 13th spare the air alert. and bill we have not had this many in a long time. >> and this is definitely unusual, in terms of the winter spare the air nights. it is an unusual weather pattern, very dry in this spare the air stuff. this is a symptom of the bigger thing, which is the high pressure, the dry weather and lack of wind, and instability in the atmosphere. when it gets stable, everything just settles over the top of us. when the atmosphere like last

year is active, all the smoke and particles are blowing around. right now there is a lid on us, that is why it was so cold last night, upper 20s, mid-20s in the north bay, inland valley, and equally as cold in many of the bay area locations. in the daytime highs you go from the upper 20s to santa rosa, to nearly 70 degrees, a 50-degree bump between morning and night. there are places in california that don't change much more than 10 degrees from this time of year. in southern california, spreading from the morning low and daytime high. these numbers tomorrow will be about the same, maybe a little cooler. just depends on where you are. but another very nice mild day. as this dry pattern continues, it certainly is -- you know it is -- definitely not what you expect this time of year. you just don't. we expect cold overnight loss, and rain and snow in the mountains. you just don't expect this much dry for this long. there are some indications, the

. complete bay area news covering continues, . this man is accused of a string of sexual assaults in san francisco, and appeared today in court. also the district attorney announced details on what led to his arrest. ktvu's rob roth has more. >> reporter: frank this is a copy of the criminal complaint, presenting a clearer picture of just how violent the attacks were. now the complaint contains 26 charges, including sexual assaults and attempted murder. the authorities say it happened right here in the mission.

fred dozier, jr., made a first appearance in court this afternoon but didn't enter a plea. he is accused of brutally assaulting three women in other attacks in the mission district last year. >> we know he assaulted the victims from behind. he was very violent. >> reporter: the district attorney says that dozier, pictured here speaking at an event promoting green streets, targeted the women, sexually abused them and robbed them. the district attorney said he twisted the neck of one woman when she refused demands, slamming another woman's face into the sidewalk. police have footage of dozier, but the break came thanks to an anonymous tip from the district attorney. >> we got the dna match, from the time we got the confirmation, it was about 45 minutes from the time we made the arrest. >> reporter: dozier worked for the san francisco school district. the question is, how did he pass a background check despite a previous misdemeanor assault

conviction. school officials wouldn't return our calls today. the women who live here say the assaults made them more cautious when they walked on the street. >> i don't have my phone, i am strictly paying attention -- >> you don't go out by yourself at night. and you will be aware of where you're going, what the neighborhoods are. >> reporter: the authorities are asking if there are anymore victims out there, please come forward. now dozier is due back in court, and could face hundreds of years in jail if convicted. rob roth, ktvu. and the suspect in the killing of a classmate has been transferred to adult court. steven carlson was arrested from dna evidence. 14-year-old tina faelz was stabbed while going to school, on a short cut. carlson was originally charged in juvenile court because he was 16 at the time of the

killing. now the ruling will charge him as an adult because of the severity of the crime. and the man accused of killing natalie holloway, pleading guilty today in the death of a woman, facing 30 years in prison. his lawyer said he killed the woman as a result of extreme psychological trauma he suffered from publicity of the case, prosecutors say he killed the woman to rob her. and in arizona, a lot of people wonder if now will be the time when they finally decide if the a's can move to san jose. robert handa has more on the story. >> reporter: well, a lot of people -- lots of people are working hard to bring the a's to a baseball stadium here, as another piece of downtown to go along with the hp pavilion and the transit center. now many believe if it is time to find out if it is a field of dreams or just a dream. it is a sight they want the
