we have more rain to talk about. >> >> we have seen a fairly steady rain and that has led to a steady stream of weather related accidents. it was a busy day for emergency response agencies in the mountains, the california highway patrol said a speeding driver tried to make the turn on highway one and instead crashed in to several heavy road signs but escaped serious injury. it was one of several weather related incidents mostly solo vehicle spin outs. >> as you with driving in the wet weather remember not to hit your brake when is you go around the curve as it does -- your tires to loose traction. >> its been a long time since the last rain. a lot of oil is down on the road, makes slick conditions. just adds up. >> reporter: people we talked to are trying to make the

adjustment and say it's a small price to pay for rain. >> excited. we need the -- the rain for fire protection and fill up wells. that's really -- i have been looking forward to it. >> reporter: as bill martin said the people can expect to see rain for a while and unlike other areas pg&e said the wind here has caused very little damage. there was only one small outage. live in the santa cruz mountains. >> slick roads being linked to a crash in concord. a driver was killed when he veered off the on-ramp. the van crashed in to a parking lot at the willow shopping center. the ramp what closed for two hours as investigators looked at the crash site. crews working to make repairs after a big rig jack knifed destroyed part of a safety barrier. the chp said the truck started leaking fuel that flowed in to a drain that feeds in to the

lake. the investigation has showed traffic even more with the intersection with 980 and that's on top of the impact with the weather. no injuries were reported. >> marin county said the weather contributed to a hiker getting lost. authorities say the visibility was less than 100 feet as the storm closed in and it became dark. the hiker was unable to find the rescue team. crews keeping close watch on about 20 locations that are prone to flooding. sanitary -- might spend five and a half million gallons of water to treatment plants on rainy days, they say that number can would go to 40 or 50 million-gallons. >> this storm is bringing significant snow to the area and ken is live in blue canyon

where today's inches are about to turn into feet of new snow. >> reporter: that is right. just about a half hour ago we had big flakes of snow. the flakes aren't as wig now but you can see them coming down. take a look at video we shot earlier today. even with that the crash was several. here are two cars if you can see them, a jeep and suv, that lost control and hit a third suv unable to stop and it too joined in that collision. nobody was hurt but all three suffered significant damage. the chp blamed speed and said there were dozens of similar spin outs. snow made for dangerous driving but it's much needed after a dry december, january and february, some locals are hoping that we will see a

reminding passengers. david stevenson, ktvu channel 2news. >> richmond police say they are looking for a driver who shot and injured an 8-year-old boy in a case of road rage. it happened about 10:30 last night. investigators say the driver of an older model black crown victoria fired several several rounds. the victim's father may have cut off the gunman while driving on interstate 880. police in san pablo say they arrested two people in connection with a deadly shooting over night. investigators say the victim was shot at about two this morning on the sidewalk. officers nearby saw two people alive running then arrested them. their it names haven't been released. >> a new warning about toxic chemicals found at several stores, a study found the chemicals in jewelry in

multiple stores. more than half showed high levels of chemicals linked to serious disease. the risk is especially high for young kids who are exposed to the chemicals. there. are no simple solutions when it comes to drinking water contamination. that's according to a new report released today. the davis study indicates more than a million people live in those areas. researchers say even if farmers can stop them from fertilizers and manure from getting in to the ground water it'll take years for the pollution to dissipate. >> increased natural gas will help chevron grow. they said they expect the natural gas project underway in australia to support significant cash flow. they say they have no plans to

it'll impact the drive. the coastal hills are -- lined up. one to three inches today. tomorrow wednesday, one to three inches even gas the wind and most air moves up the coast. santa cruz they go up a couple you this feet. look for more rainfall events along the coast. a day tomorrow, a lot like today and in the mountains a win thank you storm warningo overnight into tomorrow. snow levels at 5,000 feet. though will come down on the weekend. could come down around 3,000 feet. the model sets up on the 10:00 news. mainly in the north bay. light showers for everybody else. tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m., it looks like a wet start to the morning. we will be in -- they start at 4:30 and will be tracking the roadways, that morning looks like another wet one. it looks like what you can do.
