the roads. let's go to lorraine, what just happened? >> reporter: yes, it looks like a car may have slipped into a ditch just south of 13th street. chp got the call at about 5:19 and you can see there is a silver accord in the ditch. the driver luckily was not trapped but it looks like she may have minor injuries, it looks like she is bleeding from the nose but it does not look that serious. the injuries are not that serious although obviously it looks like a serious accident when you see it 10 feet down in the ditch there. a truck driver saw the taillights and he made the call, part of the right lane is closed on 101. you can see paramedics on scene right now but the good news,

through, here we are in marin southbound 101 traffic is moderately heavy and tough conditions in sonoma especially near highway 37. let's look at interstate 880, this traffic is looking good in oakland but a lot of standing water, let's go back to the desk. investigators are checking under water sonar i am mans as they continue to search for missing sierra lemar. if nothing turns up they may look at other waterways and in the meantime, a retired fbi agent who investigated the case of washington nationals is not -- case of natalee hollaway says he is not confident she

will be found alive. because she has been missing for almost a month now, she warns this may be the worst case scenario. now there is a new website dedicated to sierra lemar, find sierra lemar.com contains information about the case, photographs and also details about the continuing search for her. sierra lemar days period on march 16th as she was going to school. investigators again are now going over those underwater sonar images and again we will keep you posted in the latest information if more information comes out. the shooter in the trayvon martin case is expected to be heard today now that charges have been filed. george zimmerman arrived and covered his head as he came to turn himself in. a second charge against the

neighborhood watch volunteer and coming up in our next half hour, we will go live to florida with what is expected to happen in court today. an 11-year-old boy in concord is recovering after being hit by a car while riding his bike. a woman driving out of the apartment complex ran into him. neither of them was going fast when it happened. the boy had minor leg pain and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. in the meantime a father and daughter who were killed as they rode their bikes were laid to rest. this was 41-year-old solomon nouri and his daughter. they were hit when an suv jumped the curb and ran into them. the driver could be rearrested. and stressing the

importance of bicycle safety after a fatal hit-and-run crash there, jaun garcia was hit and killed yesterday morning while he rode his bike. since there were no witnesses, police say they need the help to drive the -- find the driver. they are hope to ride the bikes. the event isment to encourage physical activity and safe cycling. all we need is the weather to cooperate. >> traffic has been messy, sal, how is it looking right now? >> it is not looking good. we showed you earlier where the crash where lorraine was, we will let you see more pictures

coming up soon but first let's look at some of these maps. this is the bay bridge toll plaza. no major problems here but be careful if you drive across bay area bridges, a little bit windy and breezy, wind advisories may be taken down and that means you don't have to drive carefully. there at livermore avenue, traffic will be moving a long well. at livermore avenue, there is a crash 680 and now the rain has moved through. as steve said earlier good thing this storm came through when it was relatively quiet and i have moved the maps down. you can see how many incidents there are and a major northbound crash still involving a truck there.

at 6:07 let's go to steve. this system did not come by between 7:00 and 9:00 and it was the toughest driving within a year. this system giving us very heavy rain, most locations saying light rain so the system is finally moving off towards the east and san martin, gilroy and then wrapping up towards stockton and eastern contra coster county, sound fran -- san francisco picked up two thirds of an inch. heavier amounts up towards other areas. it looks like it is moving faster than this computer model can keep up. we are not done and there is

more instability coming in as the colder unstable weather comes in and by tonight we start to focus our attention to the north and northwest as the next piece of energy rotates and by tomorrow morning it could be moderate to heavy rain and things will start to improve as we go into the weekend. 40s and lower 50s on the temperatures, a little bit of a break into tonight but there is real active weather pattern and things will really pick up again. turning colder on friday wind and rain returns, we will have a mostly cloudy day, breezy and cool temperatures upper 50s many lower 60s and it looks like friday things come to a close here thanks fully. friday it will be a cold morning and saturday a little

