. well, good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2". i'm dave clark. >> i'm tara moriarty. it's tuesday, february 21st. one firefighter is being treated for heat exhaustion after an early-morning fire in castro valley. tara moriarty is live with more and it appears the fire seems to be tied to anmal -- animals in the garage. >> reporter: this device was used to keep a pair of african tortoises warm. it appears that device malfunctioned. the call came in just after 3:00 this morning off almond road. flames shot through a nearby

bale of hey. the animals -- of hay. the animals escaped unharmed. >> it's a horrible thought. i'm just glad they had the turtle brain to move. >> reporter: one firefighter suffered overheating and exhaustion. he was transer inned to the -- he was transferred to the hospital. that firefighter is expected to be okay. no one else was injured in the fire. six crews responded and were able to knock out the flames within a couple of minutes. crews estimate the damages will will tal -- will tally about

$50,000. back to you. >> thank you, tara. police are looking for a domestic violence suspect who slashed his own hurt. this is him. he's 5'8" with short, black hair. investigators say he probably has bandages around his neck after cutting his throat with a knife after allegedly attacking his girlfriend. police arrested him immediately after the incident. he was supposed to be released in police custody after a psychiatric evaluation but he was inadvertently set free. a livermore man is facing burglary charges after his second arrest in three days. police arrested 18-year-old dallas miller yesterday morning. police tell "the contra costa times" that he was burglar rising a home -- burglarizing a home and stole property. police broke up a rally party at his home that left an

officer with a broken leg. well, the animals at the san francisco zoo had an early- morning call. they had an earthquake. it was a .2 magnitude quake, centered about four miles from the san francisco zoo out in the pacific ocean. the usgs says it was about 5.5 miles deep. there's no word yet of any damage or injuries. well, almost a year after floodwaters devastated parts of capitola, there are still lawsuits. a drainage pipe ruptured in heavy rains and that flooded homes and businesses. the lawsuits are claiming the city failed to properly take care of the underground pipes. one homeowner is suing for $130,000 damage. it is 7:04. it's getting more expensive to drive here in the bay area. gas prices are hovering above

investigation. it happened just before 11:00 last night at the homeless camp underneath the bridge in concord. firefighters quickly responded and put out the flames. no one was injured. we have a heads up if you are heading to sfo. oh, boy, the airport is reporting one-hour delays for incoming flights because of this, the fog. the duty manager told ktvu the delays are expected to last between 8:00 a.m. and noontime. that will mean a domino effect on departures. check with your airline. call ahead if you will have any dedays taking off or if you are -- delays taking off or if you are picking up someone. >> yes. let's see what's happening on the roads, the first day back from the long weekend. >> yeah. and we have problems out there. highway 4 is busy. there was a crash.

this morning and let you know if it does reach 13,000. investors are keeping a close eye on europe this morning now that greece may have avoided a huge crisis. earlier this morning, finance ministers reach an agreement to give greece more money. they will be loaned another $170 billion. greece reached a separate agreement with private investors. the deal comes just weeks before grease could have gone bankrupt. russia may be shifting its position on syria. earlier this month, russia and china revetod a resolution that called on syria to stop the bloody crackdown against anti- government protesters. but russia should send a special envoy to help out with assistance. thousands of syrians have been waiting in long lines just to get some bread and other food. president obama spoke to afghan president hamid karzai

freak killers convicted murderer wesley shermantine has revealed the location of another well that he says could contain the remains of another -- he says could contain the remains of another a well. this is near the town of lyndon. aparently this well is somewhere in the vicinity of that tower that you see in the distance there. in the past week and a half, one well has been exvacated on this same property. that dig recovered more than 1,000 bone pregnants and other human remains that have yet to be identified. the excavation is now over but the search for more victims continues. this is an rial -- aerial view where the second, third and now fourth well is located. shermantine and her done are
