searching again. this has been the headquarters for volunteer search efforts since she went missing three weeks ago. and alsod today where the family will announce a reward for information in her disappearance. and the announcement will be scheduled for 10:00 this morning. she has been missing since march 16 when she left to go to school that morning. last week the center was a hub of activity over the six-day period. more than 1,000 people came to the daily searches. they went through fields and trails. looking for clues in the disappearance. so far they found nothing of significance. and last week as they mentioned, we've got some extra help from the 49ers quarterback. he and his wife came to the search center to volunteer and today, they will be planning to come back and volunteer again along with the other 49 players. meanwhile santa clara sheriff's office continued their own

search efforts. earlier this week they focused on these areas. they say that they will be investigating the teen's disappearance as a likely abduction. they have received about 1,000 tips, but so far no credible leads to go on. but the volunteer search efforts will continue today. you're looking at the front door of what they are calling the search center. the volunteer registration starts at 8:00 this morning. this is 85 road in morgan hill. anyone that would like to help can come down here. live in morgan hill, ktvu channel 2 new. in overnight news, they will be investigating a deadly crash that left the big rig tangled up near the bay area freeway. it happened last night at the 280/92 interchange. drivers called to report a light pole in the road. when officers arrived to check it out, they found that the big rig had hit it, before tangling off the side of the roads. >> the drivers will be allowing the speedways to strike the

guardrails. and also overturned the basement after having struck the light pole a number of the streets. >> and the driver of that big rig was found dead. it took firefighters a long time to get them out because of all the broken tree branches and the mangled metal. no other cars involved. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the trucker to veer off the road. they will be providing shelter for 11 people by a fire in san jose. flames were first spotted just after 11:00 last night. the fire was contained to an upstairs apartment, but the entire building sustained power damage and lost power. a 33-year-old man jumped out of his second-story window to escape the flames. fortunately he was not hurt. one of the people killed in the shooting will be laid to rest later this morning. last night hundreds of people attended a memorial shooting

for the 22 can-year-old nursing student, grace kim. she worked two jobs to pay for school and was close to graduating. her brother said he had an infectious personality. >> she was beautiful. she would correct you and say no, i'm gorgeous. >> grace kim will be laid to rest at the chapel of the cemetery in hayward. the family and friends of another shooting victim are asking the obama administration for help. they want to bring the body back to his native india. they say a relative has come to the bay area to work with the indian consulate to take their remains home. police say that the 38-year-old student was outside the school when a gunman shot him in the head and stole his car. and the seven people killed in the mass shooting were remembered last night at the oakland coliseum. a moment of silence was held before the first pitch of the

oakland a's home opener. the dean of oikos university says that one goh was on campus because of a dispute. he was arrested at the safeway on monday in alameda shortly after the shooting. it also shows you where police recovered the gun they believed was used in the attack. that was made after the exhaustive search yesterday morning. a weapon was found at low tide in a stream that flows less than a mile from the school. the serial numbers of the weapon matched a .45 caliber handgun he bought last february. a passer-by alerted police after finding the gun clip in that same spot on thursday night. >> students are in an environment that is free from violence. we can hope there will be no

on fire. the airplane experienced a catastrophic malfunction. one of the men were admitted to the hospital while five people on the ground were treated for minor injuries. >> i lost everything. we don't have renter's insurance. my little baby can't even have a home. it just broke off. the flames and everything. >> just in the last couple of hours, they announced the search was over. the last three people have now been accounted for and it appears that there were no fatalities. in the next half hour, we'll go live to virginia beach as investigators piece together what is left of that fiter jet to try to determine -- fighter jet to try to determine the cause of the fiery crash. for the third time in less than two weeks, someone driving a vehicle became stuck on the train tracks in oakland

overnight. this is the scene near jacqueline square. the driver of the suv told us she was headed home following her gps when somehow she made a wrong turn. >> something needs to be done because i think when you go in, you can't go out. >> police don't think that the woman was intoxicated. it did take a tow truck about 30 minutes to get the suv off the tracks. just last night a similar situation happened near jefferson street and that driver also told us that he was following his gps. well certainly easter weekend, so we'll have the outdoor plans. and rosemary is following all the weather changes for us. we know it's cold. is it going to warm up? >> we will be warmer than yesterday. this morning we were off to ad cold start. anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees above where we started yesterday morning. so now there it is. a live look outside the doors. the sun has been out for about 25 minutes or so. we'll slowly begin to see the numbers turn around. usually the coldest areas around sunrise. take a look at the view.

