alto dip to 30s 37 we are good to go for the weekend. mostly sunny. night age morning will be nice. yesterday kind of developed as sal remembers about 7:00 or #. we'll keep an eye on that for today. 50s and 60s on your temps. the week is nice. watch out for fog. rain on tuesday. here is sal. steve, good morning. we are starting off the morning with problems out there. i want to show you that we do have a woman was able to walk away after this roll over crash. it happened on d street at 2:00 in the morning. police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. muni service will be back to normal after yesterday ease wide spread outage. the problem was caused by a down overhead wire inside the

subway. muni worked overnight to make the repairs. they finished in about 4:00. we are looking at highway 4 here. traffic is off to a good start. we do have a problem in the bay area commute. sounds like a pretty serious accident. 880 looks good. let's go live to christien kafton. what is happening? >> reporter: let's give you a live look right away. you can see the far two left lanes on the bay bridge are closed at this hour. there was a roll over accident here. we just spoke with chp about five minutes ago. there was a disabled suv in the far left hand lane. a white car came up behind it and smashed into the back of that suv flipping it over. paramedics transported two people to the hospital. you can see chp has the two far left lanes closed right now. it does look like they will get those lanes reopened fairly

soon. if we come around you can see traffic is moving in the far right lanes of the bridge right now so that is causing some slow traffic as you come up the incline section and you can see that cal tran crews in the distance are working to clear the last of the debris in the far left hand lanes. again two people transported to the hospital following a roll over accident on the far left hand learn of the bay bridge. it looks like three lanes are closed down in the far three left lanes. those lanes look like they will be opening fairly soon. we will continue to monitor this story. we have pretty dramatic video we will bring to you in the next half hour or so. it has been a violent 24 hours in oakland. four separate shootings, killed two people, and injured two others. ktvu channel 2 reporter claudine wong joins us from oakland with what she has learned. >> reporter: i've been talking

to oakland police this morning and a lot of detectives still here at the oakland police department working this morning. trying to get to the bottom of all of these cases. about 24 hours it started after 3:00 yesterday morning with a person suffering minor injuries after a shooting on 25th avenue and east tenth. the victim was extremely lucky but that was just the beginning. just before 10:00 there was another shooting. this one on 89th and d-street. in that case it was a drive by shooting and an adult man was killed after a car with three males and one female drove by and opened fire. we are also told another victim was heard we are not sure of his condition. around 6:15 last night more shots. this time on the 1200 block of 72nd avenue. an adult man was shot by two adults driving by. he survived that shooting. police told ktvu he was shot in the stomach. and then another killing just

before 8:45 last night. this one on the 800 block of 26th street. the victim shot multiple times after a hail of bullet there is. the suspect was seen running from that scene. again a little more than 24 hours. four shootings, two people dead, i talked with people coming out of the homicide division. they have been working all night long but a lot on their plate. live here in oakland claudine wong. we are getting a look at dramatic surveillance video of a harrowing gun battle. it shows the son of a taco truck driver and two of the men that tried to rob him. 32-year-old omar surprised the gunmen by pulling out his own gun and fighting back. they are still recovering from wounds they suffered in the exchange of gunfire. san francisco sheriff ross mirkarimi returns to court at

9:00 this morning. he will ask a judge to allow him visitation rights so he can see his two-year-old son. he has dropped his efforts to see his wife. at least for now. that stay away order came shortly after mirkarimi's arrest on domestic violence charges. the sheriff has vowed to remain in office as he fights the charges. his trial is set to begin in three weeks. the former commander of a drug squad will be able to travel to los angeles to appear on the dr. phil show. norman welch is out on bail facing drug and corruption charges. but a judge gave him permission to travel with his attorney next week during the talk show taping welch will encourage law enforcement officers to seek help if they are under stress. welch's attorney says he was under stress because of health issues at the time of the crimes. oakland man is being called a hero after rescuing a

disabled man from a burning apartment building. that happened yesterday on 82nd and international. 41-year-old james jackson was talking with friends hen he says he heard a disabled man was trapped in a burning apartment. he ran to the scene, jumped a fence and made his way up to the second story balcony but he was knocked over by a big blast. >> without thinking i jumped right back up there. because right before that blast i had his hand. he said don't let him die. and i told him i'm not. >> jackson pulled him out and used a garden hose totous the 65-year-old man until firefighters arrived. that man is being treated for serious burns but without jackson's help he may have died. in alameda there were two fires just minutes apart. oakland crews were called in to help. that was about 8:45. now firefighters say it started on the second story balcony and

spread to the attic. meanwhile alameda crews were busy battling a fire about three blocks away on central avenue. no reports of any injuries. the alameda firefighters association says it will make a donation to a local breast cancer charity instead of the susan g. komen foundation. backlash is growing following komen's decision to cut breast cancer screening grants to planned parenthood. they will donate $2800 to the san francisco based breast cancer fund. meanwhile california seven komen afelluates have denounced the national decision. we're asking you our viewers on facebook this morning what you think about the decision by the susan g. komen foundation. walter writes, it's their money. they should do whatever they want with it. send us a message to our ktvu channel 2 morning news team on facebook and we will share some of the comments coming up in the next hour. right now it's 4:37.

