lowell shot his wife before turning the gun on himself at their home on fin way. the couples 13-year-old daughter found the bodies. the chronicle says joyce lowell had filed for divorce on february 22nd and that christopher lowell had filed his response just the day before that shooting. antioch police have identified the man who was killed in yesterday's officer involved shooting. the man was 26-year-old david lopez, a wanted parolee. police tell ktvu two detectives were on patrol near hill crest when they spotted lopez driving then followed him. when lopez pulled into a driveway police say he refused orders to exit the vehicle and started ramming his car into the detectives car. police say the detectives who were outside their vehicle fired at lopez to avoid getting hit. fbi agents today combed the neighborhood where 15-year-old sierra lamar was last seen one week ago today. robert handa is here now near morgan hill with the extense

sieve search efforts involving federal agents, robert. >> reporter: we're in the area where the missing teenager catches the school bus to get to school and it's a focal point for investigators as well as community members who consider the bus stop an isolated even dangerous space for children. sierra lamar left home to catch the school bus around 7:00 a.m. last friday. so investigators set up a roadblock to talk to regular commuters who might have seen something unusual or suspicious one week ago when the 15-year- old disappeared. >> i know that everybody is on the look out for her. i pray that everybody continues the effort. >> reporter: today fbi agents interviewed local workers and one told the agent he used to see a middle-aged white male in dark clothing hanging around the bus area and hasn't seen him since last friday. >> i can't say that he is suspicious. because maybe he can be like any other person. but it's just, they can ask him. >> reporter: even though this is still a missing person's

christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. the state's unemployment rate remained unchanged in february hovering just below 11%. california's jobless rate last month was 10.9%. that's higher than the nation's unemployment rate of 8.3%. january was the first time in three years that the state's unemployment rate dipped below 11%. >> our peak was 12.4% so we're down significantly from that during the course of the recession. now we want to see better momentum starting to gain in this recovery. >> california added 6,000 farming jobs. here in the bay area all but one county beat the state's unemployment rate. marin county had the lowest jobless rate with 6.6%. solano county had the highest. the american soldier

charged in the shooting rampage of afghan civilians was charged today with 17 counts. premeditated murder is a capital offense and he could be sentenced to death if convicted. the 38-year-old father of two from washington state is accused of killing nine afghan children and eight adults on march 11th. a former california lawmakers who says the state needs to do more to help soldiers returning home. for example army staff sergeant robert bales charged for the afghan killings was on his fourth deployment. >> you do one deployment, you come back. you turn around you do a second deployment. in some cases you do a third, fourth, fifth. in some cases six deployments. >> 11 bills were recently introduced to help veterans transition when you return

burglaries where a criminal had no trouble getting inside. ktvu's jade hernandez is live where police say neighborhoods are a key to stopping this type of crime. >> that's right, the idea is simple, lock it or lose it. near clara and lewis road, a burglary used an open side gate to access a home. police say the burglar ran away from the house with a big screen tv and electronic items. officers canvassing the neighborhood alerted neighbor jean quinones. >> they said the neighbors across the street had been broken into and the neighbor had called 911. >> reporter: a few days ago the department kicked off a new campaign, lock it or lose it. emphasizing burglars entered through unlocked doors in 26%

of burglaries last year. in 28% of the others an open window or gate. so 65% of burglaries -- burglars didn't have to break their way into homes they burglarized. >> they spoke to postoffices reminding them if they see anything they should report it. >> reporter: the department says they've moved two day shift officers to handle those investigations. police staff indicate three years ago burglars broke into 110 homes. in 2011, 149. this year in march alone 26. all total 68 since january. >> it's a shame that you have to lock anything. what's yours should be yours. but again respect what you have and lock your doors. >> reporter: the department is holding a community meeting for neighbors like tomas next wednesday right here in palo alto.

jade hernandez. in richmond two mothers were in court today, they are the first parents in the state to face charges to their children being truant. both pled not guilty. both of their children attend rodeo hills elementary school. under the law parents can be charged if their children miss more than 10% of the school year. a sweeping study on data breeches shows anonymous was responsible for the majority of breeches last year. that's according to v erizon's data. 100million were taken by hacktavists. it appears stockholders of san francisco based zynga will begin selling their shares.

according to the country's regulatory filing, stockholders will sell 123 million shares. the online game maker went public back in december. the city of richmond just scored almost $2.5 million in federal money to reduce the hazards of lead. the money will go toward the program richmond effort to abate lead other known as r.i. o. the group looks toinvest in local infrastructure -- to invest in local infrastructure. it appears lead is not the only concern. san pablo bay has the highest toxic discharge in the state. sassoon bay ranked third, the san francisco bay came in 12th. well after a really nice friday, the clouds are starting

this. saturday at 6:00 a.m. it's wet. saturday lunchtime, it's wet. but widely scattered showers. looks like the front has kind of progressed through. saturday 5:00, santa clara valley down toward the santa cruz mountains you have some activity. here comes sunday morning. right now it's just everywhere. it's an air mass thing at this point. you're going to have scattered shower, scattered showers on sunday. might be some sunshine in the peninsula. sunday afternoon at 5:00 it's moving off into the mountains. if you have mountain travel plans, the winter weather watch is in effect could easily -- probably will turn into winter weather as we head into tomorrow morning for the most part. as we go through time we're looking at the models to show us more rain right into the bay area weekend. that means a half inch most of us. this is accumulative now to two inches in the coastal hills. so not like the last one that dumped, nine, 10, 12-inches in the coastal hills. we may see 2. 2.5-inches in the coastal hill.