picture perfect this morning. concordat 36 and napa right around this area reporting 30 degrees this morning. so yes, it will be a cold one. the areas near the park here in the 30s. 41 mountainview and san jose and mid-40s oakland as well. satellite radar. a view from up above. just a few high clouds are passing by. the abundant sunshine is expected with the warmer conditions. this is the system we have been tracking for the last few days. and it looks like as it progresses can closer to the coast that it will stall and slow down enough for the easter sunday to be dry. we were looking at the possibility of a few scatteredded showers over the north bay. now it looks like we'll remain with dry conditions. take a look at saturday morning for you. again, we are just dealing with the few high clouds on out there today. and tomorrow morning, we'll wake up. the system is still offshore. we'll progress through the afternoon. it is now 5:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon hours. you can see over the north bay,

we've got the high clouds. but the rain is still mostly offshore for you. eventually we'll bring you the scattered showers. but for today and tomorrow, a cold morning. a little warmer for the afternoon. temperatures in the upper 50s to the mid upper 60s for the afternoon. perhaps even the 70-degree weather for the couple spots by the end of the day. 66 in santa rosa today. 63 san francisco. mid-60s expected in oakland. 68 for this area. looking at 69 in livermore. 68 morgan hill and san jose and 67 degrees this afternoon. your extended forecast is right here. slightly warmer for some areas, even tomorrow, the north bay at the high clouds rolling it be many sooner than later. you could see the temperatures similar to today and slightly cooler. but again the rain will hold off for you. it looks like until at least monday. and take a look at monday. that's going to open up the doors to scattered showers in the forecast on monday, it looks like rain on tuesday and a chance for showers that will remain in the forecast on wednesday with numbers falling back into the low 60s.

newt gingrich and ron paul all vowed to stay in the race. earlier this week rick santorum met with a rival. meeting with governor rick perry. it's not clear what they discussed during their meeting and perry has backed up newt gingrich. however, several reports say santorum is trying to get texas to make the upcoming primary winner take all, which will give him 152 delegates. oil and gas production might have had a sharp increase due to earthquakes in the midwest. the rate of quakes in the midwest has jumped six folds in the past 16 years with a sharper rise from 2009 to 2011. researchers said the timing and geographies suggest a link to oil and gas production. officials in ohio recently said earthquakes that have caused the daniel you see here, probably -- damage you see here probably resulted from the gas drilling and the waste water into the earth. the nuclear power plant it in southern california, they will

remain offline until they determine why tubes are out here in the generators. they were shut down more than two months ago when the problem was discovered. officials warned that it could lead to the rolling blackouts in the service areas. a modesto high school teacher who left their family and their jobs to move in with a former student is now in jail. the 41-year-old was arrested yesterday for aledly having sex with another teenager 14 years ago. the girl was only 17 years old at the time. now, hooker first came under scrutiny back on february when he moved in with a former student. the 18-year-old jordan powers. the girl's mother said when they heard the news, she packed up and moved out of hooker's apartment. >> she's out. she's out. and away from him. and that's over. there's a finale and they are going to leave the state for a while. and they will try to regroup and get a handle on this. >> and police have been investigating hooker for their

relationship with powers, both remained the legal age. the alleged rape victim will remain in juvenile hall for at least another week. the sacramento judge, they named that ruling yesterday. and the 17-year-old girl is being held on the material witness warrant to ensure that she testifies against the man accused of raping her. prosecutors say that the girl is a foster child, with a history of running away and they want to make sure that she takes the stand. >> it is a very dangerous man on out there. we believe him to be a serial rapist. and we're doing what we have to do. >> she is being revictimized by being held in custody, forced to deal with the situation every day, where she is being treated very badly. >> the teenager will remain in custody until the next hearing on april 16. the trial is scheduled to start later this month. there is a new law in florida inspired with the death of the 2-year-old caylee anthony. it increases the maximum prison time from a year to five years

