coromandel, new zealand. rhys cochrane was alerted by the department of conservation. rhys shot it. he dove down there with a knife, right in the face of this orca, otherwise known as a killer whale. >> yeah. >> cut the rope, set the orca free amidst not only this one but the other ones that came to the scene. >> this is like a scene out of the movie, like "free willy 4". >> a brave and daring underwater rescue and rhys cochrane is joining us right this minute from new zealand to tell us about it. >> how is it going there, mate? >> when you dove down there, i have to imagine you have to have feared for your own life? >> i wasn't too scared of the one that was entangled. the other ones that were around me they were pretty scary. one of them turned on its back and had a little look at me and the other one was actually nudging the rope that was caught around the orca and maybe trying to help it. >> take us through step by step of how you freed this orca under

the water? >> first of all i jumped in with the camera to see how badly it was tangled and i noticed there was cuts on the orca's head and body as well as around the tail. i looked around a couple times, so i just jumped in with the knife. didn't react too much to me jumping in the water. stayed quite still. i was easily able to grab on to the tail of the orca and just cut it free. >> so what did this orca do the moment you cut him from this beau which. >> he didn't actually notice straight away he was cut, but he soon found out and swam away. a sheriff's deputy in indian river, florida, was fired on friday for an excessive force incident that was captured on dash cam video. this incident happened back in august. deputy jeff ludslo and another deputy have arrested jamie brown. he was suspected of battery and for failing to register as a sex

offender. they get him in the car and as you can see, the suspect is yam tated. >> [ bleep ] you. >> at one point, depply ludslo told another deputy to stop the car. >> he's saying kill me. >> you see the car stop. now what sheriff's investigators say happened and what the deputy put in his report was two different things. you see the suspect looking around like what's going on, and then you see him ask and beg, don't taiz me. >> don't you taiz me. >> and that is when ludslo, according to police, tased him using excessive force. >> that's a long taiz. >> better stop or you're going to get it again. >> did you hear that, you're going to get hit again. >> better stop, you're going to

get it again. >> in the police report he said, i had to stop and shackle him and after that, he kicked me and struck me. >> don't you taiz me. >> the dash cam video tells a completely different story. the coastal florida police association said ludslo vehemently disagrees with the findings. he will vigorously challenge the results. i don't know what you guys are going to say about this story. this is one of the craziest stories of bad sportsmenship i've ever heard. it happened in this lovely golf community called eagle mountain resort in eagle mountain lake, texas. you guys have played golf before. sometimes you get a slow four-some in front of you and we're going to play through. that's what happened. a threesome decided to play through a slower foursome. >> golf is a gentlemen's game so a lot of times you say go ahead. >> this did not happen at eagle

mountain resort. a war of words started between someone in the threesome and somebody in the foursome. the argument got ugly and reportedly a member of the foursome took a broken golf club shaft and stabbed a guy in the leg twice who was in the threesome. >> this guy is bleeding profusely. he just passed out. you need to get somebody out here now. >> what happened to him? >> he's [ inaudible ] a golf club. >> this is one of the members of the foursome that called 911. >> they'll be there in just a couple minutes. >> artery -- >> that could be deadly. >> it gets worse. clay carpenter, the victim, ended up passing out from blood loss. the ambulance and the rescue team did get there and get him to the hospital and he was treated and released over the weekend. but, he had so much blood loss he may have to lose his leg because of lack of blood flow in that leg during the time of his injury. >> how do you fall on a broken

golf club that happens to server your artery while in a fight with people. >> according to reports. it wasn't a fall, it was, in fact, a stab. >> did they arrest anybody in this? >> the matter is currently ender investigation. >> you can't stab somebody on a golf course. >> you can't stab somebody anywhere. when you're on vacation with your family the last thing you want to have happen is a close encounter with a beast. unfortunately, that is exactly what happened with this family of 6-year-old river. as you can see his face is mangled. while the family was walking to their lodge at the big ben national park, a mountain lion came out and started attacking little river. >> so the cat was clamped on his face. reached down and got my pocket knife out, stabbed the cat in the chest. >> the cat finally let go and got away. they were able to save little river from any further damage.

