returned to oikos university today dressed in white suits and gloves, they methodically combed through the school looking for any evidence that will help investigators piece together the shooting rampage that left seven people dead and three wounded. while police gathered evidence, the district attorney was preparing formal challenges against goh the man that police called the biggest mass killer in alameda county history. but will goh face the capital punishment? >> the multiple murders does make him eligible for the capital punishment. >> reporter: will you seek it? >> he was disgruntled, he was upset because he was picked on. very distrout about the fact that he didn't speak very good english and people in the school, other students made fun of him.

>> reporter: investigators say goh planned the shooting for weeks, they said he had been expelled for the school and was looking for the administrator who was not there yesterday. >> he's been very cooperative for us. has not shown any remorse unfortunately, but has been very cooperative in terms of giving us details of what happened. >> reporter: witnesses say goh grabbed a secretary, brought her into a classroom, ordered students to line up then began firing. >> he had a dispute with the school about how much tuition he had paid and that that she was his target. >> reporter: goh is scheduled to make his first court appearance tomorrow. the issue on whether they will seek the death penalty is still months away. a memorial for all the victims is set tonight. this as we're learning the heartbreaking stories of one of the people killed in that shooting. she was a mother who's young son still doesn't know that she's dead. rita williams talked to her family today and told us about the voice mails the victim left

after she was shot, rita. >> reporter: that memorial begins here in just under an hour. of those seven victims only one of them worked at this school. kathelyn ping's brother opened his sister's home to the home that his sister helped buy and moved her family into, a few days before her father's birthday. >> reporter: i'm so sorry. >> it's all up to god. we've already forgiven him. >> i'm going to miss her but i need to face the truth. that she's gone. >> reporter: deeply religious, kathlyn's parents, two sisters and brototrs say they believe they have to love their enemy so they forgive the man accused

of killing their oldest child 24-year-old kathlyn ping who was the office secretary also going to school to become a nurse. >> she died shortly on the operating table, that's what the police said. >> reporter: i met her parents shortly after her parents were told she was dead. her 4-year-old child does not know his mother is gone. kathlyn's son's father does not know either. katlyn called the family four times and left voice mails while they were outside playing with her son. when they listened to them last

night, they realized she was dying. >> you can only hear like -- [grunting ], then nothing. >> reporter: her parents told me that kathlyn ping was the brain, heart, soul of this family. so they say in a way the gunman not only killed katlyn but the whole family. the alameda county coroner has confirmed they have identified the seven victims. at this point the office is only releasing six of those names to us. they are judith seymore of san jose, lydia sim of hayward, sonam choedon of el cerrito, kim of union city, chibuko.

the los altos hills. authorities say the call came in this morning. firefighters arrived to find the 2,000 square foot garage in flames. no one was home at the time, no injuried have been reported. at this hour a desperate search is still underway for a fisherman who fell off his boat. janine de la vega is there tonight and is telling us what the fisherman was wearing, and unfortunately what he did not have on. >> reporter: published reports say this man was from salinas he's 42 years olds and supposedly a father of two. it's been 10-1/2 hours since he was last seen on a commercial fishing boat that is named nani elaine, and it was based out here at monterey harbor. rescue crews say they are not giving up. >> reporter: a search stretching from the shoreline at moss landing to the ocean had crews from the coast guard and monterey fire and county busy today. a crew from a commercial fishing boat took off from the

harbor at moss landing to fish for black cod. >> i believe 12 miles west southwest of moss landing harbor they knew they could confirm for sure he was on board. that was the last time they had seen him and about a mile later they realized he was not on the boat. they searched the boat and confirmed he was no longer on board. >> reporter: the coast guard sent a helicopter to do air searchers and three of their boats saturated a 15-mile area west of moss landing. crews on the ground searched with binoculars and communicated closely with rescue boats. visibility was good but they are concerned about the length of time the fisherman was in the water. >> he was wearing rain gear, orange which is good for detention, but he was not wearing a life jacket unfortunately. >> reporter: they have a computer program that determines the survivability rate of someone who's been in the water that long and that will help the coast guard

