the neighborhoods down a good 10 to 12 degrees from yesterday at this time. sanity jose -- san jose 42 and livermore 45. on the satellite and radar you can see a few high clouds but not a lot of streams just yet. that will be changing though as we head into the late evening hours. this morning though we're dry, don't have to worry about raindrops, just some patchy fog especially around the oakland airport. then notice what happens in the afternoon hours. the forecast model generates some more cloud cover. by late tonight into early tomorrow morning there's that rain band that, that initial rain band pushing on shore, that will wake you up first thing tomorrow morning. 8:00, upper 30s to upper 40s. by 12:00, expect partly cloudy skies, 53 to 58 degrees. then by 4:00 a few high clouds, 57 to around 63. these numbers about the same as yesterday, maybe just a touch warmer. san francisco 57. san jose tops out 63. gilroy 64. a look at the five-day

forecast with the weekend always in view. off and on rain especially for saturday morning. once again for saturday night. could have rain first thing sunday morning. decreasing to showers by sunday afternoon. clouds and sprinkles on monday. then we could be tracking another storm for next week by tuesday. sal has an update on traffic. >> good morning. happy friday. traffic moving pretty well as we see on the traffic pictures. highway 4 starting off, looks pretty good coming to the willow pass grade. the morning commute moving nicely on westbound 24 getting up tocal decot and other other side in oakland. 80 westbound coming down to the mcarthur maze, the traffic here off to a nice start. a nice dry commute. police are investigating an overnight crash near san francisco state university. tara moriarty is right near the 280 on-ramp to give us more. tara? >> reporter: that's right.

this is a major injury accident. as you can evidence by the treadmarks in the roadway. they extend for quite some distance. they are coming out to measure it. you can see where the car slammed into a tree and is crumpled in the distance, a large amount of debris in the roadway. if we look at the video we can show you that there were three people who were transported to the hospital earlier this morning here off of brotherhood way and thomas moore way. it happened shortly before 3:00 this morning. when, again, that car crashed into the tree. we're not sure if they were speeding, if they lost control or any of the details because there's an investigation team here and they've been standing around. i think they are waiting until it gets a little lighter. er in -- and they are examining the evidence. there's so much stuff in the roadway now. we don't know the extent of the injuries of the three people involved but typically in a crash like this there's major trauma and those folks would go

to the hospital. we're not sure who the driver is but again this roadway has been shut down for two hours. most likely at least two hours i'm being told. we're on the back side of lake merced and this is the route a lot of people get to get to 19th avenue and 280 southbound for the morning commute. this is going to be tied up for quite some time. i would advise actually cutting behind the mall in order to get to 19th avenue or you can also head up lake merced boulevard and cut over to john daly and get to 280 that way. those areas are typically very crowded so you'll see traffic definitely impacted this morning. live in san francisco, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. more searches are planned today for morgan hill teen sierra lamar who disappeared a week ago today. the fbi is now helping after a new clue was discovered near her home.

ktvu'ss ali just spoke with the sheriff. >> reporter: she shared new information on this case. first, i want to set the scene. this is the cul-de-sac where sierra and her family live. this is where she was last seen a week ago today. when we pulled up we were surprised to see all these cars and bright lights set up here in the driveway of her home so early in the morning. we soon realized the national media was here, the case of the missing 15-year-old is gaining national attention. in the driveway of the home there you see santa clara county sheriff lori smith who is about to be interviewed. we spoke with her earlier this morning. yesterday she told us that federal agents joined in the search. thefish came to this neighborhood, they went through -- the fbi came to this neighborhood, they went through the homes in this somewhat rural area looking for more evidence and clues in the disappearance of this 15-year-old. santa clara county sheriff smith says even though it's still a missing persons case they are concerned about some new information they gathered about some of the evidence in

this case. particularly, a bag of sierra's that was found earlier this week. >> yesterday we released to the media we had found her bag that she normally takes to school. books and there was clothing in it. based on her last tweet, what she was wearing and we can only see part of what she is wearing, it appears that she was wearing a top that was in that bag. >> reporter: sheriff smith says investigators know what sierra was wearing that morning because she took a picture of herself and tweeted it the morning she disappeared. that shirt appears to be the same shirt that was found folded up neatly in her bag that investigators recovered earlier this week. the shirt appears to be what they think is a san jose sharks jersey. now we have a little more information about what exactly sierra lamar may have been wearing the morning she disappeared. one more clue to go on. in the meantime, in the next live report we'll have more on what the sheriff has to say

about continuing efforts to find her. live in morgan hill had, allie rass, ktvu news. the search ended sadly for another family looking for a missing gilroy mother. the body of 50-year-old martha gutierrez has been found. coming up at 4:45, where searchers made the discovery and what police are saying about how she may have died. the contra costa district attorney's office is doing the investigation into a deadly miss shooting in antioch. officers were looking for suspects in other crimes when they spotted a fugitive yesterday near hillcrest and east 13th street. a teenaged witness whose face we will not show tells us that the gun battle began after police chased the suspect's blue car. >> they say put your hands up. and then you hear four or five shots. >> he fired the shots at police? >> yes. they went to the back of his car and just boom, boom, boom. and shot him. >> the suspect, a 26-year-old

wanted parolee was shot and killed. police also arrested a 25-year-old female passenger who was not hurt in that incident. fairfield police released a photo of a car linked to a shooting outside of a popular children's restaurant. that happened at about 2:45 yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of the chuck e. cheese on oliver road. investigators believe the victim, a 23-year-old reading man went there to buy marijuana. after he was shot he was able to make it to a nearby gas station for help. he's listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest. the two attackers drove off in the victim's car. it's a 1990s white chevy camaro with a black roof, the surveillance photo there was taken moments after the shooting. 4:37. this morning, occupy oakland protesters cleared out. a dozen people brought masts and makeshift -- mats and

makeshift tents. the group marking the sixth month of its exist tense. it's unclear if demonstrators will return to the park later today. the oakland mayor says police will enforce the no camping rule there. there's an effort to get a free college tuition measure on the june ballot. the initiative started as a senior class project at the life academy and oakland unity high school. supporters need nearly 808,000 petition signatures. if voters approve and it makes it to the ballot it would provide four years of free state college tuition for full time students who are california residents and who either maintain a 2.7 grade point average or perform 70 hours of community service each year. californians who earn more than $250,000 a year would pay higher income taxes to support that program.

