>> reporter: her house was burglarized last week. >> we are locking our doors now. looking into security systems. >> reporter: he says there has been a spike in burglaries in marine county within the last month. last week a man shot a burglar inside his home and today a mile away -- >> scary to me. >> reporter: these signs have been posted warning residents about the burglaries and they started e-mail chains warning each other. a post says, house alarm went off. several men scattered. >> now i am teaching my kids and i have always taught them, never open the door unless mom is there. >> reporter: one resident says the sheriff's office has a short list of suspects.

>> reporter: it started at 11:30 this morning at this bank of america in san jose. >> we had one individual, male adult, enter the bank, display a suspicious device and make threats to the tellers. >> 60 miles per hour plus, almost hitting all the cars. >> reporter: steve brown says he watched the car enter highway 85 and slam into a mini van. and when the two men ran, he says he chased one down. >> we got into a wrestling match and i threw him to the ground, and placed him under citizen's arrest and called 911. >> reporter: the second suspect ran to the baseball field at the high school. >> lock down. lock down. teachers lock your doors. >> students were in the building and the suspect -- >> reporter: police shut down
