just cool below normal. a chilly start this morning. 30s and low 40s in parts of the north bay. 47-degrees in san francisco. if i back this up for you, you will see there it is. high clouds will approach the coast by tomorrow or tonight or today and then we've got rain in store for tomorrow. i was trying to give you storm tracker but i gave you the wrong map. i'll show you the details on that if a few moment -- on that in a few moments. also this mornings commute looks good in san francisco. along the james lick freeway. let's go back to the dave and pam. there is a major development in a story we first broke on friday's mornings on 2. a man is in custody in suspicion of five murders. tara moriarty is in san francisco right now to tell us about this suspect and his

alleged victims. tara. >> reporter: police tell us there were four separate homicide scenes inside this house alone. so that made their job very difficult. it was a very complicated and confusing crime scene. sources tell us the suspect had thrown bleach and paint over parts of the home to tamper the evidence. investigators really took their time sifting through everything. 48 hours after the bodies were discovered police zeroed in on 35-year-old binh thai luc. they arrested him yesterday. they believe he is responsible for the savage killings of five people on saturday. next door neighbor says the victims were well liked, helpful, and even took out his garbage for him. >> hard to focus at work or anything. it's very tragic. people die in accidents. okay. so it's an accident. but this is intentional.

much scarier. >> reporter: investigators won't say what lead them to luc but apparently he knew all five victims. police told ktvu they were looking into a gambling debt as a motive. it's believe that the victim is a man and wife. they all died from blunt force trauma and an edged weapon was used in the slayings. live from san francisco i'm tara moriarty. overnight one person is dead after a stabbing in san francisco. that happened some time after 10:00 last night at buchanon street. the brother of the victim says the man was stabbed while visiting relatives. two people were taken into custody last night including one person who may be a juvenile. not clear though what lead up to that stabbing. new searches are starting tomorrow to find missing morgan

hill teenager sierra lamar who vanished while walking to her schoolbags stop. allie rasmus is at the intersection lamar never made it to with more on the latest efforts to bring her home. >> reporter: 15-year-old sierra lamar was last seen on march 16th. she was supposed to be walking to this intersection a couple blocks away from her home to catch the bus to school. ten days later there are pictures, fliers of her posted throughout the town of morgan hill. the search for her continues. over the week search officials set up a search and rescue command center. they unrolled maps and notes. they searched open fields and roads within a 12-mile radius of her house. this home is in a somewhat rural area with a lot of farm fields network. they conducted roadside churches as well. there is more volunteer

organized searches planned tomorrow. sierra's mother said she is grateful for the community and help. >> each day it gets really hard because she is gone. and you know that means each day she needs to hang in there and be strong. you know. it's hard. >> reporter: last night more than 200 members of the community turned out for a candle light vigil to support lamar's family. friends of sierra say they are not giving hope and they are hoping to have a big turnout. anyone that wants to help should arrive at burnett elementary at 8:00 a.m.. you have to be 18 years old to help with that search and a photo id ready. live in morgan hill allie rasmus. time 6:05. today republican presidential candidate mitt romney will be raising money right here in the bay area. this afternoon romney will appear at an event in redwood city. tomorrow morning he heads to stockton for a fundraising

breakfast. tickets for both events start at $1,000. protestors they will also be at today's event. they include groups like occupy redwood city and the raging grannies. rick santorum is also coming to the bay area. fresh off his victory. santorum won 49% of the vote. romney won 26% of the vote and five of the delegates. the states remaining five delegates will remain uncommitted until the convention. on wednesday a fundraiser for santorum will be held at a home in alamo. starting today the u.s. supreme court will hear three days of oral arguments about president obama's health care reform law. people have been camped out in front of the supreme court since friday. trying to get in to watch the

high stakes legal battle. coming up for you at 6:15 our washington d.c. bureau will bring us a scene that is taking place in front of the supreme court this morning. a mystery continues to surround an attack at a bart station in san francisco. an unconscious man was found on the floor of the civic center bart station. he is in the just so you know at the time the victim was wearing -- he stands six feet tall. he's white with brown hair and hazel eyes and he was wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes at the time of the attack. let's go back to sal. everybody behaving around the toll plaza? >> yeah, they are. it is getting a little more crowded. good morning, to you. right now traffic coming up to the toll plaza looks pretty good if you are driving there you will see a little bit of a

crowd. nothing unusual though. it's looking good once you get on the bridge. also this morning we are looking at interstate 880 in oakland. that traffic is moving along nicely in both directions with no major problems. if you are driving in the south bay, northbound 17 traffic has been moderately heavy coming up through the mountains. a little bit of heavy traffic southbound is increasingly more people leave last georgias to and go -- lost bahs to and go over the hill. traffic on 1010 and 20 off to a good start. no troubles on the san mateo or dumbarton bridge. let's go to rosemary. fairly quiet out there this morning. light breeze in some cases. san roe -- santa rosa reporting

