be closed from friday evening february 17th at 8:00 until morning of february 21st. now, let's go back to the desk. topping our news, police in vallejo are searching for two gunman following a shootout at a strip mall. several people are hurt including a three-year-old girl. tara moriarty joins us with more, tara? >> reporter: evidence technicians wrapped up their investigation and store owners are getting ready to board up all of their storefronts. they are sweeping and cleaning up the glass inside tina's nail salon and you can see where the bullet holes are in the front. three people were struck by bullets last night. two men walked into the store last night and targeted a female worker. after shots rang out, they reportedly returned to polish off the job that is when he pulled out his own gun and

fired back. it turned into a rolling gun battle and the violence started at springs road. several businesses nearby were ridelled with bullet holes including domino's pizza and two parked cars across the street. witnesses say they were shaken up. >> i got on the floor and i protected my baby. >> reporter: now the three-year- old daughter of one of the workers received a gunshot wound and she was taken to the medical center in oakland. the grandmother was also shot twice in the arm as well as one other woman. at least two other people were shot and we learned that a gunman took himself to the hospital to get treated but police are not releasing much information about the shooting except to say they are searching for two armed gunman. they are getting ready to board up that store in front that is

an appliance store and as we receive more information we will continue to update you. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. we have more information about a deadly shooting in antioch. a homeowner shot and killed an intruder who tried to break into his house. it happened at a home on wechsler weak. he was watching television when his seven-year-old child when somebody tried to kick in his front door. he grabbed his gunshot the intruder who stumbled onto the front lawn and died. police are now questioning that homeowner. two men are in jail after leading a chase through two east bay cities. it happened in berkeley at about 2:00 this morning. the suspect backed a stolen car into a police car causing minor damage. nobody was hurt but investigators say the chase

began when officers pulled them over for appoint nor -- for a minor traffic offense. two people safely escaped their burning apartment in oakland. it happened before is 230 -- 12:30. flames were coming from the second floor of the building and spread to the attic. two people were inside and they were able to get out safely. it took 35 minutes to put out the fire but the cause is still under investigation. the search for more victims could resume in san joaquin valley valley. they halted their search yesterday because of the rain and so far crews have found the remains of up to 20 victims along with shoes coats and a purse. their search area could expand to a second area on the property. >> we will do our best to look

at all the wells that are here and somehow determine whether or not there is remains there and if it means digging it up like we did this one, that may very well occur. >> reporter: now the case is linked to death row inmate valentine and herzegovina. he killed the two last month in their oakland home before hiding the bodies inside the family car. as a result that 15-year-old is being charged as an adult. today's hearing is set to get underway at 2:00 p.m. the driver of a san francisco shuttle bus involved in a crash is due in court today. wallace is scheduled to be arraigned this morning. he is charged with vehicular man slaughter. police say he was driving a shuttle bus and ran a red light at oak and octavia and collided

with a big-rig. the passenger in the bus was killed. time now 4:35, a south bay nightclub owner has been charged with raping one of his patrons. she claims she was raped by him inside his home last month. his attorney said he was a friend of his client and she asked to be taken home in downtown san jose which is owned by him. according to court documents she went to bed in a guest bedroom and woke to having her clothes being pulled off and getting raped. >> i have nothing to say other than the fact that she certainly was not raped. >> reporter: his wife and daughter were also in the house and he was due -- he is due back in court for the

arrangement and he will plead not guilty. same sex couples will head to county clerk -- to the county clerk to request marriage licenses. this is video at the county clerk's office and their request for a marriage license will be denied because currently same sex marriages in california is not legal. in washington state, they made washington the 7th state to legalize gay marriages. it is scheduled to take place on june 7th but they have time collect signatures to overturn the ref dumb. -- referendum. this morning, several dogs are flying to new york city to find new homes.

allie rasmus is at fso where a red carpet is being rolled out for a group of dogs, allie? >> reporter: you can see at the san francisco dog shelter, there are 17 dogs leaving and boarding a flight. apparently there is an over abundance here of these dogs and you can see the cute little i love new york colors. they are on their way there to find new homes. this is not the first time they have done this and they are holding a friend, buster brown plus he has his own little i love new york color. as you said there is an over abundance here in california and a high demand in new york and they have been providing us with flights, this is our 4th

flight where they will move through the shelter system quickly and they move very quickly in new york they want them badly and they go very quickly. it is a great opportunity for these dogs to get out of shelters and into new homes. they have the red car pet and they will find love in new york and on their way there, they will be the ones having cup cakes but they get the cute little red hoodies and colors so it is a good deal for them as well. they just arrived in the passenger area and it is a nice deal for all of us. i actually think based on our prior experience, the other passengers enjoy seeing them very much and they are quiet on board and we are very accommodating to make sure passengers are happy as well. >> reporter: from here, this van filled with dogs will make

it is still not clear how the fire started. they are scheduled to take a ban on outdoor patios and restaurants. the ban won approval last month and smoking advocates say it will deny smokers the same comforts and services as nonsmokers. they plan on delivering a petition for the ban. they could decide to eliminate the ranked choice voting system. today the board of supervisors will consider a june ballot that takes away the ranked choice system and replaces it with a primary election. critics say it's too confusing and they are keeping ranked choice in place and instead all city elections will be consolidated into the same year. well tonight they will

but they are warning that these balloons can get tangled up in the power lines. take a look, there are the balloons, we have a video of a mile lar balloon -- my lar balloon. incidents like this can cause serious injuries and the balloons caused 300 outages last year in northern california. they will show tony bennett, his song was recorded nearly 50 years ago. the city wants you to stop what you are doing and sing along. every radio station has also been asked to play the song at noon. 4:55 is your time.
