able to get themselves out. they were treated at the scene and released. a man told deputies another car cut them off but the crash is still under investigation. it happened 12:30 near highway 84. a speeding car burst into flames after rolling over several times. that crash briefly shut down the freeway, both the driver and passenger received medical treatment at the scene and no other cars were involved. san jose joined us with more on what they said about this case, good morning paul. >> reporter: there are several officers out here behind us and they are giving us very little information but this is what we

know. officers got a 911 call of shots fired in blackford avenue. it appears the shooting happened in the interior courtyard of this apartment complex. once on the scene they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound in the rear of the complex, his identity is being held as investigators are notifying his family. they are looking for multiple people involving the shooting and they ran in separate directions, officers do not have a motive but crime stoppers are offering a reward. we will stay on top of this and bring you the latest as it develops. we have seen flashes going off because of photographs and we have not been able to talk to officers to bring us additional

information but once we do have additional information we will bring it to you. they are investigating a shooting from just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. police found carol marie brooks with a gunshot wound. she later died at the hospital. police say witnesses tell them they saw a man leaving the area of the victim's home in a silver car, no arrests have been made. an overnight shooting has left one man in critical condition. it happened at about 1:30 this morning. we are told the victim was shot in the stomach, he was rushed to the hospital where he did undergo surgery. witnesses tell us that a suspect was detained after police surrounded a home near the shooting scene. oakland police are looking for a suspect in a driveby shooting in broad daylight. six people were wounded near

33rd street in west oakland late yesterday afternoon. the gunfire created a disturbing crime scene and they placed nearly 50 evidence markers outside the home where the shooting took place. neighbors have become increasingly upset with the violence right outside their home. >> we are spending more times on this occupied stuff instead of trying to help these kids out here. >> and police tell us, five young men, one young woman was wounded in the shooting. it is still not clear what led up to that gunfire. and an overnight water-main in the fruit district. a small river of water gushed into the streets after the water-main burst. the water did not damage any

homes though. crews have been working for several hours working to fix and clean up the mess. but they could be there for several more hours. occupied pro testifieders -- occupied protesters discussed details with starts at 8:30 at the courthouse. a noontime rally will follow at frank ogawa plaza and then at 1:00 back to the courthouse. that is where some of the 400 people were arrested after they were set to be arraigned. occupied protesters held a march saturday night, about 70 marchers left to police headquarters. they followed them through some social media sites and however, police say there were no reports of vandalism. redwood special education

teacher was or rested after -- was arrested after suspicion of abusing two students. she is accused of physically abusing two, four-year-old boys housed at the preschool class. they did not give details of the abuse but it was not sexual in nature. it has been canceled tomorrow and wednesday following the arrest of two teachers accused of committing lewd acts against teachers. some parents will not sent their kids to class. two teachers were arrested last week and one is accused of committing lewd acts against 23 students and another is accused of fondling two girls in his classroom. and a warehouse fire on the island, that fire started 10:00

yesterday morning in a 150,000 square foot structure. black smoke could be seen for miles across the bay. firefighters got the flames out from a distance. dozens of onlookers stopped at the scene to see that fire close-up. >> i just saw this massive plume, i got my son and i thought it was at the state park. i just kept driving until i got here. >> the cause of the fire is under investigation but fire officials say homeless people stay in the warehouse and the camp fire may be to blame. well super bowl 46 is now in the books after a wild finish in indianapolis. >> here to the end zone... >> tom brady's hail mary pass could not fine its way -- find its way to the hands of his

. a seattle area man is suspected in his wife's appearance, he blew himself up, killing himself and two young sons. he brought the boys to the powell home for a super advised visit, he blocked the social worker and she called supervisor to report the smell of gas, moments later the house exploded. he sent an e-mail saying quote, i'm sorry, goodbye. >> this is all on him, he set this up, he did it, he is the one who started the fire. >> now last week a judge denied

powell custody of his boys and police say he was a person of interest in the case of his missing wife, she vanished in 2009 in utah. at least 13 people are dead after a strong earthquake shook the philippines. it hit last night in the central part of the country, 400 miles away from the capital city of manila. the quake led them to briefly issue a tsunami alert but it has since been canceled. officials are talking about land slides around the country. >> syrian government is denying any shelling is taking place and despite the denial, one human rights group says the shelling has killed 12 people in addition to the 200 people who died over the weekend.

americans here in the bay area protested outside the consulate, they are calling for the president to step down. >> there is a lot of potential with the syrian people and we have been held back for so long and it does not work anymore. >> and the california chapter, they organized a protest and we were unable to reach anyone from the russian consulate at this point. egypt's government will put 19 americans and two other dozen employees on trial. it includes sam la hood, ray la hood, they are accused of using foreign financing to spread unrest in the country they are

threatening to hold back aid to egypt if the charges against the americans are not dropped. time now, today a hearing will determine whether the captain of the costa concordia should remain under house arrest. now the captain faces problems as they work to extract more than 2300 tons of diesel fuel from the ship. seven other people are still missing. in election news, he is moving on to three states, colorado, minnesota and missouri. two hours ago we got the final vote count in nevada. as projected, mitt romney came in with 50% of the vote and competition was initially

reported. newt gingrich got 21%. rick santorum finished last with 10%. a new poll shows president barack obama widening his lead over mitt romney if the front- runner becomes the gop. he now leads mitt romney among registered voters by 51 to 45%. the improving economy is boosting the president's number in order to connect with average americans. a hearing will be held for the used gunman for the mass shooting in tucson. a judge will determine whether kyle love should stay at the facility where he is being medicated. he is in missouri and a prison psychologist testified kyle love is still not competent to stand trial.