in just about an hour the labor department will announce the january jobs report. most economists expect the unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 8.5% but they also forecast a slight increase in the numbers of jobs created last month. it's especially difficult to predict what the numbers will show because the government does not do a particularly good job of accounting for seasonal hiring during the holidays. today president obama will unvail a new jobs program specifically for military veterans. the veterans jobs corp will be based on the civilian conservation corp. the corp will rebuild roads, levees, and trails on public lands. it's expected to put 20,000 veterans to work. veterans have an unemployment rate higher than nonveterans. a surprise from the donald coming up at 4:46. donald unvails which candidate he's endorsing for the republican presidential

nomination. the 49ers have taken another big step forward in their drive for a new stadium in santa clara. nfl owners have approved a $200 million loan to fund the construction of a new stadium. the team says this is the last piece of the complex financial puzzle to build the billion dollar stadium. city leaders in santa clara ecstatic. >> this is a contribution of $200 million toward the project and the city of santa clara is not responsible for a single penny of the billion dollars for the stadium. not a single penny. >> now construction on the new 68,000 stadium -- seat stadium is set to begin later this year. it is expected to be open in time for the start of the 2015 season. the first phase of the made over metreon is open today.

it stood empty for years. the san francisco business times reports once all the stores are open, it is expected to generate $15 million in tax revenue and provide 700 permanent jobs. time 4:39. time to check in with sal. i know we are start off with quite a big problem this morning. >> that is right they are moving an accident off the bay bridge. i want to show you pictures we got. these dramatic pictures on the bridge show people being moved off the span after a crash that involved several vehicles and blocked the three left lanes. westbound bay bridge on the incline section now. they have just recently started to open up those lanes. and if we are lucky, we won't have any lingering effects. oakland fire department and several police officers were on the scene here. this accident that happened just after 4:00 this morning. let's move along to live pictures now. this is a look at the bridge

now. looks like they have completely opened all the lanes on the bridge. the sign is still there saying there is a crash, but that sign will probably be changed in a moment. so westbound bay bridge now the lanes are open and it doesn't look like we'll have any lingering effects because the crash was so early. and here in san jose northbound 280 traffic looks good getting up to highway 17. 4:40 let's go to steve. thank you very much. on this friday morning mostly clear out there. patchy fog though out toward the valley. fairfield, vacaville. what is interesting at the surface there is a little bit of a west wind. in the higher elevations it's a northeast. i've seen 20-35 miles an hour wind up in the higher elevations. fog, cold, fair a lot of 30s here. mostly sunny by noon. there is still a few high clouds around.

30s for many. san rafael is right at 40. so is livermore. san jose at 42. redwood city hanging in there at 40. there is the west wind at sfo. a little different pattern here. high pressure still will hold things in bay. keep things in check. a lot coming across here. it won't do much until late sunday. we're all right for the weekend so make the plans no worries there. increasing clouds. it does look like rain on tuesday. high pressure bills in and gives us a nice day. but again i think you know unless that northeast wind wipes out that west wind. mostly sunny. high clouds. the weekend looks good. night and morning fog and then sun. temperatures today in the low to mid 60s with a few 50s. there is a component of an on shore breeze. we'll take it into the weekend

good morning. we have lots of patchy fog out there. a few high clouds. it's cool out there. 30s and 40s. we'll end up with mostly sunny skies today. quite a different picture in denver. it's bracing for one of the heaviest snowstorms in the city's history. right now only light dusting but the region is expected to get about two feet of snow later in the day. you can see the city will have more than 100 snowplows working around the clock. they are getting ready. there are no classes for students today and the denver airport is canceling 150 flights. one person is in custody after nearly seven hour standoff at a newark home. that happened on cedar boulevard. police say ate all began with a carjacking that took place in fremont wednesday overnight. the swat team surrounded the

home at noon and made an arrest at about 7:00. in egypt at least two people are dead. hundreds of others are injured as protests over a deadly soccer riot continues. we want to take you there live to cairo this morning. take a look. egyptian started to storm the streets last night to demonstrate against the country's police force. now they claim officers stood by and did nothing to stop the deadly soccer riot that killed 74 people earlier this week. some protestors also say the riot is evident that egypt's military rulers need to resign immediately. in a surprise move donald trump is endorsing mitt romney for president. >> he's not going to allow bad things to continue to happen to this country that we all love. so governor romney go out and get them. you can do it. >> trump announced his endorsement at his hotel in las

vegas. actress and comedian rose ann barr says she is running for president. the green party all select its nominee at its convention in baltimore in july. video tapes of the trial of proposition 8 california same sex marriage ban will not be made public. the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco ruled against releasing the videos. it based its ruling ons the promise by trial judge vaughn walker that the rulings would not be broadcast. they did not say when they would rule on the bigger issue. 4:48 the defense is now preparing to cross examine a key witness in the san francisco murder trial of a convicted gang member.

