mug shots. the chief says beyond a few foot chases the meme targeted were -- the people targeted were taken into custody without incident. 70 arrests. other warrants for robbery and other crimes. four people wanted by federal authorities and of the 70, 20 were state parolees. 46 were wanted on felonies and 20 for misdemeanors. an operation like this is dangerous for the officers involved. >> these are folks that are moving about san francisco, the bay area, california, if you will, knowing that they are wanting which would -- amps it up a little bit, we don't know which one of them won't want to be taken back in to custody. >> reporter: that said the chief says a sweep like this is something they do on their own terms. it is safer that way rather than having a peb of the public

coming across one of -- having a member of the public coming across one of them. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. new laws to control violence near local bars. ktvu reported on a fight involving 15 people. police say such violence is a problem around closing time. counsel members asked them to be aggressive when drafting the ordinance. discussing removing write in candidates. last year they removed them from the june primary and the november election and now lawmakers are worried it might cost someone a vote. the bill is expected to clear its final hurdle next week. an update about a disorder that we reported, it was the first in the nation to report.

morgellons, a skin problem that effects many in the bay area. ktvu's john fowler joins us now. >> reporter: i told you about this skin disorder, now the cdc says it is not infectious. >> it drives you nuts. >> reporter: many told us they had a real disorder. >> kind of understandable why people don't believe it. >> it is not a hygiene problem. there is something else going on. >> reporter: 150 people reported unexplained lesions. doctors diagnosed people as delusional. >> i am not doing that. >> you can see these fibers come out. >> reporter: researchers reported reviewing 115 patients with the symptoms.

1:30 p.m. officers on the scene tell ktvu there were several marijuana plants inside the home. a family of a toddler killed in rohnert park dropped its lawsuit against the city. they filed the suit after their daughter was struck and killed by a woman texting while driving in 2009. ling murray was injured in the accident. the lawsuit claimed the intersection was dangerous because there were no lights warning drivers of pedestrians. a group took a step towards a protesters lawsuit against oakland police and the sheriff's office. they asked a court today to allow the suit to proceed as class action. it represents 150 protesters arrested in the demonstrations after johannes mehserle was sentenced in 2010. the protesters were harassed

a caltraps technician who was fired after falsifying safety reports has been allowed to resign. he struck a deal that allows him to resign if he agrees not to take legal action against the state. the deal saves taxpayers money that would have been spent on a trial. caltrain is considering two tax increases to fund its operations. two proposals are up for discussion. one proposal increases the sale tax in san mateo county, the second raises the sales tax in santa clara and san francisco counties. voters must approve first. scientist is being held in jail after his arrest for

violating u.s. export laws. authorities say he bought prohibited lab equipment. he was taken into custody today. his friends say he was detained last month after stepping off a plane in los angeles. it was not a random attack but police say it was a targeted jewelry theft. ktvu's maureen naylor is joining us live with what makes this case unique. >> reporter: investigators say this is unusual. not because it happened in a parking lot, but for how the robbers were dressed and targeted the victim and his goods. >> reporter: according to police the shoppers was attacked by 3-4 well dressed men about 2:30 yesterday afternoon outside macy's.