decide when and if this will turn into a recovery effort. reporting live from monterey, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. while authorities are following up on tips and leads in the search for sierra lamar, community volunteers are reorganizer. they're planning the next big search for this saturday. they say so far much of the search has covered public land, they're now planning to search public property. the santa clara department also plans to send out its search team sometime this week. the fbi is starting its own investigation into the shooting of trayvon martin. officers ar -- are looking into the background of george zimmerman. they want to know if he was racially motivated when he call 911 to report martin as suspicious before he proceeded to pursue the unarmed teenager. zimmerman's attorney denies this is a case of racial

profiling. we're also getting a new enhanced look at surveillance video showing zimmerman the night he shot and killed martin. this video came out last week with zimmerman looking uninjured. but a newly enhanced version shows what could be a bump on his head. zimmerman claims that martin jumped him from behind, punched him in the nose then pounded his head into the sidewalk. at least two texas twisters left a path of devastation through the northern part of that state today. and we have pictured to share with you that were actually taken as the storm was happening. the video you see here was taken in dallas county, if you look closely in the middle of screen, you can actually see pieces of semi trucks being picked up and tossed by the strong wind. you also saw those flashes, those are power lines lines lurking at the storm. these are pictures again taken as the tornadoes was approaching glen heights. look on the center of the screen and you can see the

tornado right there with that characteristic funnel shape right behind the whataburger sign. that's ran castic south of dallas, the entire roof was ripped off. with this wider picture you can see an entire neighborhood was devastated people here just coming back into their home areas looking to see what if anything is left. we're beginning to hear from survivors two of whom road out the tornado in the closet of their home. >> my daughter got in the closet, then i started to get up, the next thing i know, when we opened the door, it was just a big disaster. >> amazing that we're still living. terrible, i got into the closet with my animals, thank god the kids were not at home today. >> reporter: we just showed you the devastation those two women made it out okay. but still hundreds of flights had to be ncelleat dallas

fort worth international airport. in fact, the spokeswoman there said airport employees said crews pulled the passenger away from windows as the storm blew through. rosemary orozco joining us tonight. >> you have to be to fort brag to see any accumulation. but that front we were expecting finally arriving. for most of us a quiet day, saw sunshine once again. temperatures back into the 50s. the north bay two to four degrees cooler today but the rest of the bay area very similar to yesterday. even slightly warmer in some cases. a closer look at where we're seeing per happening a little bit of rain. partly sunny and mostly dry is really what is being reported at these areas. it's coming off the coast here, this will continue to shift and

seven people dead, three others wounded. alex sadvige is live in alameda with more on that search. >> reporter: police say that gun has not yet been found. they believe the shooter likely discarded that handgun into the estuary. the coast guard was out searching the water and the shores. in the meantime we're learning more on what might have motivated the suspected shooter. a newly released booking photo of goh, the former student accused of opening fire on students and an employee at oikos university yesterday. according to authorities, goh was facing difficult times, his brother and mother died last year. the san francisco chronicle says goh was dealing with a list of debt including $23,000 in back taxes. he was living off an on with his father in this oakland

apartment building where neighbors recall seeing goh. >> i cannot even imagine what it's like especially for his family and the family of all the other people, it's just terrible. >> reporter: if alameda county sheriff's department tells me goh is in segregation now. he's cooperating with investigators and has told them he felt mistreated and disrespected by classmates. police say goh has been expeled from the small christian college and was targeting an administrator yesterday but that woman would wasn't -- woman wasn't at the school. meanwhile they're still searching for the murder weapon. they believe goh may have tossed it next to the water near the shooting scene. oakland police are getting help from across the bay. >> we have had san francisco police department respond with their marine unit, it's equipped with sonar, that sonar has searched the specific area of the water that the investigators have concentrated on. >> reporter: and a representative from the district attorney's office told

place. 14-miles-per-hour in livermore. san jose reporting 10 at this time. the winds will die down once this front passes through. if i back it up you can easily see the front. the passage will be out of here by late tonight and into tomorrow morning. behind it it's the chilly weather that will get us five to 10 degrees below normal is what we're expecting. it's 5:00 we're noticing just a few scattered showers. you have to get way north to see any real accumulation. we're talking just a few .01 by 6:00. the trough has to pass over california and it'll be until thursday before it finally moves in. for tomorrow we're going to be cooler. a mix of sun and clouds and we're going to leave the possibility of light scattered showers. meanwhile tomorrow morning a few degrees cooler than where we started this morning.
