the president is making a special trip to the silicone valley, ktvu channel 2 morning news continues. i am dave clark, we are beginning with developing news, topping our news at 6:00, it happened just 30 minutes ago, we had an earthquake, it measured 4.0 and rattled the east bay. this one rattled at 5:33 and it was centered in richmond. we are getting dozens of calls, people all over the bay area felt this one. at this point we have not heard of any damage or injuries and bart by the way has stopped its trains as a precaution and that's a standard procedure. allie rasmus is heading to the el cerrito area and she will have a live report later in

paul chambers joins us with their plans to make us heard, paul? >> reporter: just as you said, you can see there is a line and there is actually two buses and they expect them to be holding a brief rally in san jose and they will be boarding buses to the state capital. these students will be joining up with thousands of other bay area students and staff including people who began a four day walk last thursday. once they get there, they say they want their voices to be heard. they say it is so that the government will put an end to slashing the education budget while increasing tuition costs. >> the facts that it cost an upwards of $30 a unit right now makes it incredibly difficult to pay for school and that does not include books or what it

costs to get to school. >> reporter: they would like state officials offset the costs and they want the millionaires taxes to be raised. as you can see they are about to board the buses and head to sacramento and we will bring you the very latest as it develops. we will bring it to you coming up in our 6:30 hour. paul chambers ktvu channel 2 morning news. an early morning crash, this one happened at broadway and 21st street. a vanful over. she lost control as another car swerve into her lane. they are looking for witnesses

who could possibly pack up her story. dozens of kiers were slashinged early in the morning. they got the first call near el comino, and they found at least 50 cars with one punctured tire. they hit between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. sunday morning. this is in palo alto. police are asking anyone if you saw anything suspicious call the police and they also say they have no new reports of re sshes overnight. they are trying to find out if two weekend shootings are connected. the first happened friday night. now the second shooting happened early yesterday morning at 7th street near at

occurred 5.5 miles below the service and the initial location seems to place it on the hayward fault and it is on the fault right around for people in el cerrito. looking at -- sort of the hiss trion this part of the hayward falls this would be the north end of the 2-mile long stretch. they have produced a fair number which was a mag student 4.5 and a malmagnitude 3.9 in 1998 so in many ways this is not unusual but it is the hayward fault and that's a prime concern in the bay area. we will be watching it

they are now headed to the state capital. now these students will be joining up with other thousands of bay area staff including people who began a four day walk to the capital last thursday. once we get there how its claim they should be heard. by continuing tuition costs. this is tough for students who depend on community colleges. that is something the community college should allow them to do. it is an investment in the state and i think it is something that is being overlooked. >> reporter: now the facebook page said they would like officials to offset the costs which is currently passed on to students and they want it to be passed and put on the ballot.

it kicks off this morning and lieutenant governor is expected to be one of the speakers and we will head to them and we will also bring that to you live, ktvu channel 2 morning news. in overnight news, a high- speed chase ended with oncoming traffic. the suspects carjacked the suv 2:00 a.m. this morning. officers chased them on interstate 880 then the car headed north in the southbound lanes. suspects hopped out of the car and made a run for it but officers caught up with them and found a bag pack stolen. they will call for an audit of san jose's finances.

it centers around their pension debt and they accused council reid of inflating the number of that -- accused chuck reid of inflating the number of that debt. they are voting whether to approve referendum j-allowing them to build a stadium. they say they never told them to take out $850 million in loans and they say they should not have to vote on an issue they already approved. they hope to reopen that stadium. bryan stow has left santa clara medical center. let me tell you about the move and some of the complication cakes he is now experiencing because of it. >> our commute has been affected and we had an earthquake this morning, what do you know tara?

could be very light rain and there will be snow in the sierra, it is not a big snow producer and there will be a lot of wind so tomorrow colder breezy windy upper 50s, light rain and more cold wind than anything else. not bad but a little bit around the bay, temperatures will be 50s and 60s coast and bay. we will have a few low 70s just for another day. we will rebound with temperatures and it looks like clouds increase on sunday, pam, dave? major cleanup efforts are starting across the midwest, the heartland of the country devastated by last week's tornadoes. some twisters packed a wallop of 200 miles per hour.

story, one man lost his life but we have a school completely demolished, homes and businesses are completely demolished but they are thankful only one person from henryville was lost. >> tell us about the young girl named angel, they found her alone in a field after the tornado? >> reporter: that's right, we have been following her story, it had been a glimmerrer of hope, a tragic story we have been hearing, she was found in a field near the mobile home park, the rest of her family was killed and she survived and she was in intensive care all weekend but her family made the decision to take her off of life support and she is no longer with us. >> chris welsh, thank you for the update in henryville. thank you, chris, we have much more about the deadly tornadoes

. well, good morning to you welcome back, it happened more than an hour ago, we had an earthquake this morning measuring 4.0 this one hit at 5:33 it was centered near el cerrito and richmond. we have been getting floods of calls because people felt it all over the bay area. vandals slashed the tires of more than 50 cars. police found at least 51 cars with at least one punctured

tire and this is the neighborhood of el comino royal. they are calling on state lawmakers to restore funding for higher education. organizers are expecting more than 10,000 people at the rally. it is the first time an incumbent israeli president has paid a visit to this area. alex savage joins us to tell us what is on the president's schedule today. perez is spending the day here, part of the purpose is to push for tech start up and he will be taking a tour and as you can imagine there will be extra security on hand here. perez will hear about neurocomputing and artificial intelligence and the president will drop by other silicone