for lying to police about a missing child. caylee's mother, casey anthony was acquitted last year of murdering her daughter, but convicted on four counts of lying to investigators. she was sentenced to a four- year prison term. she could have gotten 20 years if this bill had been in effect at the time. the dea is reportedly investigating walgreens stores in florida. the wall street journal reports that the drug agents searched the store while investigating prescription pain pill abuse. they looked to see if walgreens allowed a large number of the pain pill sales which might be going to drug dealers and addicts. they are cooperating with the deo. hundreds of san francisco kids will be springing into action today. the difference they are trying to make. and the walls were coming alive in one florida man's house. the thousands of insects found inside and what the homeowner may now have to do about it. mostly sunny skies and warmer weather filling into the bay area for your weekend. we'll take a look at those

a bee infestation may have a florida man tear down his walls. bees were living in two hives behind the living room wall. they invaded the place about six months ago and have already stung the homeowner nine times. >> i looked outside and saw the bees coming in, going out, coming in, going out. it's terrible. i mean at 4:00, 5:00 in the afternoon, they are swarming on outside the house. they caused the bees to form a new hive. insects love walls because they normally don't get wet and there aren't any pests to bother them. well there are easter egg hunts all over the weekend. we want to give you a sampling

of the fun-filled event. they are starting at 9:00 this morning and san francisco, the recreation parks department, hosting a free event at 11:00 a.m. in the golden gate park. and then at noon in oakland, they willed hold a great easter egg hunt. and then at 11:00 tomorrow morning, children are invited to an easter surprise at the farmer's market in san jose. >> and you can bet that there will be a lot of candy and the other goodies. the survey shows that americans, they will spend about $2.1 billion on easter candy this year. that's 120 million pounds. there are 16 billion jelly beans and 90 million chocolate bunnies. >> are they addictive? i feel like they are. >> yes, scientific proven. there are a lot of easter egg hunts today. we'll check in for the weather and how are you looking? >> well, we are looking good. that 9:00 hour in danville will be a chilly one.

another volunteer search for the missing teenager, sierra lamar will be held in about half an hour. we want to give you a live look inside the volunteer search center in morgan hill. the 49er's quarterback, alex smith and his wife, elizabeth, will once again participate. other 49ers players will be there as well. if you would like to help, you can meet at the fine search center. that's at 85 tilton road in morgan road. as we reported earlier at our newscast. everyone in the apartment complex where the fighter been it appears that no one was killed in that crash. and they are live for us this morning in virginia beach as investigators, they will look for answers as to why the faa team went down, peter? >> mike, that's right. it looked like hell on earth here today. they said it was an act of divine providence that no one was killed in the complex behind me on good friday. now the search and rescue mission will be over because as you said, they have accounted for everybody that they know of

who lives there. that means they are now 95% sure that there were no fatalities. but they are not yet sure. here's why. >> we have accounted for everybody on the apartment manifesto. we can't give you 100% clear because we don't know if it has been guessed that the family members will be there. but nobody has been, you know, we have no reports of any missing people at this time. >> reporter: and the video is breathtaking. the numbers are staggering. 64 apartments, according to the apartment manager were burned and 42 of them weredisplaced. 52 people are displaced. some of them will meet with the navy jaguars to start talking about initial insurance claims. 26 of those from the apartment complex here did spend the night at a local elementary school acting as a temporary shelter. the fire department is going to try to start helping residents get into apartments that were not destroyed to get things like medication that will help

them get through the day and the daily routine until they are allowed to get back in. and they are used to the low- flying aircraft. the base is only two miles away, but they all knew that something was not right here. even though all these apartments and many vehicles on the ground were destroyed. thankfully no fatalities. we are told that the pilots here did the right thing by getting as much fuel as they could and then got out of the plane. i spoke to some that own the apartments. it appears to be the younger of the two pilots. two pilots were on board. the experienced training pilot and someone who is learning how to fly one of these planes that it appeared to be the younger guy. apologizing, saying all he could say was i'm so sorry for crashing a plane into your house, mike? >> thank you. the crash in virginia is a reminder of a deadly jet crash right here in california. four years ago, an f-14 slammed

into a san diego home killing a mother and her two young daughters. in that case, they blamed the crash on mechanical failure. but they also admitted that the pilot made a series of mistakes. the woman's family sued the military for wrongful death and was awarded $18 million for damages and emotional disstress. a pilot from sonoma county is accused of flying drunk. he will not be allowed to fly anymore. the chp pilots arrested the 62- year-old man in january after failing a sobriety test. they took notice of him when they spotted his plane flying erratically near the race way. this week, he was ordered to turn in his pilot's license. he could be fined more than $1,000 per day if he failed to do so. a house fire in hayward has left three people homeless. firefighters brought the fire on the court under control quickly, but not before it gutted the homes. two firefighters were burned slightly, but they went back to fighting the fire. the red cross is helping the