bit warmer. you certainly don't see this everyday, that is tornado touching down in stockton. it is a bad boy, they confirmed it was an "f" 1, this touched down in french camp. but a tractor-trailer and a shed was destroyed. 1,500 of the runners came from outside of the bay area and they spent almost $200 a day on food and on retail sales. overall, the event contributed $300 million to the state economy and they donated as well to local charities. a special task force on the infamous pepper spraying uc

disappointed in her comments about ann romney, they were inappropriate and offensive. they start today in the criminal trial, and john edwards is accused of violating campaign lows and -- campain laws. the case is centering on payments made by two campaign donors to help hide the presidential mystery. edwards faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison if convicted. a woman is being held after a standoff with police. officers responded to an emergency call at the 1100 block of continental way. his wife was armed and suicidal. when police arrived, the woman was bleeding and threatening to shoot them with a rifle.

starts pacific time. we had that overturned car we had been telling you about, you saw lorraine with this car which flipped off the road near allan rock and ended up, upside down in this wet weather. chp always says collisions and crashes increase with wet weather and no doubt this played a role. we wanted to show you these pictures just to let you know what can happen if you are driving too fast for the conditions. 101 otherwise looks okay. let's look at the commute in livermore. east pound 580, remember we had a crash going the other way. it will block the lane for the

next hour and it is bad news as we move over to the commute on 680 and that's not all that bad. i want to show you some pictures of an oakland accident which happened 4:30. this pickup truck ended back on its wheels and there were two lanes blocked for a little while right before the 24 interchange. the calmer shell came on the pickup truck and they had to set flares down and head to get the driver and everything out of there. minor injuries only and the commute is now back to normal in this area. at 621, let's go to steve. >> it is not often you see something that intense. now most of this is cleared off east and south, they are still planning ongoing upstream. look at that one, it is lit up in orange and red.

that is the big news. another ban in the county and it continues to push into the santa clara valley also off to the big valley and off some of the freeways near 280 and here in mclaughlin, and in san francisco two-thirds of an inch, that fell about an hour and a half. 4 / 10th napa concord all a third of an inch. santa rosa had 44 / 100th and for the system that came by, it was really impressive and it was about a half inch per hour. it was kind of a little bit of a break and a lot has to go upstream and the rest is still developing. maybe about a quarter of an inch but the ref year rain

. now that the sun is coming up, the roads are dry compared to a few hours ago when we first started this broadcast and things look good up to the willow pass grade. one of the big projects this saturday will be at the park. 100 volunteers will be restoring the gold air mill. it was given to the park to help make those repairs. the volunteer list is full but you can still sign up for other

watsonville. as least for now, the damage is done as we say, right sal? yes, it is done and you and i were talking about how lucky we were that it hit when we first got off the air, it seems to have been raining cats and dogs. westbound traffic is moderately heavy but it is heavy in antioch though. as you move to oakland, those roads are clearly wet but it looks like the rain temporarily at least has stopped. we do have a storm watch on the way and lorraine blanco is at the scene of a crash in san jose, 0 lorraine, what do you have there? >> reporter: well, sal it looks like the wet weather may have been a factor and trucks are attempting to pull that car out of the ditch when we arrived on

the 101 south bay near 13th street and the car was 10 to 20- foot down in that ditch. they saw the car with the female driver inside and a paramedic tells me it is non- life threatening. they are shutting down to deal with the situation but now all lanes are only going southbound 101 near 13th street and traffic is moving smoothly out here. good news, the driver is okay but another reminder to drive cautiously out here give yourself some extra time on the roadways, even though it is not raining hard right now, there is police departmentelling and there is a chance -- there is puddling and there is a good chance more rain is on the way. reporting live lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> you can get all the details