alert for drivers about another major bridge closure in the near future. this time the dunbarton bridge . it will be shut down over the entire memorial day weekend to allow crews to work on the seismic retrofit project. drivers at that time will be advised to take public transit or alternate routes. speaking of alternate routes, i think that will put more cars on the bay bridge on memorial day weekend, sal. >> i think it will, pam. it's not going to be as big of a closure as it would have been for the bay bridge because that's by far the busiest bridge in the bay area but it will have an effect. of course we're all over it. right? right. let's go out and take a look at i-80 north and southbound, this traffic is doing well, if you're driving northbound it looks nice all the way up to the coliseum and beyond. southbound looks good to hayward. the morning commute also looks pretty good at the bay bridge.

good friday morning, 4:44. it's chilly this morning, 30s and 40s this afternoon. we're going to max out in the upper 50s to low 60s with increasing high clouds. more on the weekend storm in a few minutes. the u.s. army sergeant accused of killing afghan villagers will be formally charged today. staff sergeant robert bales will be charged with 17 counts of murder for the killing of eight afghan adults and nine children. originally the number of villagers killed was reported to be 16 but military authorities change that to 17 yesterday. we're now learning that bales was accused in an incident involving alcohol and violence in washington state back in 2008. but prosecutors did not file charges in that case. an autopsy scheduled today

now that the body of a missing gilroy mother has been discovered. neighbors held a vigil last night for 50-year-old martha gutierrez. police say her body was found yesterday morning under a bush off highway 156 near the 152 interchange in san benito county. police say it appears she died from a gunshot wound. last wednesday police say her iraq war veteran son shot and killed his 11-year-old sister, then himself in the family apartment. >> she should have got help. i mean, cops been over there more than one time. neighbors sent the cops, they were there for 10 to 15 minutes, then they would leave. he was trained to act around them. >> but police say they coordinated services with veterans affairs to try to get the son help. meantime funeral arrangements are pending. defense attorneys in a murder case in san francisco are challenging testimony from a key witness. 25-year-old edwin ramos is

charged with shooting and killing tony bologna and his two sons in 2008. the only son who survived testified in january that ramos was the gunman. yesterday a psychologist testified that in some cases stressful situations can result in a madeup memory. ramos claims he was only the getaway driver, not the shooter. coming up on 4:47. suspended san francisco sheriff attended orientation for his court ordered domestic violence classes and met with his probation officer yesterday. mirkarimi was suspended after being convicted following a new year's altercation with his wife. he must complete several domestic violence sessions before a court will consider lifting a stay-away order that blocks him from seeing his wife. a growing call for the arrest of a florida man who

gunned down an unarmed black teen last month. thousands of demonstrators rallied yesterday in the orlando suburb where the deadly shooting happened. neighborhood watch volunteer workgeorge zimmerman claimed he acted in service defense. and al sharpton says - >> you cannot defend yourself over skittles and iced tea. don't talk to us like we stupid! don't talk to us like we is ignorant. we love our children like you love yours! >> zimmerman has not been arrested. the local police chief is temporarily stepping down in hopes of easing some of the tensions there. the justice department and fbi have opened a civil rights investigation and grand jury has been convened to determine whether to charge zimmerman. in election news --

some political analysts say tomorrow's presidential primary in louisiana could be the last stand for some of the republican candidates. eric -- rick santorum and newt gingrich have been campaigning in louisiana the hardest. santorum is ahead in the latest polls leading into the primary. the south is supposed to be gingrich's strength but he came in second in alabama and third in mississippi. some analysts say if gingrich fails to win more delegates than mitt romney in louisiana it's a sign his campaign is going nowhere. a leading energy researcher says gas prices could double by the beginning of next year. ihs global says we could be paying $8 a gallon for gas if iran closes the strait of hormuz. researchers say iran couldn't keep the shipping passage closed for long but it could disrupt global oil supplies and that could send crude oil prices to $240 a barrel. 4:49.

ac transit is buying american. they've ordered 40 buses. for the last 12 years ac transit has bought only buses made in belgium, now they are buying buss from american. the move came after pressure from the teamsters union to save u.s. jobs. could you handle a day without digital devices? a lot of people will be trying it tonight. it's called "the national day of unplugging." 24 hours without e-mailing, texts, tweeting or facebooking from sunset tonight to sunset tomorrow. national organizer tanya chavez of san francisco says it's about balance. >> we've lost, kind of the ability to focus. we lost the ability to have an uninterrupted conversation with the people we love. we've lost the ability to notice what is going on when we're walking on the street.

welcome back. time now 4:53. search crews found five more bodies in the wreckage of that crews ship that ran aground in italy. the bodies were spotted in the space between the hole and seabed. it could take several days to recover them. the new discovery raises the number of bodies found to 30. two more people are missing and presumed dead. scientists may have solved that mystery of the booth noises in one wisconsin town. it turns out a 1.5 magnitude earthquake hit clintonville on tuesday followed by smaller swarms of quakes. they were so small the size mom