two adults and teenagers that live there. fremont police are calling this man a possible suspect for the first homicide of the year. described an african-american man in his 20s. officers say that they located a man with gunshot wounds late thursday night. the 20-year-old victim was found on the driveway of chateau central apartments on central -- center apartments on central avenue. some neighbors said they came out of their homes after hearing the gunfire. for >> we all walked over here and we would see the guy on the ground. i tried to help him out, but it was already too late. >> some people say that the neighborhood has seen their share of stabbings and shootings over the years. one says that the recent homicide is motivating him to move to another neighborhood. now the garden angels will step up the patrols in fairfield. the group says that they are doing this in response to several homicides in that area,

including the recent stabbing death of the 19-year-old. and they said yesterday that they will plan to begin patrolling late this morning at the avenue here. oakster dam university will hold their final classes today. the oakland trade school that taught 15,000 students about growing marijuana. they are now virtually empty. on monday morning, mornings on 2 was first here to report that the raid by federal agents were on four oakster dam facilities. seizing the bank account records and the computers, after battling the federal government for more than 20 years. now, the founder, richard lee, he says that he has had enough. >> and i am just, you know, one small soldier in a big war. it's time for other people to pick up the fragments and to take over. >> now lee says that the federal raid, they have bankrupted him. he believes that it may have been government reto bruce for the support of the proposition that would have legalized pot

for all adults. lee says he will now focus soully on the advocacy work. the san francisco sheriff choked back tears while professing his love for his family. he went to court yesterday about domestic violence and parenting classes. afterwards he talked to reporters about how painful it is dealing with a court order, preventing them from seeing his wife and their son, theo. >> i miss him terribly. i want them to be okay. the city should never, i'm sorry. i mean make anybody feel uninvited. the mayor's wife has taken their son to venezuela to see her sick father. she wrote a piece in yesterday's san francisco chronicals, telling him to stay strong and know that she and theo are constantly thinking about them. some protesters are demanding that they admit more

minority students. about 20 students from uc berkeley and area high schools as well as activists from the group by any means necessary, staged a sit-in yesterday at the uc berkeley's office. organizers say minority students comprise of about 50% of the state's high school graduates, but they make up only about 18% of the uc berkeley freshman class. >> there is nothing that could excuse the turnout that we have and the demographics of the campus. it just couldn't be stood for. i mean this is the year 2012. >> the protest will come after the federal appeal's court on monday rejected a challenge to proposition 209. the voter approved banned on the affirmative action. parents and students from oakland santa fe elementary school have filed a lawsuit to keep their schools open. this is video from a week ago when 10 people were arrested, following the contentious school board meeting about the closure of five oakland schools. the suit argues that closing

santa fe will violate the rights of african american students to get the education. and the attorneys, they also say that the board would be wasting the public money that has been spent on recent improvements. the bicyclist that hit and killed a 71-year-old man in san francisco is defending the actions. now through his lawyer, he believes that he entered the intersection of market lawfulfully and that he did everything possible to avoid the accident. and the district attorney's office is looking into which they described the accident in details. they are still considering whether or not to file charges. the faa is now investigating how the experienced sky diver from the county died. 71-year-old william calhoun of nevada was killed thursday during a jump in san joaquin county. witnesses said his shoot gotting tangled. the owner of the parachute center says it seems like calhoun's parachute opened prematurely and he did not appear to make any attempt to release it or activate his

reserve parachute. they will review the chute's log and packing card. the san joaquin coroner's office is also investigating. time to grab the fishing poles and some lemon and garlic. salmon season starts today. it's the first full salmon season in three years. the boat captain says that the initial survey show almost no fishing in three years. they suggest that the salmon population rebound. >> and yes, it should be a great year, but you know we are very superstitious. we don't like to say anything until after it happens. >> my heart is going a mile a minute and i'm waiting for the big surprises here of salmon to get on the lines to go zoom and touch them. they will become the salmon fishing boats soon. the fish counts are so high that it has been extended until

