dozen protesters. on the south side, hundreds of people with tickets are starting to filter their way in to the venue awaiting the president's avival. it has been nothing but support here for president obama. air force one landed at san francisco international airport this afternoon. the mayer and attorney general grated the president. on nob hill a group gathered outside, one stop in a series of high dollar fundraisers that could generate $3 million for president obama's reelection campaign. >> i wish if it was the government that funded the elections and it was a set limit. >> democratic politicians are scared right now that the

two rare earthquakes shook vallejo and john fowler is live where he discovered these may be the first significant quakes on this fault in 11,000 years. >> reporter: we are that bridge and you can see this fault, the franklin fault. runs along the shoreline. towards the downtown vallejo ship yard. both earthquakes took place under this bluff. >> felt a big jolt. sounded like a truck came off the freeway. felt like the ground shook. >> i was going -- they never seen me move that last. >> reporter: she survived the 1989 quake and barely noticed these. >> last night it was nothing to

went up in flames today. a fire damaged historical kelley house in kelley park. the house once belonged to a san jose pioneer family. firefighters say smoke and flamed damaged 60% of it. part of the front of the house and the roof collapsed. the cause is under investigation. coming up, robert handa will tell us what was rescued and the chances of the building being salvaged. study found bay area residents are dumping trash into the san francisco bay. the report is considered the first comprehensive study of the volume of litter into the bay. there is enough trash to fill 100,000 kitchen barbage bags. half the litter is plastic,

governor. earlier today mitt romney took aim at president obama. >> i was shocked to see the president come out with a budget this week which once again has a trillion dollars deficit, projecting -- by the way, he said he will cut the budget in half. it doubled from where president bush had it. >> mitt romney is slipping behind rick santorum. a poll shows rick santorum is leading mitt romney 34% to 30.4%. the number of new claims for unemployment benefits hit the lowest level in four years. 348,000 people filed for first time jobless benefits. that is the smallest number since march of 2008 and the fourth drop in five weeks.

the government is taking its antidistract stracted driver campaign to a new level. they are designing dashboard technology that disable when the car is moving. in recent years high end cars have been loaded with lots of features. warning systems that alert drivers for collisions would not be effected. according to a new report, there was an 11% increase in 16 and 17 driver deaths in the first half of last year. the increase could be tied to the benefits of graduated driver licensing laws wearing off. >> the numbers are still low and good but it is alarming to see them edge up again. >> the report says there were

17 driver deaths here in california in the first six months of last year. parents are being warned that companies may be collecting private information about their children through their smartphones. mobile apps can capture a child's location, phone number and contacts. they want app developers to give parents more information about the products and they say developers should tell buyers if their apps connect to social media services. the mars candy company is slimming down snickers bars. they will stop making products that exceed 250-calories by the end of next year. the king size versions will disappear from candy shelves. mars says this is part of an effort to improve the nutritional value of their product and they plan to reduce
