and now it is starting to light things up. taking aim right here as you can see it. and also into the city and down towards peninsula, over the east bay, not so much for the north and south yet, but it's on its way. much stronger systems, number two, coming in today and then a third one on sunday afternoon evening. i know, i know. but that's what mother nature is saying right now. i believe it. now, today, cloudy, foggy. and rain develops heavier for them later on tonight and as the wind has picked up as well, especially along the coast. this is the computer model forecast, showing you the early morning rain. but take a look at what happens here. by noon, 1:00, things start to get going. then later on, here comes that system. and then tonight, that's the front going through around 7:00 to 8:00 tonight. almost on the backside of it. but there will be rain moving to the south and east and tomorrow looks okay. there will be isolated showers. but breezy and cooler. we'll get a break on saturday. projected rainfall here. anywhere from three quarters of

an inch. the north bay, coastal mountains. easily 1.15 or 2.5 or maybe more than that. there were some unbelievable tolls yesterday. picking up about 7.5 inches of rain. so there's a lot of moisture here and finally we got that little storm going on out here. cloudy rain, foggy, drizzlely. and later on the mountain snow is beginning up -- is going up. so the snow advisories start at 7:00 tonight and then goes up there tomorrow. but windy up there. take the rain gear. but i think the first half of tailgating is all right. the second half looks very dicey to me. 50s on the temp. then that's it. it will be dry the rest of the week. >> all right, if people want to stay dry, they will just stay home and watch it on channel 2, right? the football game. all right, 7:44 with a new report out in the last hour, revealing about the troubled housing market. a huge accomplishment for general motors. three years after filing for bankruptcy that is.

>> and now, a lot more areas here as well. that's because we have several protests going on right now. once you take a look down the street, you can take a look at the crowd gathering there. a group of people that have locked arms by that wells fargo door. but we will still walk down the street here because this is something that has been happening on all four corners of the building, the wells fargo corporate building and a bank branch as well. so now this is where occupy protesters are all targeting for them this morning. this, of course, just one of many protests that are going on throughout the day. this is a national day of action and the organizers have said that this will be the largest protest for them in the financial district and since the anti-war protest of 2003. we want to take you right into the protest right up to the building so you can see what they have done.
8:03 am
actually, they are taking chains and they have chained themselves to the doors. they have done it to every entrance around the building. can i ask you why you chained yourself to the door here? >> i'm here, a mom raising a kid here in san francisco. it's not right that wells fargo just made the topic at $16 billion. when our schools are getting closed, our families are getting, you know, laid off and the homes are getting lost. now, it's not right. >> do you think that this is a day that people will listen to your message that this is what you need to do in order to get people to listen to the occupy movements? >> reporter: i think that the word needs to be spread that we cannot have business as usual as long as, you know, millions of people, we have record unemployment and people are losing their homes. you can't have business as usual. something needs to change. and that will continue to grow. >> are you prepared to be arrested? >> yes, yes. >> all right, thank you so much for talking to us. you're taking a look at the ongoing protest right now. the san francisco police, they are standing by.
8:04 am
now, obviously there will be an issue when people, they are blocking the entrances to the building. i asked the captain on scene what the police plan was this morning and he said that they are still assessing, walking around the area. just trying to take a look at things. they are also watching thins. you're trying to get in and out of the area that does make things more complicated. already normally a busy time. and that will be all the protests that are going on. if you want to avoid the area, and that will be which way? >> well, you know, one of the ways around it, claudine wong, i can see it is pretty noisy around you. that's one of the best ways around you, not on montgomery street, taking people down the market. that's the other way to do it. go down to the embarkment and then go around that way. if you are in downtown and say you're at north beach and you want to go down to the bottom and go to the embarkment and then go around that way. don't try to cut through san francisco on montgomery street as you can see the live pictures. there will be a lot of slower traffic. maybe you're on columbus, you want to get over trying to get to the freeway.
8:05 am
obviously a bad call. so again, you know, go down to the embarkment side or perhaps go down to one of the other streets. and that will get you down. now, don't take montgomery through the financial district right now because it's a mess and partly because of the protesters. and also partly because it is the normal morning commute. all right, we'll go out and take a look at the rest of the bay area not doing so well because of the rain. actually, we're doing the regular traffic report in just a minute. so right now, i'll just tell you to use the alternative routes. i'll be back with regular traffic in just a morning. >> all right, thank you, sal. that's not the only occupy event going on in the bay area today. this morning, dozens of cal protesters will continue their marathon demonstration inside the uc berkeley campus library. they took over the an throw poll joy library here -- ann

that is causing huge traffic problems for them right in the heart of the financial district. and now, ktvu claudine wong sees it right there. she's been there with the very latest. what's going on? >> reporter: well, the protesters are still surrounding the wells fargo building here on montgomery and california. you can see it moving to the different area. that will be to wells fargo this morning. people that are camped out. they have locked arms so people cannot get in. and it has set up a toll looking from that area over here. now, down here, they are wet and cold and they are out here and your arms are locked in here. can you tell me why you are out here? >> because, well, regulators, they where not regulating or upholding the law. and you know, banks like wells fargo are getting that on the courts. no accountability. they defrauded homeowners.
8:33 am
and also, the area here. wells fargo gave me a loan, they did two on the same day. and one aphrased for them. the other one a price for $475. now, sometimes i will find that for wells fargo. my home is about $234 under water. >> do you think that it will be a situation for them? do you think that it will happen for your case? >> i think that it will be highlighted, the fact that, you know, we will be arrested. sometime today. for the fact that we have done nothing wrong. but they will change the housing market and destroy the bank system. there's no accountability. the regulators, they are not prosecuting. they are not even doing that criminally, prosecuting the banks. that's wrong. >> okay. all right, thank you. >> yes. >> okay, so now, this is the situation for you here and that they will be staying here. everyone has been talking and
