the storm is headed east. still a chance of showers today. rosemary orozco joins us with a look outside. >> today will be a better day. with that said,ly say keep that umbrella handy. we do have scattered showers in the forecast for today. the steady rain. the rain that would not stop yesterday has pushed off to the east. east into sacramento and into the sierra. north bay reporting scattered showers at times. the scattered showers will remain in the forecast for today. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions so far. highway patrol say there is has been no shortage of spinouts on the wet roadways. there have been several this morning. chp hopes new signs showing drivers how fast they are going will cut down on the number of car accidents. >> of course you get the people that drive it every day that think it's a normal day.

and they don't slow down a lot of times. a crash does happen. >> yesterday a storm brought down trees knocking out electric to some customers in hillsburg. many folks say they are welcoming the wet spring weather. one man is in jail after he drove drunk and killed his female passenger. it happened around 7:00 last night in contra costa county. it appears the 44-year-old driver veered off the road and hit a light pole. his 53-year-old passenger died at the scene. both the driver and passengerred are reportedly from vallejo. a couple hundred people in san francisco are without power. the outages in the marina district within the last 15 minutes pg&e told us there is 200 customers effected. at the highlight of this outage

5300 customer were in the dark. pg&e is investigating what caused that outage. the bay area is joining the national outcry of the shooting death of teenager trayvon martin. allie rasmus is live in oakland where a service will soon be held. >> reporter: we are in front of the allen baptist church. they with one of a dozen churches taking part in what they call hoody sunday. they are having services in the young man pictured in this photo. this is trayvon martin. a 17-year-old florida who was shot and killed from a neighborhood watch captain. that captain claimed he was acting in self-defense. martin was unarmed. carrying his cell phone, iced tea, and a bag of skittles with him. he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt that has become a symbol of his shooting death.

and protests scheduled to happen. live in oakland allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. members of the black panther party are offering a $10 no, bounty for the capture of zimmerman. the new black panther leader announced the reward yesterday during a protest in sanford, florida. >> we believe the justice department has a history of covering up murders of innocent black men, women, and children. they must do their job properly. we will step up and apprehend him and arrest him all by ourselves. >> they asked citizens to leave all arrests to them. crime scene investigators will return to the san francisco home where five people were found dead. bags of evidence were brought out of the home which is across from city college. they are still trying to figure out if this was a murder

suicide and the killer is dead. >> maybes say they hope police will be able to provide them with answers soon. >> for the police to find out exactly what happened. they have to know more about it. i guess it's not an easy task to truly find the truth if there is no witnesses. >> police have not released the identity of the victims. they are not talking at the investigation expect to say they are still looking for the murder weapon. people searching for a missing morgan hill teenager are not giving up hope even though the biggest search yet did not turn up any evidence. more than 100 search and rescue teams visited a 12-mile area near his home. he was seen more than a week ago walking to the school bus. the fbi is searching homes in the area and questioning neighbors about lamar's

he will be at a fundraising event in redwood city. on tuesday morning he will attend the fundraising breakfast at the stockton home of billionaire. it costs $1,000. the last time romney campaigned in the bay area was back in december. and occupy redwood city will be there to welcome mitt romney to the redwood city area. they plan on hosting a ceremony at 4:00 p.m. at 223 twin dolphin drive. this is where romney is holding a fundraiser event. it will attend as the group multimillionaires for mitt. and will mock his ideas of taxing the poor and ban on gay marriage. oral arguments begin tomorrow and reporter rick has more on what is the heart of the issue. >> reporter: these people are not camping out to buy the latest apple product. they are lined up outside the nation's highest court. hoping to witness monday's oral

outdoor activities like hiking. the governor of idaho is asking for federal money to help control the states wolf population. gray wolves were once endangered but that is growing after they were reintroduced into idaho as part of a federal program. the state is required to maintain a population of 150 wolves and ten breeding pairs. that requirement has created a battle over who will pay for the cost of doing that. >> we had a large economic impact on us. those folks that want them here should be the ones that are paying for them. we don't want them here. >> federal funds could be cut off as early as next year. it's estimated wolves kill around 1,000 elk a year. today is the last day for free clinic in oakland. all week people have been lining up before dawn at the coliseum. they have received free health that ranges from dental to

hospital. the oakland tribune reports the boy was from hayward and may have been going to a party nearby. no arrests have been made. that san jose man is facing attempted murder charges after threatening his family and firing shots at officers. police got a call from a home just before 11:00 yesterday morning. a caller said a family member armed with a handgun was shoving and threatening other realtives. >> the officers drew their weapons and one of the officers got shots off and tried to defend himself and his partner. >> neither the officers nor the suspect were hit by gunfire. the 27-year-old suspect ran out through the back of the house trying to escape. police caught him a few blocks away. the beating death of a 32- year-old iraqi woman is being investigated as a hate crime.