a little bit of fog. 37-degrees in san to roe -- santa rosa. 38 in napa. cooling you have off a little closer to sunrise. 42 in concord. we have less than an hour to the sunrise. clouds will be on the increase by the end of the day not a lot of sunshine. 41 san jose. 41 along the redwood city. 45 at sfo. 47 in oakland. backing it up is what i attempted to show you earlier. we've got this system that will bring us the high clouds. first we get the filtered sunshine and the soft sun light. by the evening hours we'll see the gray skies. let's get this started here. picking it up tuesday morning. we are light rain over parts of the north bay. this could be a slick commute. south of the golden gate it looks like it will remain mostly dry. the evening drive home everybody will be included in that one. wednesday morning we wake up we are still soggy.

rain still falling. scattered showers in the forecast. not until wednesday afternoon this is finally pushed out of here. we will see a decent amount of rain. the last week of march will be unsettled. through 9:00 low 40s and low 50s. we'll have temperatures 50s, 50s to low 60s. again below average for late march. your extended forecast there rain arrives tomorrow. it sticks with us through wednesday morning. we dry out wednesday afternoon. slight chance far sprinkle or two over the north bay. we are dry on friday. the weekend looks a bit unsettled. low 60s in the forecast. scattered showers a possibility on saturday. look at this. another snowy weekend in the city area. another snowy weekend in the sierra. it snowed most of the day. there may be a little bit of snow left on the top of the bay area highest hills.

welcome back. our time now 6:13. an iraqi woman brutally beaten in her home has tided and -- has died. shaima alawadi was taken off life support over the weekend. police have not ruled out the possibility this was a hate crime. relatives say a note found near her body said and i'm quoting go back to your own country terrorist. it was not the first note that family had received. >> a week ago they left a letter saying this is our country not yours, you

terrorist. so my mom ignored that thinking kids playing around. pranking. and so the day they hit her, you know they left it again. and it said the same thing. >> alawadi was a mother of five that immigrated to the u.s. with her family almost 20 years ago. her body is being flown to iraq for a funeral. so far investigator have not named any suspects. the brother of the islamic gunman that confessed to killing seven people in france has been charged in the case. the main suspect died last weekend in a shootout with french police. investigators will now charge his younger brother for involvement in the murders and in terrorism. he is denying the accusations but admits he was there when his wore that stole a scooter that was used in the attack of a jewish school. happening now the u.s. supreme court beginning three days of oral arguments on president obama's health care

reform law. it's triggering a lot of emotion on both sides. alison burns now describes that scene outside the supreme court this morning. >> reporter: pam, we are in an area between the u.s. capitol building where the landmark health reform law was passed two years ago and the united states supreme court. the arguments begin in about 45 minutes. the demonstrators started marching an hour and a half ago. there seem to be more people here that want to see the health reform law uphold. one woman that survived breast cancer came from laguna beach. >> i just want a choice. if they want government health care, that is fine. i will be buy my own health care. we should have a choice. >> reporter: here is a look at the line that started friday afternoon. people camped out over the

weekend. they braved the rain here in washington, d.c. to get one of the 400 seats inside the court. we have been told the court has started letting people in. we'll have more live coverage during my next update in about an hour. for now we are live in washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. salary for california lawmakers have been cut in recent years but still remain the highest in the country. the base pay for california lawmakers is about $95,000 a year. that is followed by pennsylvania at 82,000. and new york by $79,000. 6:17. philippine boxing champmanny pacquiao say charges that he is a tax cheat is simple harassment. he has claimed he never shortchanged the philippine government. they have filed a criminal complaint against him for failing to submit tax

documents. he could face two years in prison if he is convicted. a rave with a deadly past is coming to oakland this weekend. two years ago two people died after taking ecstasy at the cow palace. eight other people got sick and police madaroses of drug arrests. the promoters of that arrest will hold a similar event at oakland's oracle arena on saturday. 12,000 people are expected to attend pop 2012. supporters say they are working with oakland police to make sure the party is good. now each assembly member selected a woman in their district who has made an impact in their community. mara has raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer research. i want to show you something. this is the tuck tuck.