sent straight to your handheld device. police in fairfield are investigating a deadly shooting. this handed out side a bar not far from travis air force base. they just spoke to police, alex what are they saying? >> reporter: and in fact the shooting scene is across the street from travis air force base but they don't believe anybody from the base was involved. it handed out side of a bar last night and an argument inside the bar is what started it all and now investigators are looking at surveillance videos to see what happened. gunfire broke out and police tell me two men were both shot in the head. a man died at the scene and a 31-year-old fairfield man is stable at northfield medical center. homicide detectives worked into the night collecting evidence

and upper viewing witnesses as they watched the fight escalate to a shooting. >> any time somebody opens fire it is subject to hitting anybody else specially by standers. this was a conflict between two groups and the people shot were the intended victims or part of the fight that ensued outside. >> and police are now ready to give out the names of those two men who were shot. again one died and the other is alive and expected to survive. they tell me they have leads in the search for the shooter but at this point they are not ready to release any sort of a description. live in fairfield, alex savage, ktvu channel 2 morning news. we got information about a shooting in oakland. two men were hit 9:00 last night and the gunfire now appears to be connected to another shooting a couple of

blocks away. nobody was hurt in that earlier gunfire and the two victims drove themselves to the hospital and they are expected to be released today. police continue to search for suspects. the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot trayvon martin has been charged with charges more than six weeks after the shooting. joining us live where george zimmerman is set to make his first court appearance today, renee? >> reporter: yes, good morning, george zimmerman is waking up behind bars this morning here in sanford florida and he is expected to be in court for that first appearance. again he is charged with second- degree murder and as we all know he went into hiding for some 45 days but he emerged yesterday and turned himself in to police yesterday and was

taken here to the seminal county jail. let's talk about this hearing that is expected to happen later this afternoon. we are hearing george zimmerman's attorney will ask the judge to grant him bond because as we speak, george zimmerman is behind bars and he does not have bond but his attorney will have to make the case that his client is not a flight risk and should be granted a reasonable bond. all along george zimmerman has maintained that he acted in self-defense of the killing of trayvon martin. let's talk about this second- degree murder charge. it carries a minimum of 25 years, a maximum of life behind bars if this does go to trial and he is found guilty. back to you. renee marsh reporting live thanks so much for that report. and on www.ktvu.com, we have posted a timeline of events of the trayvon martin coverage,

noah's arc out there but now it is better. this is an overturned vehicle and weather was not believed to be a factor in this crash because it was raining hard just before it started a car flipped over near the seminary exit. now the car had slammed into the center divider and the driver ran away before police arrived. the female passenger was hurt. >> you know lovely beautiful cameron on the desk there. worst driving ever she said. >> worst driving ever? >> yes. nodding her head. she said it was brutal coming in. at least the main front has come through. heavy duty and this will be blasting into the sierra, you just have to wait for it to go

through. also cleared the santa clara valley. now heading back over to concord, lafayette, there comes another little ban, out towards crocket and venetia, and two thirds of an inch, that fell about an hour and a half and that's an incredible rainfall rate. cordelia, observer mike, they had 7.0 and i split the difference. there was heavy rain in vallejo. redwood city, numerous reports about a half inch to a third of an inch. they have been going down towards the north bay but there is very unstable air which will be active, much more so into friday and that is when the

top stories, police in fairfield are investigating a deadly shooting which happened last night right outside a bar near travis air force base, one man died another is in serious condition. the shootings followed a big fight inside the bar on parker road. investigators are still searching for missing teen sierra lemar, and they are now checking underwater sonar images in two reserviors. divers may go back there in the next couple of days and if they don't find anything, they may search other waterways. some bay area cities got a lot of rain overnight. look at these pictures here. i am saw you saw it and -- i'm sure you saw it and felt it, and as you can imagine this morning, we've got quite a few problems to deal with today. tara moriarty is in one neighborhood where you talked

