the message participants are trying to send. alex? >> this is a group of about 200 students from schools across oakland and their supporters. they are all gathering here for a rally. many of them have made quite a sacrifice to bring attention to the issue of youth violence. they have been fasting, some of them for the last 74 days, taking turns. that fast, those ended here today in the park a short time ago with a feast. earlier on this morning, this group took their message to the streets. >> what do we want? >> peace. >> when do we want it? now. >> the group marched from a nearby school, the life academy down to the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station and ended here at the park. participants are young people "who" lives have been i am packed by gun violence. many of them say they have lost friends. students took turns fasting for a day at a time and started that relay fast as they called

there was trouble on the tracks in oakland early this morning. this was the scene near 4th street on jack london square. investigators say a confused driver took a wrong turn on those tracks and then just kept right on going. no one was hurt but the wrong turn briefly delayed one amtrak train on an overnight trip headed north. san leandro police say that a drunk driver was son for a crash that left people out power. a woman driving on washington avenue veered off the road and

see on 2. our investigation is raising some questions about oakland's 100 blocks plan. the city confirms that the police department has not devoted any special resources to the crime-fighting strategy. mayor gene kwan has also refused to pinpoint the exact blocks or whether there really are 100 of them. >> she has put out some graphics that show pretty clearly where they are. so, i'm not sure why she's keeping them confidential. i don't think they are a big secret, particularly to people who have lived in oakland for a while. >> reporter: oakland city leaders have provided this map highlighting general areas in the east and west parts of town. the mayor could not be reached for comment but her staff says that the 100 block plan will focus on coordination among various agencies and not just oakland police. despite vehement opposition, the oakland school board will close five elementary schools this june. >> just unacceptable.
