moves well. it's 4:30 let's go back to the desk. we begin with a deadly overnight accident in oakland. police are questioning an suv driver that struck and killed two bicyclists. the distraught suv driver was seen walking around in her robe while they took pictures of the accident scene. it's not clear what lead up to that crash. a memorial is growing in concord where a man and his driver were hit by a speeding car. alex savidge is at the scene where a candle light vigil was held in their honor. >> you can see all the flowers own the candles resting at this memorial. this is the scene of the deadly crash where the father and daughter were both killed during a week bike ride. >> he loved his daughter. he loved kids period. >> reporter: last night a couple hundred people turned out for a vigil to honor

soliaman nuri and nine-year-old daughter. they were hit and killed by an out of control suv that jumped the curb here. these are new photos of the two victims in nuri was a soccer coach. his daughter was a local girl scout. it was more than just the afghan community that showed their support for the family. >> i think it means a lot for the family that nonafghans care about what happened here. and care about the tragedy. i think it's a very beautiful sign. >> reporter: concord police arrested the 17-year-old boy that was driving that suv. they are checking that boy's cell phone records to figure out if he was on the cell phone and driving at the time of the accident saturday morning. we are live this morning in concord alex savidge.

police in san francisco are investigating two separate accidents along the embarcadero that sent eight people to the hospital. they both happened around 7:30 yesterday morning. one crash was at the embarcadero and brandon street. plus say a drunk driver and speeding suv crashed into a car and struck another. >> i've never heard such a loud crash before. and then i heard this scream. >> the second crash was near harrison street. the driver of a red car made an illegal left turn. there were three injuries in that accident. five in the other street at brandon street. a 73-year-old man is dead after a crash on a south bay highway. he lost control of his car on interstate 280 in san jose.

the man skidded on an embankment and hit a tree. he was pronounced dead at the scene. police have ruled out alcohol as a factor in that crash. someone has been tagging san francisco homes with racist graffiti. the san francisco examiner reports the n-word was spray painted on several homes near 23rd avenue and lincoln street in the sunset district. the homes were vandalized sunday morning. police say only a few homes were effected and they are investigating. one week has passed since that deadly mass shooting at that oisok university. a memorial sits outside the school. it includes a poster an a prayer and seven easter baskets. members of a korean church laid flowers at the memorial. meanwhile the sermon focused on both the shooting and the responsibility some congregation members say they feel. suspect juan go is a u.s. citizen of korean heritage. >> they live around here and we

are all korean-americans. i'm sure there is a few korean church members that know the family directly or indirectly. >> it's not clear yet when that school will reopen. two men accused of going on' shooting spree in oklahoma will be in court today. those men are charged with shooting five people and killing three of them. coming up in ten minutes what police are looking at as a motive. business owners are figure out their next steps following a devastating fire. that three alarm fire started in the back of elle cap tee owe restaurant early yesterday morning. it spread throughout the shopping center destroying the restaurant and several other businesses. >> i'm thinking about the neighbors. all the work. i feel sorry about all of them.

crashed. antioch police say alcohol may have been the football tour in a crash that injured four people. police say that car was apparently speeding when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and hit the tree. two people were taken to the hospital. their condition has been stabilized. activists will hold a press conference at uc berkeley this morning to demand that the alameda county district attorney drop charges against occupy cal protestors. students known as the spral 13 with charged with blocking access to the encampment. police say the arrests were selective and politically motived. today mount diablo school members will consider breaking a promise it made to voters over tax rates. board members will discuss raising the tax rates on the

soon. let's take a look at interstate 880 in oakland. nice drive passing the coliseum with no major problems. alsos morning commute looks good. the morning commute also looks good on northbound 280 getting up to highway 17 that traffic continues to look good all the way up into the valley. a very good morning. we have fair skies to the south. mostly cloudy to the north. very slow moving plotting system. once it gets here it will give us rain. it will be more likely tomorrow. 51 oakland. 50 in san francisco. a little cool toward napa but not that bad. 42-degree highs today. yellow indicates rain popping up. system is tapping into lower latitude moisture. and that as you know holds a

lot of moisture. a little pump from another system coming in. it will spread a lot of clouds and rain. could be some rain to the north but more likely it will be late tonight and tuesday into wednesday. increasing clouds but some sun. just a lot of high clouds and temperatures on the mild side to warm side with that south wind 60s to low 70s. temperatures will be very, very mild compared to last week. cloudy with rain moving into tuesday. that's when the temperature drops off the table. cool with between systems thursday and then friday. that looks like a cold system coming in rain and wind. it will clear out late saturday. sunday looking good. just a few hours from now an estimated 30,000 people will be on the south lawn of the white house for the annual easter egg roll. this is the 134th year of that easter egg roll. this year as part of first lady michelle obama's let's move campaign, there is also going to be huh la hooping, dancing,