>> we're lucky that it didn't take his eye or get his neck or anything. >> ian't think of aything more terrifying than seeing wild animal come at your young child. >> get this, little river says he didn't cry. >> no, not -- >> brave little kid. >> after the attack the family went to the lodge they were staying at to notify managers. >> they made a decision right there in front of me they were not going to make an announcement to all the guests there was a mountain lion attack outside and that the animal is still at large. >> wow. i got to question that decision to not alert the people in your camp that there's mountain lions -- i've been camping before. rangers will tell you, yell out, and report the sighting. >> that same day there were two mountain lion attacks. at this point we don't know what happened to the mountain lion because it has not been found. some fishermen out on the ice, realize something is wrong here. how one big crack led to one

i got a fish tale for you guys that blows all other fish tales out of the water because look at what they pulled out of the water in karachi, pakistan. this is a 40-foot long whale shark. six feet wide. this weighs between six and seven tons and almost looks fake. >> yeah. >> i thought it was fake. when you brought it up, i was like is that at universal studios. >> pakistani fishermen pulled this thing out of the water using five cranes, ten days after they saw the thing in the water laying unconscious. it was dead when they pulled it out of the water. >> according to national geographic the whale shark is the world's largest fish. this is a perfect example. look at this thing. >> also according to national geographic although these things can be kind of imposing and scary, they're rather docile.

they feed on plannington and not scary fish and they'll let like a swimmer go for a ride. >> that's the kind of shark i like. >> according to pakistani newspaper, "the express tribune" this thing was sold for 1.7 million rupees which comes out to between 18 and $19,000. the fish is often sold for its meat and oil. imagine if you were one of these people here and you go home and you're like, they pulled a fish out of water, seriously this big. i don't know if i believe it. it was really this big. >> it would take seven people to say it was this big. put our arms together to say it was this big. next time on "right this minute" -- >> pigeons that are raised are like thoroughbreds. >> if you like sports it has all of the thrills of any of them. >> that's next time on "right this minute." a rope, a board, water and an artificial leg.

wisconsin this time of year. this happened on the bay at green bay in little swamico. we got this from wluk, fox 11. some people were out fishing on the bay in green bay and as they're out on the ice, some fishermen start walking around and realizing something is wrong here. you see the guy in the background and look at this big, long line. >> is that a crack in the ice? >> yes. that is a giant crack in the ice. >> oh. >> the ice was starting to move away from the other pieces of ice near the shore. >> the crack becogins to get wider. we got out to head to the shore but it was already open. >> did i see they were out there on four wheelers and stuff too? did they bring their cars and four wheels out too? >> people take their ice fishing incredibly seriously. there were seven fishermen and a 3-year-old who ended up being

rescued. look what they brought out to rescue these guys. >> an air boat. >> usually only see those in florida. >> they're using it to rescue the ice fishermen. they had to take two trips out to bring the seven fishermen and 3-year-old back to shore. that was the coast guard to brought in to assist to make sure the people made it to shore safely. >> what happened to all those quads? did they sink or left -- >> oh the humanity, the quads. >> not the motorcycles. >> some of the quads are still out there on the ice and they have to wait until the ice connects again to get them back to shore safely. summer is around the corner. and we're all going to be out in the water again. shawn rhinegouts is out there at ski ricks and cable park in deerfield beach, florida. i never seen a cable park. if you want to do water sports like this you need a boat to

pull you along. this is cables that run back and forth to pull you all over the place. >> whoa. ♪ >> shawn is a pro, but take a closer look at shawn. >> he has a prosthetic. >> he does have a prosthetic. his leg below his left knee was amputated in an accident he had when he was just 19. he was working at a fishery and a forklift ran over him. took both his feet out. he had to have one prosthetic fitted, but once he was able to get back on the water he was right back to the same tricks and flips that he was doing before the accident. tell us a little bit more about his riding, shawn rhinegouts joins us right this minute via skype. tell me a little bit about your recovery and does it make any difference in the way you wakeboard that you have a prosthetic? >> yeah, it does. i mean it's harder to keep my leg on the water. my leg is held on so i have to

use duct tape to get 100% seal. and sometimes if i fall hard enough my leg will come off. >> what kind of competitions are you entering? is it standard competitions or are you competing with other people who have prosthetics? >> there's actually one contest i do compete in that's for all people with disabilities, but majority of the contests i compete in are against able bodies. >> when you had the accident did you think you would be able to get back out and do what you are doing now? >> i did. i had seen videos and pictures of other amputees running and, you know, things like the possibilities were endless. it's just a matter of your attitude and your motivation, i guess. >> i'm sure as you're traveling around you run into a lot of people. do you have other amputees that come up to you and tell you that you're in a way an inspiration for them to get out and try doing sports? >> i do. that's what kind of helps motivate me and keeps me going and makes me keep wanting to go forward with everything.
