struggle inside of the vehicle. we know that a gun was discharged and there is blood inside the car. we are fearing for the worst. . >> reporter: the car has a washington license plate number. police think that able may have harmed his mother before shooting killing his 11-year- old sister and then turned the gun on himself. martha was last seen tuesday night. she never showed up for work where she worked for the last 20 years. >> everybody is -- really hit hard and this is a pretty big impact to an employee that worked for us for a long time. she had a lot of good friends, she was a hard worker. >> reporter: her son moved in with her after serving for the army national guard. he served in the iraq war and had ptsd. on february 29th police were called to their apartment because able wasn't acting like himself. when the officer as lived they determined guiterrez wasn't a threat. >> the family said they did not fear for their lives or

. the city of berkeley has as the resulted a formal investigation into its police chief and his decision to send armed officers to the home of a reporter. the chief is under fire for ordering the sergeant it go to the report ear home in the middle of the night and ask for changes to a story about the police response in the case of a man who was killed by a trespasser. the city has hired a law firm. the police union demanded the investigation. >> a judge in oakland ruled that parts of a longa waited report on a pepper spraying

when police and alameda sheriff's faced off against demonstrators. at least five protesters are facing charges including obstructing a police officer and blocking the sidewalk. the protesters say the case is a political wityh hunt and have deplannedded the charges be dropped. >> the only violence there was done by the police against protesters, who were just standing up for their rights and i think for example the professor today on trial was yanked around by her hair, thrown to the ground. >> reporter: the remaining protesters are scheduled to be arraigned next week. >> a tense standoff in san jose, we show youd you live is over but a carjacking suspect is still on the loose. it started when a man stole an suv. a brief chase reached speeds up to 100 miles an hour before police backed off. they later traced the suspect to an empty home.
