good morning, paul. >> reporter: the mayor was elected in 2010 and of course this is going into her second term. she has had issues dealing with micromanagement and the mayor last week made some major strides in the city by naming permanent police since then taken off the mayor has done a lot trying to combat the city's crime trials, but this is what some are calling the defining moment of her term is the occupied situation, they have criticized her roll and how sheehaneled it. they allowed them to camp outside city hall and police and protesters battled it out with officers in riot gear, protesters have shut down the port of oakland and it does not

appear they will be let out any time soon. they have recall efforts and he would address those situations and that address will happen here at city hall. paul claim first, ktvu channel 2 news. police are investigating two separate crime scenes. he was brought to a hotel immediately after he was shot. it is not clear what led up to the gunfire. police are looking for suspects and witnesses. and in just a couple of hours, sheriff ross mirkarimi returns to family court. he is still fighting the stay away order and a judge barred him from seeing his son and wife after his arrest after

domestic violence charges. now ktvu channel 2 news has obtained court documents hoping to put sheriff ross mirkarimi's former girlfriend on the witness stand. she dated sheriff ross mirkarimi in 2007 and 2008 and she describes him as an extremely aggressive manipulative person having a volatile temperature. he strongly denies her claims. >> a man is behind bars after firing a gun outside of school. police responded yesterday afternoon. he was wearing body armor and shooting a gun at cars and at people. officers say he charged at that and was resistant to tazers. police say extra ammunition and more guns were found at his nearby apartment. it is exciting and more

dangerous, swells could reach 16 feet. in pacifica, there is a high surf advisory, claudine wong? >> reporter: you can see signs are up warning people about the dangers of these waves and we are walking up on the pier and we have seen people coming back out here, take a look at these waves. if you take a look they have been booming all morning long and they have been crashing into some of the walkway areas. it's going to be like this all morning long and throughout the day, steve paulsen said we have swells between 16 and 30 feet every 15 seconds and we have 18 feet at local beaches. we have talked to some folks who were so caught up by the site of these waves and they actually came to check it out. >> it is so big.

california's ban was unconstitutional. justice has ruled proposition 8 classified gay lesbian couples inferior to opposite sex couples. >> in this country we do not put basic civil rights to a court of the people and as the court had done they said this is not america. >> the court is always disappointed when you have judges overruling the will of the people but this was totally expected. >> the california same sex marriage ban is still in effect until there is a final decision on an emotional case. now opponents say they will immediately appeal the ruling and they can take the case to the full appellate court and it is more likely they will hope to settle the issue once and for all. a high court could issue a

. welcome back, time now 6:14 a marin county man set a huge warehouse fire one that destroyed history. mark anderson was convicted of starting a fire that destroyed 4 million bottles of wine that were worth $2 million. he stored wine on the island and some clients suspected he was selling their wines. this fire you are looking at destroyed evidence of the theft. he was at the scene just hours after the fire was out and asking questions. >> who do you think started the

son, tara? >> reporter: it appears the explosion started in the bathroom and there is hash residue. police are investigating the possibility of a drug run and if you look behind me you can see the explosion busted out the front windows. we got an inside look and this is video you will only see on 2. two people were involved last night, a woman and her 12- year-old son were badly burned. we understand they are in the burn unit recovering and they are expected to survive. the man who lives here is the woman's fiance and he stepped outside to get something from his car when the blast happened. there was a brief fire and police are questioning the woman because of evidence they discovered on scene. to make hash oil and people put marijuana into a tube heat it up so they can extract the th

minor injuries. he will be taken into custody once he is released from the hospital there is no word on what led to that pursuit. mayor jean quan is getting ready to deliver her state address and she has a lot to talk about over the last 12 months, good morning paul. >> reporter: discuss and other issues before her, we all know this is her second year on the job. she was able to make great strides when she was announcing new permanent police and fire chiefs and since then, she has done a lot to combat crime with the 100 block initiative. but her latest battle is the occupied situation. many people have come out and criticized her role for first

about the federal agent plus we will hear from a neighbor who called 911. a man accused of droning them in her dorm room and he unlocked the dorm rooms and groped five women. escobar did not live on campus. he lost an appeal to have its operating hours restored. last night city council voted to extend the hours from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the bar was accused of violating its conditional use permit. they will have a chance to appeal in 90 days. san francisco retail stores will not be able to handout plastic bags.

. a woman and her son are in a hospital after her home exploded. her fiance said their growing operation may well have caused this operation. this is now under investigation. they are looking for suspects in an early morning shooting with two separate crime scenes and friends of the victim took them to a hotel immediately after he was shot and wounded in the tenderloin. that victim is expected to survive. rick santorum shook up the race with a three state sweep yesterday. rick santorum won in colorado along with the nonbinding primary in missouri. and you are warned to be wear of rip currents in

68 on the temperatures, if you are stepping out, slow down because visibility can be awful. visibility is reported which is punched off and high humidity, a lot of moisture in the air so if you are out working out, it may feel warm out there. warming today and tomorrow, we will cool it down friday with a light offshore northerly breeze but there is a component of it, 40s for some, a few 50s towards mountain view, a big whopper generating waves and the moisture source continues to come up from the northwest. these are mild warm systems and they are tracking up towards eureka and crescent city. by afternoon everybody will be in on that, a little cool down

and heading to the chinese parade, sunday increasing clouds, giving us a mostly cloudy day. facebook's recent ipo filing reveals' the social network's growth has slowed. and europe and asia are also seeing slower growth. in the past, facebook said it could target china and it has admitted there could be problems satisfying the chinese government's censorship policies. facebook is not commenting since they have filed for an ipo. mcdonald's is announcing they are giving in and they are showing off shamrock shakes and they are given a choice whether to serve the milk shake or not. that is creating a colt like following and it will remain on the menu until march 25th. it is one of those stories