on wednesday the victim's daughter found her mother unconscious in their home in san diego county. yesterday she was taken off life support. the woman had been beaten with a tire iron and there was a note next to her body telling her to go back to her home. >> definitely we need to work with the law enforcement to bring the murder the cold- blooded killer to justice. >> friends say the family moved to the san diego area just about three months ago. the woman and her husband were working with the u.s. army to train soldiers how to adapt to the culture in the middle east. the victim is survived by her husband and five children. a group of marines will search pacifica to find their missing friend. marines from across the country flew in to help with the search efforts yesterday. they are hoping to find former marine joseph mchenry of san bruno. he told his family he was going

camping for a few days but he was never found. his backpack was found near mauri point. >> i have actually deployed with him. he lived right next to me. we spent a lot of time together. >> mchenry was reported missing an march 5th. police did a search of the area earlier this month and did not find anything. suspension of sheriff ross mirkarimi. the argument between mirkarimi and his wife stemmed from her desire to take their son to venezuela. according to the report, mirkarimi became furious when the subject came up while they were driving to lunch. they turned the car around and began cursing and screaming at his wife saying you don't deserve to eat. mirkarimi and lopez have insisted he did not abuse her. if you see police officers,

firefighters, and ambulances in action at san jose international airport tomorrow morning don't worry it's just a drill. they will be holding a full scale emergency response exercise from 9:00 to noon tomorrow. complete with volunteers acting like passengers and injured people. it will test how different agencies would work with each other in the event of a major disaster at the airport. independent review panel that just approved the seismic safety of the bridge. the sacramento b reports three of the four engineering advisors have financial and professional ties to cal tran. the three others -- design at the experts say these are conflicts of interest that effect the panels judgment. drivers should expect delays on highway 12. cal tran will install new dividers.

this morning police are looking for three suspects they say shot and killed a mississippi state university student. a school spokeswoman said the shooting was reported at a residence hall last night. three male suspects were seen running from the building and driving off in a blue crown victoria. they alerted students by text message. the school remains under emergency conditions. the hunt is on for a gunman that shot three people. people that live in that area say they were pretty unnerved. >> there was a lot of chaos. people yelling and girls screaming. i said somebody got shot for sure. >> i thought this area was really nice. that's the reason we moved out here. just hearing that kind of violence is going on is pretty scary. >> investigators did in fact release a sus -- did not release a suspect description.

the service here is in honor of the florida teen that was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch captain. that teen is trayvon martin. the watch captain is named george zimmerman. zimmerman claims of he was acting in self-defense. martin was not armed. he was carrying only his cell phone, iced tea, scene a bag of skittles with him when he was shot and killed. martin was wearing a hooded suite shirt a hoody. hooded sweatshirts have become a symbol of his death. what martin was wearing and why he was perceived as a threat sparked a national discussion on vigilantism, anuriasism. >> i'm in my hoody and this is how i walked around at 17. i was in a hoody, growing up here in oakland buying iced tea and skittles at stores. enzyme still trying to fig -- i'm still trying to figure it out. >> reporter: zimmerman has not

national outcry. bay area churches are now among those demanding justice. >> reporter: we're inside the lobby of the allen temple bap test church in oakland much their service is underway. this service is dedicated to 17- year-old trayvon martin, the florida teen wearing a hooded sweat shirt shot and killed by a neighborhood watch captain. as you look at the people here, a lot of them are wearing their hooded sweatshirts excluding the senior pastor who is speaking at the podium. everyone here is wearing a hooded sweatshirt in honor of martin. many chrch members heeded the call. we saw parents, grandparents and children coming to the service today wearing hooded sweatshirts. george zimmerman claimed he was acting in self-defense. martin was not armed. he was carrying a a cell phone, iced tea and a bag of skittles when he was shot and killed in a florida neighborhood.

martinez. winds are light. we'll continue with the possibility of a few showers and the temperatures this morning are chilly. san leandro police are investigating a shooting outside a sports bar. it happened around 1:30 a.m. on washington avenue. police say two women got into a fight inside the bar and then that spilled outside. witnesses say with two men started to argue and one of them opened fire. one man was shot in the chest and injured. one person was arrested. a home invasion suspect is in the hospital after a homeowner shot him around 4:30 a.m. at gull avenue and crane avenue in foster city. the homeowner called police and said he heard noises that sound like someone was trying to break into his home. when police arrived they hear gunshots. the homeowner had shot the burglar three times. the suspect has been taken to

the hospital. we have new information what fatal shooting in oakland. the victim is reportedly a 16- year-old boy. police say they found the teen just after 10:00 friday night near the east monttown center. he was shot in the head and died on the way to the hospital. the boy was from hayward. no arrests have been made. the beating death of a 32 year iraqi woman is being investigated as a hate crime. wednesday the victim's daughter found her mother unconscious in their home in san diego county. yesterday she was taken off life support. police say that woman was beaten with a tire iron and there was a note next to her body telling her to go back to her home. >> definitely we need to work with the law enforcement to bring the murderer, the cold blooded killer, to justice. >> friends say the family moved to the san diego area about three months ago.

attempted murder charges after threatening his family and firing shots at police officers. police received a 9-1-1 call from someone inside a home yesterday morning. the caller said that family member armed with a has not gun was shoving and threatening other relatives. >> the suspect basically exited the house, fired several rounds. the rounds impacted a a vehicle near where the police officers were standing. the police officers drew their weapons. one of the police officers got shots off. >> neither the police officers or the suspect were hit by the gunfire. the suspect did run out the back of the house trying to escape. he was caught and taken into custody. the hunt is on for a gunman who police say shot five people in southern california. it was in desert hot springs in riverside county.
