"the chronicle" reports the neighbor who called police to report the alleged domestic violence incident against mirkarimi first called bronstein to tell him what had happened. tonight, city leaders in redwood city will discuss a geese hazing campaign. the rules could be revised to allow redwood shores property owners to disturb or remove nests that don't contain but property owners will be required to registered with fish and wildlife officials. cleaning up has been a problem.

what's going on? >> reporter: well, all of the students, not only from san jose, but all over california are coming to march. these guys are from the l.a. area. spe sent -- they spent six, eight hours on the bus to get here. right now they are just kind of trickling in from all over the state. we expect it to get a lot heavier as the morning goes on. at about 10:00, they are supposed to march from this mark to the capitol which is about a half-mile away. a lot of street closures and police presence as well. once any get to the capitol, they expect a crowd of about 10,000 students from not only colleges and universities. but also anyone who supports those. then they are meeting with lawmakers to try to get those lawmakers to try to stop budget cuts to higher education. back to you. >> all right, richard. thank you. tomorrow, uc davis will release the report of its

we met up with paul brown who is on the mira vista country club there. you live in this neighborhood. what did it feel like? >> quite a shock. there were two different shocks. a very minor shock and then a much stronger tote jolt -- stronger jolt that woke everybody around here. i thought i would come up to the club and see if there was any damage. >> reporter: was there any damage? >> i couldn't tell if there was any damage from the interior. but from the exterior it looked fine. did it take you -- wake you up? were you sleeping when it happened? >> yes. it woke both of us up. earthquakes are -- are not totally -- are not a totally unusual occurrence. what was your reaction? >> it just -- is this gonna be a big earthquake than the earthquake spart felt? it was just a little scary.

7:16. in russia there will be a huge demonstration tonight protesting what opponents call election fraud and vladimir putin's victory. putin claimed victory in the square right outside the kremlin. look at these pictures. the results show he won about 65% of the vote. this will be his third term. in between time he served as russia's prime minister. independent observers report there were thousands of complaints of election fraud. putin is due to be swoern in as russia's president in may. 7:17. new this morning, deadly fighting in yemen has claimed more than a dozen lives. after taking those troops into custody, al qaeda militants paraded them through the streets of the small town in

yemen. in syria. rebels there say they received no help or weapons at all from any country not even their arab neighbors. saudi arabia in particular has supported arming the rebels but apparently there are concerns about weapons getting into the wrong hands. that's stopped the u.s. and other countries from giving weapons to the rebels as well. 7:17. attorney general eric holder is expected to make a major speech at northwestern university where he will outline why it's legal for the u.s. to kill its own citizens. today's speech comes five months after a drone attack killed u.s.-born al qaeda leader al alaki at this hour, a wrongful

death shooting lawsuit is about to get underway. this was at virginia tech. the gunman killed himself. jury selection is expected to start. the parents of two victims say some of the victims would not have been killed if the school had alerted people there were shootings. police in danville and san ramon are responding between 5 and 15 reports of i.d. left in any given weck. a lot of those reports include credit card fraud. they say part of the increase may be because of the penal code to include a wider range of crimes and if the punishment for these crimes tend to be relatively light. well, u.s. senator charles schumer is calling for an

investigation of both apple and google over possible privacy issues. senator schumer wants the federal trade commission to look into reports of about applications used on smartphones made by the two companies that access the private information of users. senator schumer says the makers of the smartphones should be required to put safety measures in place to make sure third- party apps are not able to steal valuable information from users. well, a man in france claims google violated his prily is a -- violated his privacy a lot. now, his face was blurred out. but he could be soon ury urinating in his front yard. he says people recognized him and have been teasing him ever

since. he's now suing. a court hearing for 49-year- old carlos guzman-garza is set for this morning. he's accused of illegally performing medical procedures. prosecutors say one woman needed corrective surgery after getting liposuction from the suspect. he's also accused of treating the woman's doctor for acne using injections. a trial gets underway for a woman, giselle estebon, who is accused of killing michelle le because she claims le for ruining her relationship with her boyfriend. a trial is scheduled to is -- a trial is scheduled to begin next week. a man arrested on child sex abuse charges may have more

el cerrito. allie rasmus is live right near the epicenter. so, allie what, are people -- so allie, what are people saying? >> reporter: this earthquake was in el cerrito at the mira vista country club where we are right now. the quake hit about five and a half miles below the ground we're standing on. how do they know that? well, the country has a usgs sensor located right on their property. the country club sits on the fault. the superintendent of the golf course took us -- it doesn't look like much but you can see the beeping lights there and they send back the information. now, the super and several others were in the middle of a

meeting when the earthquake hit. >> it was just a small quake and it stop for a second and then an even stronger one after that. >> what was your reaction? >> reaction was making sure everything was okay. a couple of the guys ran out and thought it was bigger than that. we just redid our facility and it felt up pretty good. >> the country club has a golf course shop. there was no damage to the piping or irrigation in this area. mira vista -- we've had a chance to talk to people who live in the homes, so far, a very informal survey. that's a about ten people or so who say they live in tharyia, experienced things falling off shelves and picture frames and jolts. there were two aftershocks after that. but a lot of the people said they were up and around, busy,

and for many years they've had a usgs sensor right on their property. now, we were showed the sensor. it's in this box and it reaches down in the ground. those sensors record any shaking or movement in the earth and send the info to the usgs wirelessly. we're learning there was two back-to-back quakes. the first one was a smaller jolt at 2.9. the second one, 4.0. the two-part earthquake is exactly what mean people heard. >> it was all sound at first. you could tell somebody was gonna -- something was gonna happen and it just reverberated up, pause for a minute and then it started moving. >> i felt the earthquake and i felt different from the -- from the two in october. it sort of felt like the
