we've been here since 5:00 this morning. it's been windy nonstop. in the last half hour, we felt the temperature drop and looking outside, we seen the wave come closer to us. that's because high tide is about an hour and a half from now. you can see a pretty rainbow. it means there's probably more rain and precipitation heading our way to the coast in the next couple hours or so. you can see it, you can hear it how windy it is. looking at the pacifica pier, we watched wave after wave crash into the pier. every once in a while we get a really large wave slushing over the top of it. there's a high-surf advisory in effect. called by the national weather service at 9:00, it stays in effect until 3:00 in the afternoon. we talked to a few people who

have been out here this morning walking their dogs, some of them said they noticed the waves out here yesterday. >> yesterday i didn't see any surfers out since the first time in a long time. i was glad to see they weren't out because it's pretty dangerous. >> reporter: and here comes that rain that we were mentioning. now it's raining here. the national weather service says it could get as high as 17 feet waves. wind is an issue for drivers. they called a high-wind advisory on the bridges. be safe, drive cautiously on the roads. the coroner is trying to identify a man whose body washed ashore the marina.

problems with blowing sand. also drivers in the bay area are going to be aware of the windy conditions. a high-wind advisory in effect for the bay bridge. crews are working on the board walk. the river ripped a part a wooden staircase to the beach but there hasn't been reports of damage. workers used sandbags to reroute the river towards the sea. police have been out in several cities this weekend making sure that st. patrick's day drivers were sober behind the wheel. the check points set up in cities including berkeley and san francisco to discourage drunk driving. in redwood city, police transformed a quiet street into a check point.

>> people can't be sure where we will be. they have to question where they encounter us. >> this is one of four check points set up. if you're drinking, you must have a designated driver. police searching for a suspicious man that tried to get a young girl into his car twice. the man drove up to a 13-year- old girl on wednesday and asked her if she needed a ride. the girl ran off. when he continued to ask questions. the next day, the girl saw the same man waving at her when she was leaving school. the man is white, in his 60s and has short gray hair and a possible accent. he he was driving a faded resedan. >> the search continues near morgan hill for a missing teenage girl. she was last seen thursday

morning but never made it to class. deputies have been using a helicopter and search dogs to try to find her. the family members have been posting flyers hoping someone will come forward. they say she had no trouble or history of running away. her family says he's cell phone is not at home and all calls go to her message. a few dozen gathered outside of an apartment of martha gutierrez in wet and windy conditions and covered land to search for her. nothing was found. >> it's raining and it's cold and they don't feel the rain or the pain, just feel the heart. because they are helping to

look for her. p. investigators believe that her 27-year-old son injured or killed her. last week abel gutierrez shot and killed his 11-year-old sister before committing suicide. he was treated for post- traumatic stress disorder after returning home from the military overseas. a pilot's body found inside a plane that crashed on its way to san jose last week. the wreckage found where the pilot's device stopped broadcasting on wednesday. the pilot was flying the single engine plane from arizona. he planned to divert because of bad weather but never made it