about a smell, sewerage is seeping into homes, what is going on? >> reporter: that's right, all of the rain that has accumulated caused some problems with the drainage system and if you take a look behind me, you can see this firefighter in the course door trying pump out some more of the sewerage. they had some overflow forcing tens of thousands of gallons on to the streets and into these garages. here we are in the mission district in san francisco and around 4:00 a.m., people who live here noticed dirty foul water was seeping out of the sewer. firefighters came out to try to diffuse the situation. >> initially we are here to mitigate any immediate hazards and the first concern was there would be an electrical hazard but we were able to determine that part of the incident had

passed and we were here to help residents in any way we could. >> and they are waiting now for the department of public works to arrive. >> reporter: they have a lot more sophisticated equipment to clean up this mess. this is not the first time this happened. residents say the same drag drainage issue pop -- drainage issue popped up in 2009. they will have to decontaminate their booths and they have some heavy bins of bleach. we had to do that to our own booths because once you traffic spell to the other half of this street, you are walking where the sewerage is. basically there is another part of the business which got quite a bit of flooding and we will find out more and get back to

also the head of nato said the alliance is onset to hand over power to afghan force as planned. well a groundbreaking ceremony is planned in san jose to celebrate bart's extension to the south bay. they set up to prepare for all this and today's event will be held south of north san jose. some officials and locals stayed there and some officials will be there among them, senator dianne fine stein and gray davis. the rain has let up a little bit, there are still some problems on the roads, hello, sal. as a matter of fact we have a look at some of these commutes. let me take a look for you, in san jose, a lot of little fender benders in the san jose region and you can see traffic

will be a little bit slow. see where lorraine was earlier, eventually they did get that car on to a tow truck and may close some lanes but for the most part, that scene has been removed. northbound 101 is moderate in the area. southbound just moderate and again we have a lot of slow traffic. look at all the red there, we had a couple of different fender-benders, crashes, a car was on fire at one point and these frustrated drivers are coming in from the pass, from tracy to livermore, unfortunately we need to -- you need to give yourself an extra half hour just to stay on time. recovering from some wet weather also if you are going towards 880, traffic looks good, let's go to steve. really a major league system went through and left

about oh, a quarter of an inch to a third of an inch for most locations. the system that went by, thankfully it did not stall. upstream there is plenty going on and i have been doing this a long time, folks. this is very intense rain coming in later tonight into tomorrow and there is still some popping up right now. i'm sure you heard it, there was wind out ahead of it, already forming on the backside of this. out towards vallejo, back to parts of the east bay, these are fast movers and you can get some brief heavy rain. most of this fell at about an hour or an hour and a half. conklin napa, all about a third of an inch. 40s and 50s on the temperatures and the upper air pattern is

diving towards us which gives us more rain today and tomorrow. the computer model forecast shows things will calm down before the next system comes roaring in late tonight. tomorrow will be very active and most of tomorrow will be as well. cooler and kind of a rainy cooler day. breezy conditions, upper 50s and lower 60s and computer models are forecasting -- they are out to lunch right now. tomorrow looks tough, i'm not sure they will play at 135. it does look warmer sunday and monday, dave, claudine? there is trouble on the u.s. job front and they announced more people filed for unemployment benefits last week than in previous weeks. it rose to 280,000 and that's

. catcher buster posey can't seem to get a break. now he has been diagnosed with shippingels. the manager hopes to have him in the starting lineup for tomorrow's opener. shingles usually disappears after a few weeks. one of the biggest names is parting ways with the bay area sports talk radio station. he has been let go after 28 years on the air.

his on air partner will now host their popular radio show alone. now last night he issued a statement saying he will have more to say about his abrupt dismissal in the coming days. he is denying that this was a friendly parting. he is ending a career. the last day on the air for bob melrose. he has been working on the radio since 1975. over the years he has covered some of the biggest stories and bob has always done a terrific professional job. >> i have seen him, he works nonstop, hard worker and congratulations to him on his retirement. sal, it has been a mess, hi, sal. >> it has been a mess and traffic is moving along well on 237 until you get to 880 and then it gets better after the
