. police searching an oakland neighborhood this morning. who officers are looking for -- coming up. an early-morning fire in berkeley. crews race to a very confusing scene that caused some concern. there's still about 100 people in san francisco without power, but we'll tell you how this power outage could affect thousands of people's commute. and the bold crimes that have bay area toll-takers on alert. police have closed off 45th street and telegraph avenue because they are looking for a gunman who opened fire one hour ago. our reporter is live at the scene and he will be joining us shortly with more information on this and let us know what police are having to say about this situation. meanwhile, in overnight news, it's been a busy. firefighters arrived on the scene of a fire and they saw a plane sticking out of a roof. turns out, it was just a piece of art. >> we were totally asleep. somebody rang the bell and we could look out the window and

see the flames. i ran outside and turned on the garden hose. >> an investigation is now underway into the cause of the fire. art supplies and some flammable liquids stored in a locker made it difficult for crews to battle the fire. two firefighters were treated and released for minor injuries. and in oakland, the red cross is helping four people find a new place to stay following an early-morning apartment fire. firefighters were called to 37th street around 4:00 a.m. a battalion chief tells ktvu a resident tipped over an oil lamp while making a snack. oil spread and the curtains caught fire. the resident tried to put the flames out. two men forced their way into a home on paradise drive

hanging. you can see it hanging off the cross beam. pg&e says they've secured that line. that repair crew is on the way. repairs are expected to take all day. when we arrived, the pole was still on fire. the transformer failure left 2400 customers without power. now pg&e have restored power to all about 130 customers. they restore power to be fully restored by 8:30. >> we don't -- we stay away from the wires and the utilities gets shut down. if anybody iswalking around, the wires could fall down. >> reporter: you can see that

san francisco police and the department of park and traffic are diverting traffic in this area. we have learned in just the last half-hour that san francisco police officers anticipate being outseer all day at this scene to divert power. and they are anticipating it will take pg&e all day to come out hire and restore power and also repair that utility pole. so again, a lot of activity out here. if your commute takes you in this area on dubose between mission and valencia, you will need to find a new way to get to and from work. we're live in san francisco, back to you. >> thank you. we want to did back to developing news in oakland. police have closed off the area around 45th and tele-- telegraph. if he are looking for a gunman. here's more from alex. >> reporter: this is reports that gunfire that came -- that

-- that came in early this morning. 45th street andle it le graph is the location. here's video from chopper 2 of what this scene looked like a short time ago. officers had their guns drawn. we saw many of them walking up and down the streets. we also saw several restaurants closed. police say they had reports about gunshots in this neighborhood early this morning. police can't tell us if there was a victim or anyone they found. we are waiting at this point to try to speak with the police lieutenant and figure out who police are looking for, why any are looking for this person and why -- and why they found him here. there were a number of police officers on 45th street. those officers have left. we don't know if that means the search has shifted to another

. good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. it's wednesday, it's february 22nd. topping our news for you at this hour, a developing story still working out in oakland. police say a domestic disturbance erupted into a shooting in the area around 45th and telegraph avenue.

now, alex has been out there,out side of a home there. what are you seeing and what happened out there? >> reporter: well, dave, i can tell you we've learned a whole lot more recently about what prompted that search for the shooter that l.a.d a couple of hours in this neighborhood this morning. an oak police department says this all started -- started as a lover's quarrel. that's where a woman pull a gun and opened fire on her boyfriend. he was not hit by fire. this all happened near 44th street and telegraph. officers were in the area. they heard the gubts an raced to the hoys. they got there, basically looking or for a community -- looking for a shooter. the girl, inside the house. we're told she gave up peacefully. >> she ended up coming out late