november 11. >> all right, your time is 7:39. people are headed outside for the big easter weekend. we've got the egg hunts everywhere. yes, now you can watch them and do everything for us. telling us that it will be staying dry. >> yes, good morning to you. a good looking day. over the land and the waters if you will be out and doing some fishing. now, we've got the light winds stored for you. more sunshine and we're looking at just a few high clouds that will be passing overhead. this is associated with the storms that will remain offshore. at least the rain will remain offshore. take a look at how chilly it is. 30 degrees. i'll drop to the bottom here. they are at 35. 36 at walnut creek and right around the city as well as oakland and the mid-40s. that is just outside the bay area. we're looking at widespread lows. a few degrees warmer than yesterday and still a little cold out there if you are getting outdoors early. satellite radar, this is the system i was telling you just a moment ago. we've got the light rain that will fall over the california oregon border today and it will begin to slide south.

but the models, they are now showing that it will hold off for easter sunday. take a look at what happens here. it's saturday morning and the high clouds, especially over the north bay. we're seeing it. we'll continue to see the high clouds pass it in and out and on sunday morning, we'll wake up. i've got to come to this side of the screen because take a look at the rain. it has not moved. it will continue to sit here stationary, all of sunday, and we will see an increase of the clouds over the north bay and the south bay. we'll be looking at fair skies for you and temperatures are even warmer in some cases. for today, upper 5:s to the low to mid-60s. right around the coastline. it will be warmer for you and areas like livermore and the upper 60s to san jose for the north bay. increasing high clouds that will remain mostly sunny for you and south of i-80 for tomorrow. but again, no rain in the forecast. the models, they have trended back on that and we will eventually get it and we could use it. but for sunday, it will be dry. and 64 in oakland and san francisco today and the mid-60s

administration for help. is they want to bring the body back to the native india. and the indian website says that they have come to the bay area to work with the indian consulate to take the remains home. police say that the 38-year-old student was outside the school when the gunman shot him in the head and then stole the car. the dean of oikos university says that the suspect one goh was on campus on monday because of a tuition dispute, but never had shown any signs of violence. take a look at this map. it shows you where goh was arrested. it also shows you where police recovered the gun that they believe was used in the attack. the weapon was found early yesterday morning at low tide and in a stream that flows into the bay less than a mile from the school. police say that the serial in your opinions of the weapon matched a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun goh bought last february. a passer-by alerted police after finding a gun clip in the same spot on thursday night.

her way to catch the bus. since then there have been several volunteer search parties like the ones happening this morning. organizers are expecting a big crowd today. as many as 1,000 people, looking to volunteer to help find clues for the disappearance. they say that they have organized the assignments for up to 1,000 people to head out and comb through the fields and the trails and neighborhoods near her home. they said they did not want to talk on camera that this is not about them. so we asked the organizers, why he thinks that the big name celebrities are helping out today. to people that might not have

the oakland trade school that taught 15,000 students about growing marijuana is now virtually empty. on monday morning, they were the first to report the raid by the federal agents on four oakster dam university. they received computers after battling the federal government for more than 20 years. the founder richard lee says he has had enough. i'm just one small soldier in a big war. it's time for other people to pick up the fragments and take over. >> lee says that the federal raid has bankrupted him. he believes it may have been the government reto bruce for his support of california's proposition 19 that would have legalized pot for all adults. lee says he will now focus soully on the advocacy work. some protesters are demanding that uc berkeley admit more minority students.

students to get antic table education. and the attorneys, they all say that the board would be wasting public money spent on recent improvements. a southern california school where students were pepper sprayed is trying to make amends. students were protesting cuts on tuesday night. they became irate when they were prevented from entering the trustee's meeting to discuss the sea hikes. the video posted on youtube will show them screaming after getting pepper sprayed. the school board has now voted unanimously to postpone the tuition increases. fees for the most popular courses, they were going to quadruple. >> that killed the 71-year-old man and they will be defending their had actions through their lawyer. he said that he believes that he entered the intersection of marketing them lawfully. and that he did everything possible to avoid the accident. and the district attorney's office will be looking into the

online post in which he describes the accident in detail. they are still considering whether or not to file charges. a sonoma county pilot accused of flying drunk is losing his flying license. chp pilots arrested the 62-year- old in january after he failed the sobriety test at the airport. they took notice of him when they spotted his plane flying erratically near the raceway. and this week, he was ordered to turn in his pilot's license. he could with fined more than $1,000 per day if he fails to do so. the faa is investigating how the experienced sky diver from the county died. the 71-year-old was killed thursday during the jump in san joaquin county. witnesses say that his chute got tangled. the owner of the parachute center says it seems like calhoun's parachute opened prematurely and he did not make an attempt to release it or activate his parachute.

