remove the tree but would like the storm to ease up for safety. let's go to ktvu's chief meteorologist bill martin. >> scattered showers headed your way right now. picking out what is left of the weather system that moved through last night and this afternoon. you see the showers. we will go to the latest shower activity that is dying down. mountain view, palo alto, showers out here along the highway. south of crystal springs. showers are dying down. rainfall accumulations are pretty light for this time of year. we did get lot of wind. i expect that is what happened to the trees. winds gusting to 35 miles per hour and we had airport issues. when i come back, there is a chance for more showers this

week. see you back here. the rain caused traffic problems. a car ran off the road on highway 24 this morning and ended up facing the wrong direction. they slowed traffic while emergency crews helped the driver. he braved the rain downtown while others as you see simply made a run for it. police have uncovered new information about a robbery suspect who was barricaded into a home that caught fire friday night. smoke began rising from the house. ktvu's paul chambers is live with the link investigators found between the house and one of the suspects. >> reporter: there is two new pieces of information. the first one had to do with the robbery victim. the second is a link that is

between one of the suspects and this home. >> reporter: we were here today as the red cross met with one of the two people that rented this home. friday police surrounded the house, leaving several men involved in a armed robbery was inside. >> there is evidence that links the suspects to the robbery. the car is linked to the house. >> reporter: according to police the suspect beat up and robbed a man that came here to mumps american. investigators say after that, the suspects came back. >> they went out the back. we were in surveillance of the house the entire time. >> reporter: investigators say male clothing connects one of the suspects to the car and to the robbery and the home. a home that caught fire after police shot gas inside.

people who live in the area blame police for the fire. however investigators say the gas used is nonflammable. >> we don't know what caused it. we don't know if it was a candled inside, there were a couple of dogs inside. >> reporter: police have several leads on the suspects. so far there are no arrests made. live, paul chambers, ktvu channel 2 news. rain hampered crews today in their search for more human remains. ktvu's ken pritchett is there with the reason they believe there is a lot more to find. ken? >> reporter: we are starting to lose our light here. investigators would be working at that dig site right now but for the rain. we are looking now, zooming in on the search location, which

is a mile from here, underneath a tree. the past three days, hundreds of bones have been found. how many victims and how many other sites may exist that remains unknown. >> reporter: it is flood road that leads to the dig site, an appropriate name given the rain. >> flooded. puddled. slippery. >> reporter: this is what the site looked like yesterday where you see this 45-foot deep hole there was an abandon well. investigators shifted dirt, finding bones. as well as shoes, coats and a ring. investigators were led to this and two other sites by mapped drawn by wesley shermantine. he and loren herzog were accused of a drug killing spree. investigators believe 20 women may have fallen victim. >> wesley shermantine said one

of the wells is on loren herzog's property that holds 12 bodies. >> reporter: he paid wesley shermantine for information that led investigators to the dig. loren herzog killed himself after learning about the maps. he believes another well on this property holds more bodies. they will investigate. >> if it means digging it up like this one, that may occur. >> reporter: the family has property nearby. the sheriff's department didn't indication if the search will move except right here. the extent of the dig, it will be several days before they have the site cleared. at the very least we will be here and bring you the results. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. stay with us on www.ktvu.com as well for the latest developments on the search for

more remains. a man suspected of killing his roommate and dumping the body has turned himself in. he was found dead wednesday near his home. his roommate, michael wyatt surrendered yesterday. he served deafen years for killing a former roommate 15 years ago. investigators are trying to figure out what led to a shooting that left one man dead. police received reports of shots fired. they found a man's body in a driveway. authorities haven't identified the victim but say he was in his 20s. >> reporter: police have arrested an adult care taker suspected of defrauding elderly clients. he was arrest -- she was arrested on saturday. police found financial information that they say was

stolen. a 5.6 earthquake shoot northern california this afternoon. it hit after 1:00 p.m. in hum but county. the shaking lasted 45 seconds. no reports of damage or injuries. regulators are reviewing claims there are flaws in pg&e's pipelines. they reported the flows to the california public utilities commission last week. the report says some pg&e pipelines are corroded, have welding flaws. workers wanted to make sure the company heard their voices today. >> they held a rally this afternoon000 facility.

said there were prescription drugs bottles found in whitney houston hotel room saturday. the number was not unusual. and police said whitney houston was found underwater in a bath tub. an autopsy was performed yesterday. officials say the cause of death will take several weeks since the toxicology test are still outstanding. $500 today. they have been on a roll since it reported sales. apple surpassed exon as the most valuable company in the world. some say it could become the first trillion dollars company. apple shares are up 9 dollars a share. dow and nasdaq started on a positive note, the dow is up 73 points to 12,874. the nasdaq was up 28 to 2,931. the numbers reflect relief after greek lawmakers approved cuts to stabilize the financial crisis there. concerns rainy weather might bring down a tree in oakland forced the closure of a ramp but it was too wet to take down the tree so they will do it tomorrow. our chief meteorologist

49ers freddy solomon passed away. a gentleman, he truly was one. he had cancer, colon and liver cancer and he was just 59 years old, passed away in florida today. one of the great friends of the 49ers organization to say the least. in 1979, when i got this job, he was one of the first guys i ever met, he would ask you your name, how your family was doing and you don't see that too often, truly to be missed by not just the 49ers organization, a great athlete, i will miss him. freddy solomon. happy to call him a friend. >> neat story. >> yeah. athletes, do the interview, get out of here, move on, but he would be like, how is the famy doing, made sure he knew your
