on the coast other than that it will be a sunny and warm day and things will start changing and i will have more coming up in about 7 minutes. a few mid-to-upper 60s, here is sal. traffic looks good in both directions and it looks like something is going on southbound 80 and it looks like one of the right lanes may be affect by whatever it is at the bottom there. also this morning, we are looking at 80 westbound, that looks good coming into berkeley, let's go back to the desk. we are still following overnight news coming from san francisco right now, they are investigating the city's first homicide of the year. it happened in the south of market area. a 30-year-old man was stabbed. he died a short time later at the the top. it's not clear what led up to the killing and police are still searching for suspects. if you have any information

contact police right away. a livermore teacher is accused of having sex with a teenage boy. channel 2 reporter kraig debro is outside this morning with how police closed the case which they opened only two days ago. >> reporter: we are told there is a basketball practice and players are coming in and i just spoke with a parent who says her daughter was a student in a class taught by a woman now behind bars. marie johnson was arrested at her home in livermore. police received a tip about a possible sex crime with marie johnson and a young boy. police say johnson had oral sex and sexual relations with the 14-year-old boy where she communicated with him first on

facebook and texting. police don't believe there are other suspects but they are asking students to talk to their kids about the nature of their interactions with johnson. according to the web page, she teaches geometry and algebra. police say she had sex with the boy in her car and other locations in livermore and the crimes happened in 2010 since may of last year. and there are questions whether or not the boy is a student at the school or from somewhere else. nicholas is a teacher at the antioch high school. now pennsylvania state police have evidence that he had sexual relations with a 15-year- old student when he was teaching in that state five years ago. they have now placed him on

administrative leave and they have informed parents about the charges in pennsylvania. time 6:03 happening now parents have been braving a cold night and waiting for the start of a kindergarten registration. claudine wong is talking with the parents about why they are doing this and what is expected to happen this morning, claudine? >> reporter: this list has 15 names on it and they are very intent on getting their kids registered. registration starts at 9:00 this morning but holly and all these other people have been waiting all night long and all morning long. they are just getting out of their cars and for people who are not in this school district don't know this school, how do you explain this kind of craziness of having to wait overnight? >> well i am from michigan

old hayward girl. she was last seen leaving her parents' home tuesday morning. her family believes she left bart to go to oakland. she texted a front but has not -- texted a friend but has not been heard from since. her family says she suffers from an anxiety disorder and may need help. it appears to show four american marines in afghanistan urinating on the bodies of taliban -- dead taliban fighters. coming up, we will have a live report from our washington d.c. newsroom from the reaction of the president of afghanistan this morning. a spokesperson said they are ready to start talking but not stop fighting. today a militant group said they are increasing their

real fears about it sparking more anti-american sentiment in the region. reporting live allison burns ktvu channel 2 news. we want to show you disturbing video which shows a los angeles sheriff's deputy elbowing an unrulely bus passenger in the face. now a passenger called 911 to report that female passenger after they say she tried to attack another passenger. sheriff's were called in and they tell the l.a. times the woman has several previous convictions for assaulting a police officer. she is under a psychiatric hold and no word on if the deputy will face any charges. an explosion gone wrong, it all happened yesterday evening. a student and firefighter had to be treated for exposure to

the chemicals. the building had to be shut down shortly after that explosion and will stay closed for cleanup. the university is not sure what kind of chemicals were being used. the police department is dedicating a police unit and they told the bay area news group that they were focused on prevention. officers plan to work through the dear program to teach 5th graders how to avoid falling into gangs. they decided not to shut down one of its two stations as a way to reduce expenses. now the board has been considering keeping one or two stations open on each shift but the firefighters union pled to keep the station open. the board agreed and gave the district's chief through april to continue using that station.

about a moment. it is thursday january 12th, i am dave clark. >> and i am pam cook, time now is 6:30. firefighters are at the scene of an early morning house fire and we want to take you live to the scene. people are talking with firefighters and crews responded to a fire on green leaf lane more than three hours ago. nobody was home at the time and there are no reports of injuries at this point but when firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the attic. no evacuations were made. still coming in from san francisco right now, police are investigating that first homicide of 2012 which happened south of market area. police are on the scene and investigators say a 30-year-old man was stabbed and he died a

short time later. it's still not clear what led to his killing and if you have any information call san francisco police. and in 90 minutes, a livermore teacher is in jail and kraig debro has more on what she is accused of, kraig? >> reporter: she is accused and charged with having sex with a child under the age of 15 and we are still trying to determine if that child is a student here. a woman tells me her daughter is in the class of this woman who is now behind bars. livermore police arrested marie johnson yesterday at her home. the arrest came a day after they began their investigation and police received a tip about a possible crime involving marie johnson. she had oral sexual relations with a boy and is facing 24 counts on those charges and

they uncovered evidence so far according to police that marie johnson communicated with the boy on facebook and an internet game called words are friends. police say they don't think there are any other suspects or victims rather here at grenada high school but they are asking parents to talk to their kids about the nature of their interaction with johnson. police say she had sexual relations which happened between december of 2010 and may of 2011. she is being held on bond and if she does not make bond by saturday she will be having her 41st birthday in jail. reporting live kraig debro ktvu channel 2 news. last night the contra costa county board of education approved charter status for three years. the approval comes with conditions many of which must

. good morning, an early morning fire is being investigated. firefighters responded to this home on green leaf around 3:30 this morning and firefighters say the homeowners happened to be out of town so nobody was hurt. police are investigating the first homicide of 2012. a man was stabbed to death on market area and police are still searching for suspects. and they arrested marie johnson, the 40-year-old teacher arrested for three felonies for allegedly having sex with a teenage boy. dozens of parents are camped outside a school and claudine wong is telling us why they are braving this chilly

night, claudine? >> reporter: yes, this is a very popular school, this happens every year and this is the sign to mark the line and as you can see behind this the line is continuing to grow with people getting out of their cars and getting in line and some people have been out here since 1:30 yesterday afternoon. there are 120 kindergarten spots at this school however there are sibellings who get in for pry yourty and there are other spots given out for first time first serve basis and that is why they do not want to miss this chance. we spoke to a couple of parents, the ones who are first and second in this line. >> we could stay until midnight and after we had to come to the sidewalk so we thought to be nice and close. >> truly if my daughter didn't

get into the school i would put a "for sale" sign up because this is my local school and she deserves to come here. >> reporter: the other school is only a short distance away but the parents say this is the school they want their children to be in and they are willing to give up a night and morning to make sure it happens. registration goes from 9:00 to 11 and 12 to 2:00 and there is only a limited number of spots they are trying to attack and there were 53 people in line so everybody should be good and everything will be a go as planned, stay tuned for more coming up. mitt romney is at a rally in grear south carolina and he was there about an hour ago.