[ laughter ] >> grace kim will be laid to rest at the chapel of time cemetery in hayward. the family and friends of another shooting victim are asking the obama administration for help. they want to bring the body of

their son back to his native india. an indian website says a relative from los angeles has come to the bay area to work with the consulate to take his remains home. the 38-year-old student was outside the school when the gunman shot him in the head, then stole his car. the dean of oikos university says the suspect, one goh was on campus because of tuition dispute, but had never shown any signs of violence. take a look at this map. it shows where goh was arrested monday at an alameda safeway shortly after the shooting. it also shows where police recovered the gun they say they believe was used in that attack. the weapon was found early yesterday morning at low tide in a stream that flows into san leandro bay, less than a mile from the school. the serial numbers of the weapon match a .45 caliber semi automatic handgun goh bought last february. a passer-by alerted police after finding a gun clip in the same spot thursday night. >> students deserve an

flames were spotted just after 7:00 last night at payne avenue and santo mass parkway. the fire was contained to an apartment building, but the entire building lost power. a man jumped out of his second story window to escape flames. fortunately, he was not hurt. a stockton police officer used deadly force on a man who reportedly attacked his partner last night. investigators say the officer-involved shooting on burlington place started with a traffic stop. when two officers pulled over a car, the driver got out and started to run. when they caught up with him, police say the driver took one of the officers' batons and hit him with it. the other officer shot the suspect. both officers are on paid administrative leave. w information this morning regarding the military jet crash in virginia. an fa-18 crash in an area surrounded by apartments. coming up at 9:15, hear from a good samaritan who rushed into the burning wreckage to pull one of the pilots to safety.

. good morning to you. a live look at the bay bridge. light winds across the bridge this morning. just a glorious start to the morning. . well, we learned this morning fire officials in virginia have accounted for everyone who lived at the apartment complex, where a navy fighter jet crashed. the pilots ejected before the impact and as rene marsh reports, a neighbor rushed to help out one of those pilots. >> shortly after take-off, initial indications are that that aircraft suffered a catastrophic mechanical malfunction. >> it shook the ground when it hit. initially, everyone was running to the scene and there was a couple large explosions and then within seconds, everyone was fleeing from the scene. >> reporter: several apartment buildings in virginia beach, virginia were left smoldering after an fa-18 fighter jet crashed. the navy says the two-person crew ejected before impact. a navy deputy spoke about their

despite the odds, rick santorum, newt gingrich, and ron paul have all vowed to stay in the race. earlier this week, rick santorum met with a former rival. cnn reports the former pennsylvania senator met with texas governor rick perry. it's not clear what santorum and perry discussed during their meeting, and perry has already backed newt gingrich. however, several reports say santorum is trying to get texas to make its upcoming primary winner-take-all, which could give him 152 gel dates. governor brown is turning to robotic phone calls and mailers to get enough signatures for his november tax initiative. the sacramento bee reports the governor's recorded phone call is going out to more than 1 million households across the state. and the mailer shows the governor with children with the headline, "sign up to save our schools." the governor needs 100,000 signatures to get his tax initiative on november's ballot. the deadline is next month. the june 5th primary here in california is still two months away, but the ballots are

already on their way to california voters overseas. county election officials across the state started sending out ballots to those serving in the armed forces or temporarily living abroad. that way, they will have enough time to review the ballots and get them back to their county election offices by election day. senator diane feinstein will likely not be able to replace the millions of dollars of campaign contributions allegedly embezzled by her treasure, accused of taking $4.5 million from feinstein. the senator is asking the federal election commission to allow her to replace that money with new contributions from her original donors. but a draft opinion rejected the request, saying it would exceed the amount of money each donor is allowed to contribute. the final vote is expected on thursday. other america's longest running car show is now open in manhattan and it's bigger than ever. the new york international auto show features more than 1000 new vehicles, showcasing the work of 43 different manufacturers.

