>> reporter: san francisco police make a big announcement regarding five kills at a home -- killings at a home near city college. we'll tell you who they took into custody. also, mitt romney comes to the bay area today. his violent death has outraged the nation. today there will be another bay area demonstration about the killing of trayvon martin. and also, higher education. why enrollment is down. this monday, march 26th. there is a major development in morning in a story we first broke on "mornings on 2." last friday, viewers on newschopper2 flew over the ingleside district where police were investigate the murders of five people. tara moriarty is outside of that home with new information about the victims and their alleged attacker who is now in custody. tara? >> reporter: well, the orange house that you see behind me, what's behind that gate is one of the most violent crime scene san francisco police say they've seen in years. investigators have worked around the clock since friday morning to catch the person responsible. yesterday, morning they arrested bin thai luc in san francisco. police believe luc is responsible for the brutal killings of five people on friday who lished off the home -- who lived off the home on howth. police say he knew his victims.

police say they are looking into a possible gambling debt for a possible motive. one neighbor remembers hearing yelling but he didn't know anything was wrong. >> i heard someone shouting to get on the ground. but after that, it was silent. this is really, really good landlords here. it's not something that you expect to happen here. it's very shocking. >> reporter: its believed the victims are a man and a wife, both chinese immigrants. the couple's daughter, son and the son's girlfriend. police say they all died from blunt force trauma with an edged tool. they've still not located the weapon. we are awaiting official cause of death results from the coroner. we'll receive that later today, along with the identities of the victims. meanwhile, flowers continue to pile up outside the house on

howth street. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. a person is dead after being stabbed in san francisco. it happened sometime after 10:00 last night on buchanan and golden gate avenue. the brother of the victim said he was stabbed while visiting relatives. two people were taken into custody last night, including one person who may be a juvenile. still not clear what led up to the stabbing. meantime, a mystery continues to surround an attack at a san francisco b.a.r.t. station earlier this month. an unconscious man was found bleeding from his head right on the floor of the civic says. he's still in the hospital -- civic station. he's still in the hospital in stable condition. the victim is about 6 feet tall, identified as a white man with brown hair and hazel eyes. he was wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. time is 7:03. a new survey shows support for governor brown's proposal to raise taxes on high-income

earners to reduce the budget deficit and raise the schools. 65% of voters surveyed said they support the measure because it would temporarily increase income tax on people who make $250,000 a year or more. among those poll, 87% of democrats support this, compared to the 38% of the republicans. romney will be in the bay area today campaigning for cash. he will appear at a redwood city fund-raiser. tomorrow morning he heads to stockton. tickets for this event start around $1,000. protesters will also be there and will include groups including occupy redwood city. meantime, rick santorum will also be making a visit to the bay area. in louisiana, santorum won 49% of the vote and 150 of that state's 20 -- 10 of that

state's delegates. romney won five delegates. santorum will be in the bay area for a fund-raiser thursday at a private home in alamo. tickets for that event range from $125 to $2500. 7:04. starting today, the u.s. supreme court will hear three days of oral arguments mr. president obama 'healthcare law. people have been camped out, look at this, in front of the supreme court building since friday, hoping to get in and watch the high stakes legal battle. coming up for you at 7:15, our washington, d.c. bureau will bring us the scene of what's happening right now in front of the u.s. supreme court this morning. all right. 7:05. let's turn it over to sal. sal, it seems like this monday morning is not too bad on the roads yet. >> reporter: not yet. and we hope it will stay nice and pretty normal for the monday morning commute. you will see some slowdowns but nothing too much out of the ordinary. as we look at the south bay,

we're having a little bit of slow traffic now. northbound 101 near the 880 interchange, it looks like there's something new that popped up there. there could be a crash on the shoulder. the chp is looking for it, northbound 101 but. but there are no -- 101, but there are no major slowdowns. traffic is moving along nicely passing the coliseum. so far it's not become really slow and the morning drive at the toll plaza, that's backed up for a little bit of a delay. you can see a boat driving right into the drive time traffic sign. the director moved it. nice play. mice work -- nice work. 7:06. did you see that, rosemary? >> that was kind of cool. good morning. today will be a dry day but a moist flow in praise for the weekend -- praise for the weekend. keep that umbrella hany you --

beginning to fill into the bay area this morning. 7:11. his violent death has stirred outrage across the nation. today there will be another bay area demonstration tied to the killing of trayvon martin. kristin kafton -- ktvu's christien kafton is joining us live with more. >> reporter: yeah this, is set to take place in front of the police station calling for justice for trayvon martin. eachert weekend, congregations around the bay area wore hooded sweatshirts, the same clothing that martin was wearing when he was shot. faith leaders say they wore the hoodies in solidarity. >> it stirs up a sense of righteous indig in-- indignation.