edwin ramose -- ramos is convicted of killing two. albert martinez testified that ramos helped initiate him into a violent street gang. and he says they would often quote hunt for rival gang members together. >> give intimate insight knowledge of the ms13 gang and there is an allegation against mr. ramos he is a member of that gang. >> a rat is a rat. for someone of his character to be used as a witness it's disgusting. >> now ramos is charged with killing anthony and his two sons while they were driving home from a family picnic. the prosecution contends he mistook them for rival fang members -- gang members. a marine accused of killing

four homeless men have been linked to two deaths. anaheim police confirmed that he was involved in the killing of a woman and her son back in october. police arrested another man in the case back in january. they would not specify the connection between the two but he is being held without bail. investigators are looking into his involvement in more stabbings in the area. elle sir row toe high school will hold a memorial service for the 18-year-old that died after a skate boarding accident. flowers and candles now stand along marin street for tyler. the driver says he didn't see him. doctors took him off life support on wednesday. >> i don't wish this on anybody. and it's something that has to come out of this. something good. i don't want any parent to go through what i'm going through. >> de march martini's mother

hopes others will learn about his accident. drivers facing traffic fines can usually go to court to fight their tickets. and the odds are you can beat that ticket if it came from the oakland police department. a judge for the city's traffic court says oakland officers don't show up to court 40% of the time. when that happens cases are dismissed and drivers don't have to pay the $480 fine. chief howard jordan says the department became aware of the problem after an audit. now opd is getting ready to discipline officers that do not show up for the court. >> i intend to hold them accountable for not attending traffic court. this is a very serious matter. it's an order from a judge to show up. citizens have a right to contest traffic citations. >> traffic court in oakland hear 32,000 cases a year. 4:51 is the time right now.

welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news. you're looking at a collection of gold nuggets. historical nuggets valued at more than $3 million were stolen from a northern california courthouse. the burglar happened on wednesday night. just not far from the oregon border. the sheriff office says two men broke into the building and grabbed several gold nuggets from a display in the lobby. they do have surveillance video of the burglar. the courthouse is home to historical collection of gold which pays homage to the region's gold rush roots.

a vacaville firefighter found evidence of a crime he knew a lot about. lewis jones was sent to a home on sunset drive. when he arrived he saw a washer and drier that had been stolen from a home he owned and planned to rent out. the man that needed medical help was transported to the hospital and jones called police. they found other items stolen from jones property at the home of another mobile home park resident. amazing. 4:54. we want to go back to sal to look at the commute. bay bridge. how does it look? >> it does look okay. as a matter of fact, we do have a look at the crash that happened just a few moments ago. i want to go to this video that we have westbound on the bridge. traffic is moving along pretty well. no major problems this morning. also the morning commute on the bridge now looks pretty good. so we were lucky this crash that we had on the bridge did not cause any major problems here. also the morning commute on san francisco freeways looks good

but we are just finding out about a crash in san francisco this would be northbound 280 near the ocean geneva exit. 4:55 let's go to steve. hey, sal. >> yes, sir. >> 400 flights canceled at denver because of a big snowstorm. that may come back here if you have a flight to denver you are probably not going to make it today. we do have mostly clear skies. there is fog. a little bit of patchy fog on the coast. combination of two with a west wind at the surface means whether have a nice day. they were by far the warmest. everyone else is around the mid 60s. fog, cold, fair. mostly sunny. a few light clouds breakthrough. 30s on the temps or 40s. concord down to 35. livermore 38. it's getting colder. a west wind at the surface. you get up in the oakland hills it's northeast about 30-35. you don't usually see that.

that northeast made it to the surface we would really warm up. i think the west wind would hold. there is fog there and a few high clouds. i think that just keeps our temperatures where they were yesterday. more so in the mid 60s and low 70s. a lot of cloud cover coming across. it won't impact us until late sunday. monday increasing clouds. storm track stays north through the weekend. everything is fine. weekend looks good. maybe fog. nights and mornings. mostly sunny during the day and temperatures about where they are right here. upper 50s, low 60s here. not as warm for you folks in santa rosa. 50s to 60s the warmest toward gilroy and santa cruz. that's exactly what they were yesterday. the extended outlook shows nights and mornings fog. rain on tuesday. >> all right. we'll look for that thank you. san francisco sheriff back in court today. the new request he's making involving the right to see his
