oakland. police had the place surround believing a shooting suspect was hold up inside that store at 98th avenue and international boulevard. jay hernandez live and this on the same day leaders met with community groups on how to stop street violence. >> reporter: that's correct. we watched officers earlier lockdown the area and police say that the shooting happened in this street and then it was thought one of the men ran inside that it auto zone. news chopper 2 was first in the air to catch this police action onto ground. some called the police. >> my uncle telling me that there was like a lot of shots fired right now and you know everything closed down. >> reporter: police say four young men exchanged gun fire. >> several individuals ran in all different directions. >> reporter: several people in the crowd held up cell phone cameras to catch employees and customers coming out with their

of a key vote. the nasdaq dropped eight point. >> the governor of new jersey today followed through on his promise to veto a bill legalizing same sex marriage. he brought his veto act down on the measure a day after the legislature gave it's final approval. he also renewed his call for a statewide ballot measure to let new jersey voters decide. the governor said he supports civil unions and he is proposed creating an ombundsmon. the attorney general is telling leader that the administration will not defend restrictions on benefits for same sex spouses of military people under the defense of marriage act. he said the obama administration has conincluded that law is not constitutional. it requires the pentagon to ignore same sex marriages even if they were preformed in states where it's legal.