of their homes after hearing the gunfire. >> we all walked over here and see the guy on the ground and i tried to help him out. but it was already too late. >> some folks say the neighborhood has seen its share of stabbings and shootings over the years. one resident says the recent homicide is motivating him to move to another neighborhood. a house fire in hayward has left three people looking for a new place to live. it happened just before 5:00 p.m. yesterday. firefighters brought the fire on patricia court under control pretty quickly, but not before it gutted the home. two firefighters were burned, but slightly. they actually went right back to fighting the fire. the red cross is helping the adult and two teenagers who lived inside the home. the cause is under investigation. oakster dam university will hold final classes today. the oakland trade school that taught 15,000 students with growing marijuana is now virtually empty. on monday morning, mornings on 2 was first to report this raid by federal agents on four of their facilities.

or not to file charges. the faa is investigating how an experienced sky diver from marin county died. 71-year-old william calhoun of nevada was killed thursday during a jump near lodi in san joaquin county. witnesses say his chute tangled. the owner of the lodi parachute center says it seems calhoun's parachute opened prematurely and he did not appear to make any attempt to release it and activate his reserve parachute. the faa says it will review the chute's log and packing card. the san joaquin county sheriff's office is also investigating. pilot from sonoma county accused of flying drunk will not be able to fly anymore. highway patrol pilots arrested 62-year-old michael ferrero in january after he failed a sobriety test at the petaluma airport. they took notice of him when they spotted his plane flying erratically near infineon raceway. this week, ferrero was ordered to turn in his pilots license. he could be fined more than $1000 per day if he fails to do

14 years ago. police say the girl was only 17 years old at the time. hooker first came under scrutiny back in february when he moved in with the former student, 18-year-old jordan powers. the girl's mother says when jordan heard this news, she packed up and moved out of hooker's apartment. >> she's out. she's out, and away from him, and that's over. there's a finality, and she's going to leave the state for a while and try to regroup and get a handle on this. >> police have also been investigating hooker for his relationship with powers, but both have maintained that there was no sexual contact between them before she turned 18. an alleged rape victim will remain in juvenile hall for at least another week. a sacramento judge made that ruling yesterday. the 17-year-old girl has been in juvenile hall for the past two weeks after she failed to appear in court to testify against the man accused of raping her. prosecutors say the girl is a foster child with a history of

. time for a look at local drive time traffic. traffic moving along just fine in both directions of 24. moving over to the bay bridge, let's check out the situation there. there's the upper and lower deck of the bay bridge. people getting into and out of the city just fine this morning. however, we do have breaking news we are following for you. four people have been hit by a car at treat boulevard and oak grove road in concord. we are just finding out about this. we got a crew on the way. but the car also hit a fire hydrant and building. we'll have the latest information for you at ktvu.com and of course tonight on ktvu channel 2news at 6:00. the giants would like to bounce back today from an opening day loss to the arizona

dime backs. it was a rough start for tim lincecum who gave up two 1st inning homeruns to give the d-backs an early lead. in the 5th inning, cabrera cut arizona's lead to one with a shot to right field. giants tied the game in the top of the 6th, but the tie was broken quickly by ryan roberts and his two-run double. in the 9th inning, pablo sandoval pulled the giants to within a run with a double to left center, but buster posey grounded out to end the game with a runner in scoring position. diamondbacks win 5-4. same two teams will play this afternoon, right here on ktvu. coverage starts at 12:30. an estimated 5000 fans showed up at at&t park to watch the first game of the season for free on the big screen at the park. aside from watching the game, fans were also allowed to roam the stadium, even go into the dugout, as well as on the infield dirt and warning track. the giants' home opener is next friday against the pittsburgh pirates. across the bay, a sell-out crowd. watch the a's and mariners in

their state side opener, more than a week after officially opening the season in japan. the mariners jumped on starter brandon mccarthy early, building a 5-run lead by the 4th inning. this monster homerun in the 4th inning provided the lone highlight. the a's went down to the mariners 7-3. final game of their two-continent series is tonight at 6:05. let's check on the weather with rosemary. >> nice, about 60 degrees at game time, slipping back into the 50s. so it's going to be cool by the end of the evening. for today, our numbers are going to be warmer than yesterday. still a cool start out there this morning. 40s to near 50 degrees, and then we're looking at 50s to mid-60s right around the coast and bay. mid to upper 60s in land for today, even warmer for tomorrow. and that storm we were worried about bringing us rain to the north bay for tomorrow looks like it's going to hold off and we'll be mainly dry for the weekend. wet heading into next week.