a lot of clouds. partly sunny to the south. that rain band will hold off until late tonight and sweep over the area tomorrow. today very mild with upper 60s and low 70s. take a ok at that. the chp is searching for the driver that caused this messy scene early this morning. a run away pickup truck smashed into a fire hydrant sending water shooting into the air. the chp was the first on scene quickly followed by oakland firefighters and police. there are no reports of any injuries. >> the navy will help pay those effected by a jet crash.

they are going to be making payments today. compensation starts at $2300 but more will go to people with families. dozens of apartments were destroyed on friday when an fa18d hornet crashed into them. there were no fatalities. the jets engine system failed. two men akentuckied in several shootings in oklahoma will appear in court this morning. jake england and alvin watts shot five people early friday. three of them died. both suspects are white. the five victims are black. this morning we learned that england used a racial slur while blaming his father's death on a black man in a facebook post the day before the shootings. investigators say it's too early to jump to any conclusions. >> it's premature to talk about hate crimes. we have yet to analyze all the information to understand the

motivations. >> they do say revenge appears to be a factor. the arraignment is set for 7:00 a.m.. there is new concerns about north korea's military strength. piong yang is about to test a rocket. it's actually a cover to examine missile technology that could be used against the u.s.. now they say it has evidence north korea is preparing for a nuclear test. satellite photos show piles of dirt indicating she digging an under ground tunnel. help free nine miners trapped for four days in a copper mine. rescuers are able to communicate with the trapped miners and provide them with oxygen, food, and water all through a tube. crews have been working by hand loading rocks that are blocking the entrance. in marin county fairfax police are looking for anyone

that knows about home made bombs at a middle school. officers found four devices yesterday on a baseball field. three bombs were pressurized water bottles that have not exploded yet. a fourth bottle has partially rupture. the size and location indicate they were designed for noise rather than destruction. a jury will continue to deliberate today in the race discrimination case. jury deliberations began on friday. a day after attorneys finished their closing arguments. seven of richmond's top ranking african american police officers filed a civil suit back in 2007. they claimed police chief chris magnus and former deputy chief subjected them to racial harassment and discrimination. a verdict could come this week. republican presidential candidate newt gingrich is talking about his run for the white house in the past tense. he is not saying that he's ready to drop out but he admits

that front runner mitt romney is the most likely nominee. and he says his campaign is operating on a shoe string and more than $4 million in debt. >> it turned out to be much harder than i thought it to be. it was the right thing to do at that point. >> rick santorum is taking days off the campaign trail. he's staying at the side of his three-year-old daughter bella who is in the hospital. the next big contest is april 24th when five states will hold primaries including santorum's home state of pennsylvania. an east bay high school senior is claiming discrimination against uc bergly after the university denied her admission. held a demonstration with supporters yesterday on the cal campus. the high school student claims the university denied her admission because she is latino despite having a 4.30 grade point average. she is appealing that decision.

>> uc berkeley is significant to me. it would not only allow me to further my individual education but stand as a a part of the minority groups. >> members of the group say uc berkeley needs to double the number of blacks admitted to the university. a japanese newspaper reports sony will slash 10,000 jobs world-wide. that 6% of the entire work force. the consumer electronics and entertainment company has lost. sony estimates a loss of $2.7 billion this last fiscal year. gas prices may be leveling off. according to the latest lam berg surgical say. the national average price for a gallon of regular is $3.97. that is up four cents from two weeks ago which is the smallest increase since early january.

speaking it will be late tonight into tomorrow. our system needs a little umph and it won't get that until tomorrow. more clouds to the north and more sun to the south. temperatures starting off 40s and low 50s. napa airport the coolest at 42. temperatures today a lot of upper 60s to low 70s with that southerly breeze. now to the north it will be a little cooler. system is tapping into lower latitude moisture. once it gets going and sets up shop, partly sunny there. it just needs a little kick. and it will start to move in. the rainfall projection shows nothing. watch what happens on tuesday as that sweeps in here. tomorrow morning i think i will be talking about rain. it will continue through the afternoon tuesday evening and really stacks up late tuesday into wednesday. 1.25 for santa rosa. this system will start to move in. there will be another one behind that that comes in
