let's show you san anselmo creek. it's nowhere near a flood stage but we're certainly keeping an eye on it up here. parts. north bay are dealing with the aftermath from yesterday's big, windy storm. for example, in fairfax, at 7:00, a large oak tree came crashing down briefly trapping people. neighbors tell us that when the tree came crashing down, everyone in the neighborhood heard it and they describe it as a jet plane. >> i heard the sound was like a jet plane. i said what the bleep was that? i thought it was an earthquake. i looked out. the neighbors were on the street. the tree was on the ground. >> reporter: the neighbors say they all came out to see what was going on. they stay was like a

neighborhood block party. the tree crushed a car and took down some power lines. now what's left is the cleanup. we're also hearing reports that another tree came down in larkspur. nobody injured in this case. this is expected to impact some of the commutes. sal will have more on that. but we can tell you that highway 101 up in sonoma county is closed down. my photographer and i went up there and by the time we got up there, caltrans said it had been cleared. so now 101 up in sonoma county, clear for people traveling through the area. a lot of the roadways will be wet, not just here in the north bay but here in the bay area. we're live in san anselmo, christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. >> sal and steve are coming up for minutes with traffic and weather and you can -- for

traffic and weather in a few minutes. 7:04. well, grief counselors will be at a hayward middle school this morning after a 14-year-old student died yesterday. the student was an 8th grader at cesar chavez middle school. officials say he was playing basketball in a p.e. class when he hit his head and had a seizure. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. a student who was playing with a gun accidentally fired a shot inside a classroom at oakland high school. the "oakland tribune "said it happened at the end of the school day. luckily, nobody was hurt. but the bullet almost missed a student's leg. there's no word yet on any disciplinary action that will be taken against the student who brought the gun to school. the pleasanton unified school district has been hit

with fees charged to homeowners. some homeowners are claiming the district overcharged them for school impact fees and failed to grant them a refund. the state allocation board set the fees for new home construction. coming up at 7:15, our washington, d.c. reporter is out in front of the supreme court again this morning with the reaction inside and outbuilding the building. well, bikers and pedestrians on the golden gate bridge are gonna have to share the east sidewalk a lot longer than expected. a path improvement project was originally scheduled to be finished by april 1st but the date was pushed back to pay. a spokesperson for the bridge project say this is more labor- intensive than they thought. it's 7:06 and rain always