marching for! >> reporter: you can see the crowd of demonstrators has gotten larger since our last update. for the most part we're seeing activists who want to see the law upheld. they say it will save people money. now, many camped out to see the hick arguments. we talked to a woman who blogs about the supreme court but she also came here from pasadena as an advocate for her late father. >> healthcare is an incredibly personal issue. my father passed away from lung cancer. one of the reasons it turnts -- turned fatal is because he wasn't able to have it diagnosed earlier because he didn't have health insurance. >> i don't want the law deciding what i need, a pill or surgery. >> reporter: the court is taking the care step today of releasing audio later on of the

distorting his words against opponent, mitt romney. >> he's the worst republican in the country to put up against barack obama. why would wisconsin want to vote for sun like that -- someone like that? >> santorum told wisconsin supporters rom sni not a -- romney is not a true conner is va tish. but -- conservative. but afterwards, when asked, he said the media twisted his words. wisconsin congressman paul ryan seems to be leaving the door open for a possible vice presidential run for the gop ticket. >> i would have to consider it. but it's not something i'm even thinking about because i think our job in congress is pretty important. >> when asked if he wanted to run, he didn't say yes, but he didn't say no. in the past, he flatout dismissed the idea saying he wanted to focus on current job

in jeopardy. 7:17. enrollment is down at oakland's oakster dam university. since 2 a 07, 15,000 -- 2007, 15,000 students have studied. the enrollment started to drop lat fall. oakster dam used to have seven classes per semester with 70 in even class the now there's just one -- in each class. now there's just one class with 50 people if it. a deliveryman was take taking marijuana to a home when he was approached by two suspects. the suspects grabbed it and they ran. a rave with a deadly pat is coming to oakland this weekend. two years ago, two people died after taking ecstasy at a rash party at the cow palace. eight other people became sick

and police made dozens of arrests. now supporters are holding a similar event at oakland's arena. on saturday, 12,000 people are expected to attend the party. it's called pop 2012. the promosters say they are working -- promoters say the working -- say they are working with the police to make sure this event a safe one. well, the bay area got a break from the rain but it won't last lock -- last long. also, it's almost tebow time! the controversy for the new jet is already sparking. and this morning's commute in marin county doesn't look all that bad. southbound 101, so far, just a little bit of congestion as you approach the middle of marin.

california yesterday. it looks like it -- just like it did in the bay area on saturday. this is video of hollywood. they were due for about an inch of rain and that rain has seen seasonal rainfall of about 6 ins which is less than half of what they get in an average year. >> yeah, we're gonna get some, too. sal, have you a growing commute this morning? >> yeah, we do, dave and maureen. right now, the traffic is getting a little bit busier around the bay area. with the wet weather not being here for today's commute. i think we're doing much better than we could be. this is a look at 237 westbound. you can see traffic is getting a little bit slow in the usual spots. 880 nearby, a little slow as well. but what i look at and i keep track of what the chp is doing. they haven't been called to many chp accidents. when it rapes, we have 3, 4, maybe five times the number of accidents that we normally

have. we look at the peninsula, and 280 still looking pretty good. southbound 880 at 29, there is a crash there on the shoulder. so watch for slow traffic before and after on 880 as you head south. let's go to rosemary. we'll be braving the ret roadways for -- wet roadways, tuesday for some of us. wednesday for most of us. so get outdoors and look at what sunshine is left. crowds are increasing this morning and in the afternoon, the clouds will thicken up. the forecast model showing you that system off the coat is gonna bring us some rain. we may see any where from .50 to 1 inch to 3. today, partly to mostly cloudy. the temperatures will be slightly warmer. on tuesday, the rain arrives in the morning, spread south over the course of the day. let's pick it up. the time stamp says 7:00 a.m. notice rain over the north bay

welcome back. 7:29. new searches are start tomorrow to find the missing morgan hill teenage who vanished while walking to her school bus stop. allie rasmus is live at the intersection this morning that sierra lamar never made it to and she has more on the latest effort to bring her home. >> reporter: well, 15-year-old sierra lamar was last seen on march 1th. she was supposed to to walk to this intersection to catch the bus to school. but she never made it to the high school. it's been ten days since she