good morning. highway 4 traffic looks pretty good. although it's getting more crowded coming up to the willow pass grade. no major problems as you drive to concord. tonight the parent parents of trayvon martin will address a town hall meeting in florida. they are overwhelmed by the public support they received. last night a sol limb vigil was held to remember the 17-year- old that was gunned down last month. >> i want to say we really thank them and appreciate the support. it means a lot to us. this really hit home. >> neighborhood watch volunteer

zimmerman shot and killed martin but claims it was in self-defense. hyenas not been arrested. both federal and florida state governments have opened up invests into the case. there will be a rally today for trayvon martin here in the bay area. organizers are calling it an emergency scream out for justice. they say sometimes speaking is just not enough. the noontime event will be held outside san francisco's hall of justice. time 6:26. it's not easy to rattle former american idol judge simon cowell of the x-factor but it happened. simon cowell told police he heard a loud bang saturday night. he went up stairs to check it out. there was a woman standing in his bathroom holding a brick. simon security team who was there captured the woman until the police got there. the 29-year-old woman is charged with breaking into cowell's home. she is due in court today. the stanford women's

company. they are there talking about the patents they have developed. >> thank you. thank you for joining us. it's a brand new day, monday, march 26th i'm dave clark. >> and i'm pam cook. time is 6:30. in the news right now police in san francisco still watching over a house where five people were murdered. this is a story we first broke during friday's mornings on 2. tara moriarty is out there right now to tell us what it took to break this case. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. more than 40 investigators worked around the clock getting very, very little sleep in order to make an arrest which happened just yesterday. what kept them going what was inside that orange house. one of the most savage crime scenes san francisco police say they have seen in years. 4 hours after the bodies were discovered police zeroed in on

35-year-old binh luc. she was booked a the jail yesterday. they believe he is responsible for the brutal killings of five people yesterday. investigators won't say what lead them to luc but he did know all five victims. two police sources told ktvu they were looking into a gambling debt as a possible motive. >> we do have information we are following up there could be prior gang ties loved in this situation. a although we don't believe at this point in time this was gang related. >> reporter: it's believe the victim is a man and wife both chinese immigrants. the couples daughter and son and the son's girlfriend all died from blunt force trauma. they have still not located the weapon. we are waiting for official cause of results from the medical examiner. hopefully we will learn that later today and the identities of those victims. live in san francisco i'm tara

moriarty. san jose police are looking far man that tried to kidnap a teenage girl in broad daylight. a 16-year-old girl was approached by a man in the willow glen neighborhood. he suddenly attacked her with a stun gun type of weapon and tried to drag her into his car. she managed to get away. she described the man as hispanic in his 30s, 5'7" weighing 200 pounds. and drove away in a red compact car with tinted windows. it has been ten days since sierra lamar was last seen. coming up at 6:45 we'll have a live report on the missing children's foundation that is stepping in and how you can help. time 6:33. new this morning nato reports another deadly attack inside a military base in ag. it happened early this morning in southern afghanistan. a man dressed in an afghan army uniform shot and killed two

international service members. it appears to be the latest in a spring of recent attack where is afghan security forces have turned on foreign soldiers. meantime the wife of the u.s. soldier accused of killing 17 afghan civilians earlier this month is publicly defending her husband. carolyn bales is the wife of staff sergeant robert bales. she calls the charges and i'm quoting here unbelievable. the pentagon says sergeant bales wondered off his military base and randomly killed nine afghan children and eight adults. the chp is investigating a flutey crash in pleasanton. that happened on highway 680. the chp says one car flew off the freeway after a crash involving three cars. one man in his 60s was killed.

at least one other person was seriously injured. it's not clear what lead up to that deadly crash. investigators say there is no sign that alcohol was a factor. 6:34. there is a new controversy this morning. it's tied to the multibillion dollar project to build the new bay bridge. christien kafton is here now to tell us angry union members are using billboards to get their message out. >> reporter: good morning, dave. traffic is starting to pick up here as they leave the maze. they are starting to get the look at the new billboard. you can see it as you exit the bridge. it reads the bay bridge 100% foreign steel and set on the backdrop of a chinese flag. the billboard is one of two already up in oakland. the group will be holding a news conference in emeryville bringing together various labor groups to discuss the failure

reported. her disappearance has captured national attention and the search for her continues. last night more than 200 members of the community turned out far candle light vigil to support sierra lamar's family. they were not giving up hope she will return home. her mother said she will not give up hope. >> when people tell me how many days she is missing, i just try not to think about that. i know she is coming back home to us. right. >> reporter: over the weekend sheriff officials set up a search and rescue command center. they unraveled maps and notes and combed through open fields and roads. she lives in a somewhat rural area so there is a lot of farm fields they had to go through. volunteers also conducted roadside searches as well. as we tole you there is more volunteer search efforts planned starting tomorrow and the rest of the week.

terrorists. >> while he's there at the summit, president obama is also having side meetings with world leaders like one with the president of china. president obama urged president tow to use his countries influence to push north korea to meet its obligations. in one hour pope benedict will start his trip to cuba. he is expected to arrive at the island at 8:00 west coast time. the pope spent the weekend appearing before huge crowds in mexico. if you are near san jose international airport this morning, don't be surprised if you see a lot of fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars. they will be taking part in an emergency drill. several agencies and the red cross will be testing how to respond to accidents.
