portion of his brain and skull -- >> i was driving, and i went out the front window and landed on my head. >> after he was driving under the influence. this video has been passed all over the web sort of as a way to show people out there, this is an example of what can happen to you if you do drugs. >> it's no good. drinking and driving or drugness and driving, no good, kids. no good. >> you see him now smoking what looks like to be drugs. he's continuing the habit, but he's also saying, hey, look, kids, don't do this. because you could end up with half a head. >> how do you survive this? how does he still have motor skills and the ability to speak? >> there are other examples of, you know, similar cases as carlos'. here a guy,co laborer who fell 25 feet from a roof, and ended up looking like this and lived on. there's also a boy in china who

was known as the half-brain boy. another example you may remember, abc news war correspondent, bob woodruff suffered a huge injury to his skull from a roadside bomb. he looked like he was in pretty bad shape when it happened, but they were able to construct his head and skull to look, you know, normal. sure didn't end up looking like carlos here. >> that's a heck of a psa. to russia, and some snowy roads. you see this guy driving down the road, a couple people in the middle of the street. he swerves around him, gently, and starts to lose control. before you know it -- [ explosion ] he's in a ditch and upside down. >> whoa. >> and like, what were those people doing on the side of the road like that? were they fighting? >> i don't know if they were hitch hiking, if they were walking, if they were fighting, but that's enough to make them lose control. >> it looks like he might have slammed on the brakes there. if you do that on an icy road,

you're toast. >> people go too darn fast when there is snow on the road. i don't think he can be that mad at people on the road, because you clearly see them way up ahead. slow down a little bit and work around. [ honking ] >> and at that particular time, they weren't any cars coming in the opposite direction, so he had the whole other lane to shift over and avoid these people. >> but you can tell he was mad. you hear him honk the horn, you hear him say something angrily in russian. [ yelling in russian ] ♪ there's a whole lot of drama in this dash cam video i'm about to show you of the rescue of a girl, jessica smith, who was the subject of an amber alert. jessica was allegedly kidnapped by her mother, kimberly smith, six days before from texas. >> i got you. we're going to help you out,

okay? >> it looks like mom was definitely trying to hide. they're in the middle of nowhere. >> no wonder they got stuck. >> they were found in northern new mexico in the snow and authorities believed they hadn't had water since day two of them running. >> when was the last time you ate anything? >> about a week. >> according to court documents, this was all precipitated when the little girl said that her mom had tried to get her to lie about a molestation charge against her father. the little girl told the school counselor, this whole thing about my dad molesting me is a lie. her mom found out, was upset. family members say kimberly smith displayed a knife and said she was going to kill them both. so after that, they ran. they were gone six days when they were finally found in the snow without any food. they were basically on survival mode. >> jessica, are you okay? how has your mom been treating you? >> treating me fine. >> okay.

when is the last time you ate anything? >> oh, about a week. >> but the good news is jessica is safe and now in her grandparents' custody. recently i brought you guys this story of the guy in louisville, kentucky being tased in his grandmother's home, and there was a camera. on the taser gun. and nick, you were surprised by that. >> the video we're seeing is actually from a camera that's mounted on the taser gun itself? apparently your response to the taser camera is a very common one. we found this from our good friends at action news 9 in tampa, florida. what this is, is a camera that's mounted below the actual taser gun. as the taser is pulled from the officer's holster, the camera starts recording, and it records everything until the taser gun is put back. but take a look at some of the

[ screaming ] >> i like that, because that gives us a much clearer perspective on what actually goes down. because on occasion we'll get the trooper's dash cam video, but sometimes if someone is in the way we don't actually see what happens when someone is tased. >> this kind of equipment can be incredibly valuable in fending off allegations of use of excessive force, because you see the entire process happen, and oftentimes in graphic detail. a lot of police stations don't actually utilize this equipment, because it can be incredibly expensive. these are like $400 a piece. a lot of stations can't afford this kind of equipment. >> definitely one camera you don't want to be on. a funny prank takes a turn when one dude just isn't having it. >> i will call the columbus

england to tell us about it. tell us about this dream you have of being the first jamaican olympic diver. >> i've been training, and i've always wanted to be at the olympics. there have always been diver, and i thought why not try out for jamaica? >> how many hours a day are you practicing and training? >> i do two hours a day. sometimes i do four. but that's dependent on how much school i have that day. and during the holidays, i train twice a day, up to five hours. >> tell us about the sponsorships that you need and how much money are we talking about? >> i'm looking for around $10,000, maybe. any kind of sponsorship would help. >> tell us about the most complicated dive you did in this video. >> it goes going into a somersault, rocketing into a twist. >> has this video gotten you sponsorship so far? >> not yet. it was only released last week. my coach is trying to bring it through and look for sponsors. >> what kind of accomplishment would this be for you if you

what do you do with that sliver of soap in your shower once it's gotten to be so thin you really can't use it because it's slipping everywhere? it's falling. >> let it go down the drain. >> i smoosh it until it goes all the way in. >> wait, what? eric novine came up with a very creative way to save the world from the soap sliver. he created a kick-starter project called stack. >> this is a bar of stack soap. put a special groove right here in the bar of sack soap. it fits the shape of that sliver. so when you get done with this bar, you just stick it into the next bar. and they become one. as you wear them down, they get smaller and smaller until they turn into the next sliver. at that point, you just put it into the next bar. >> you bring out the new bar of soap and put the sliver in the kbroof groove of the new soap and keep going. >> i mitwill miss the days wher