first disappeared. there are pictures and fliers of her posted throughout the town of morgan hill. people continue to look for her and disappearance has captured national attention. the search continues. over the weekend, sheriff officials set up a search and command center. they unfurled maps and notes and searched open fields and roads within a 12-mile radius of her home in morgue be hill. volunteers took part in roadside search as well and there are more planned for tomorrow. they are organized by the class kids foundation. we talked to the founder of that organization a short time ago about planning shows efforts, he says they are willing to take as many volunteers as they can to come out and help. >> our church director flew in from florida yesterday and we'll be having many of those meetings today. we'll be meeting with the family and law enforcement and we'll try to devise specific strategies ms but what i can tell -- strategies. but what i can tell you is we'll be able to give viable

search areas to absolutely every volunteer. >> reporter: now, friends and family members say they are determined not to give up hope that cor will come home safely. last night more than 200 people in the community came together for a candlelight vigil to support sierra's family. there's a lot of ground for volunteers to cover, as mark klass said. so the new search efforts start at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow. anyone who wants to help is encouraged to come at 8:00 tomorrow. you have to be 18 and have a photo i.d. with you. they will be doing the volunteer efforts every day starting tomorrow until next week. san jose police are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a girl in broad daylight. police say a 16-year-old was approached by a man and they say he attacked her with a stun gun-type weapon and tried to

drag her in his car. police describe the man as an hispanic in his 30s at 5'7", and weighing 200 pounds. he drove away in a car with tinted windows. a man is in jail this morning for accusing five people in san francisco. 45-year-old bin thai luc is facing five counts of murder. he was arrested yesterday and police say he did not surrender peacefully. investigators are still determining the cause of death of the firn murders. the victims were not shot -- five murders. the victims were not shot. they were killed with blunt force trauma. coming up we'll tell you about the type of weapon used in one of the bloody of the attacks san francisco police say they'ver ever seen. a fatal crash happened last nighten 6 -- on 680.

to be a dangerous refrigerant. no injuries reported. 7:34. sunnyvale soccer coach accused of sexually assaulting a 13- year-old girl is expected to enter a plea in court today. the 3-year-old was arrested last wednesday at his apartment. he's charged with lewd acts with a minor and sexual assault of a minor. he's also a coach with the west valleyly youth soccer league. he's in jail on $1 million bail. new this morning, nato reports another deadly attack inside a military base insiding a. it happened early this morning at a base in southern afghanistan. nato says a man dressed in an afghan army uniform shot and killed two international service members. it appears to be the latest of strings where afghan security forces will turn against

foreign soldiers. well, the wife of the man accused of killing 17 afghans earlier this month is now depend -- defending her husband publicly. she says her husband is a brave, heroic man who joined the army after the september 11th attacks to try to protect the country. the pentagon says bales randomly killed nine children and eight adults. the main suspect, muhammed mehra, died last week in a shootout with police. investigators will now charge his younger brother, the 29- year-old, for his involvement in the murder and in terrorism. he key my -- he denies accusations but says his brother was there when his brother stole a scooter. rescue personnel are in

welcome back. new this morning, about 45 minutes ago, latest report on pending home seams was released. it -- sales was release. it said the report fell. that signifies the number of people to buy a new home or previously-used home. analysts say this home is more volatile than new home sales because people can still back out of the deal or can be canceled. they say pending sales should increase over the spring and

summer. and stocks have been up so far today. currently, the dow is up 135 points after some positive figures have come out and some hopes based on europe and the debt crisis there. also if we want to look at the other indexes, we saw the -- we see the dow up 135. nasdaq is up 33 points. s&p is also up 13. there are three new members on yahoo's board of directors. the company rejected the candidate's push. this set thes the stage for at proxy -- for a proxy battle at the next meeting. whichever side wins is likely to determine the future of yahoo!. well, at&t is saying, i told you so, to the fcc. at&t says it warned the government. it mobile might have to cut jobs if its buyout offer was not approved. the deal faced strong

the brother of the victim said the man was stabbed while vitting relatives. two people were taken into custody last night. but it's not clear exactly led up to the stabbing. police are having trouble finding witnesses after an attack at a b.a.r.t. station. an unconscious man was found bleeding from his head on march 9th. he remain in the hospital listed in critical condition. police are asking b.a.r.t. riders who may have witnessed the incident to step forward. the victim is described as 6 feet tall, white, with brown hair and hazel eyes and he wore a red shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. there is a new survey that shows widespread support for governor brun's proposal to raise taxes on high income earners to help fund schools and reduce the budget deficit. 64% of voters surveyed say they support the measure. it would temporarily raise the state's sales tax. it would also increase income
