few minutes. >> one thing today's storm doesn't have. let's go to ktvu's robert handa. >> reporter: it has been a steady and heavy rain here in the sagal mohamod mountains and -- in the santa cruz mountains. after 36 hoursf rain, trouble is mting. >> reporter: the rain picked up strength in the santa cruz mountains over night. that led to standing water and run off on the sloping roads. the california highway patrol said the condition lead to a fatal crash this morning. a 21-year-old man died after crashing into a tree. emergency agencies say winding roads are dangerous during the first days of a storm. >> you got all the oil and gas, and more slippery, they can hydroplane more easily if tires aren't in good conditions. people should just slow down. the area is getting a

authorities believe the robber in this surveillance video from san bernardino county robbed a bank of the west on monday. he shot and injured a police officer in the southern california robbery. they say he may be responsible for a bank robbery in sacramento and authorities consider him dangerous. a man accused of threatening police was arrested last night after being wounded by police gunfire. the officers say they came across a man before 9:00 during a suspect search. police say the man who they suspected had a gun took off running. they caught him.

interesting weather pattern. we are getting plenty of water and doing okay with snow. the systems are developing off shore and this continues to rotate in. the pattern is favorable for more rainfall into the bay area weekend. as we go into the weekend, it comes from the north. snow levels calm down and rainfall accumulations will become less. the coastal hills have a tendency to take the moisture, lift it up, it cools, condenses and more rain drops out. the santa cruz mountains it 8 inches of rain. 15 miles across to san jose, 10 10th of an inch of rain. all the rain is depleted on the west side. that is up north, monterra as well. continued lifting and very wet sections long the coast.
