11:00 this morning. the stand off continues around an apartment to the west of that intersection up there on chrysler road. beyond the stand off taking place, as you said for many hours, there are few answers. >> reporter: the sheriff's deputy believes the suspect is still inside his apartment, a building surrounded by officers. >> we don't know anything about him, we don't know what the motive is. all we know is we have two people dead, one of my valued members of my team is dead. >> reporter: two of his deputies were serving eviction notices, one of the deputies was shot. and one civilian. s.w.a.t. team members arrived to surround the apartment building. including the bomb squad. >> we are deploying the bomb

team because we believe there are explosives inside the apartment. >> reporter: the name of the suspect hasn't been released. one neighbor knows who the sheriffs is looking for. >> he was discharged from the military. he seemed nice. >> reporter: again, the name of the sheriff's deputy and the civilian have not been released yet. we are expecting a briefing tonight. however, while we are told it will take place, it will not happen till the situation here revolves itself. ken pritchett, ktvu channel 2 news. >> residence were shocked and scared to hear of the violence. it happened in a complex, small 2 story apartment building. some residents saw the shooting after math. >> a guy they were trying to resuscitate him. they were doing that for a good

5 minutes. the other guy was the officer because as they were running him towards the car, they had another car shielding him. >> they say gang activity is common. stay with us on www.ktvu.com for the latest on this developing news story and you will find a link to video from the scene. turning to storm watch, rains caused a partial roof collapse this morning at the good will stor. this happened about 10:45. standing water caused a portion of the roof to cave in. further investigation found more standing water. >> while up there they found other blocked drains and in those areas they cleared the debris to let the roof drain properly. >> the store was not effected

by the collapse. no injuries were reported. this is video taken by a ktvu channel 2 news viewer this morning. this was taken about 10:00 when a thunderstorm rolled through. ktvu's chief meteorologist bill martin joins us where the conditions were seen today. >> unsettled weather today and yesterday and tomorrow and right now. to the central valley. live storm tracker 2. i show you this. i know it is east of the area but it applies to our weather. this air is triggering more severe weather. we have severe thunderstorm in the central valley. you see the watch boxes. you see this spinner out here, that is the doppler rader saying we had rotation on this cell. that means the top could be going up to 25,000 feet. that is a big cell. that is the kind of weather we are expecting tomorrow. showers are back in the

robberies between march 8 and april 6. both men are held at the main jail. investigators say a fire at a apartment building may have been an act of arson. it was reported this morning. firefighters say the fire spread into the attic of the storage unit but didn't reach any apartments. witnesses saw someone light something on fire and throw it into the storage unit. san francisco sheriff ross mirkarimi asked a judge to rumove the city's attorney's office against the case against him. they have a conflict of interest because they are representing mayor ed lee in the proceedings. a hearing is set for april 19. the california supreme court ruled employers do not have to make workers take breaks. a group of workers sued saying

abuses are widespread. but the court sided with the businesses, saying requiring companies is unmanageable. >> we are pleased with the decision. we believe it is a common sense ruling to the issue. >> california is one of a few states that impose as penality for not providing breaks. they scrapped a plan for initial public offering last night. bright source energy blamed the move on adverse market conditions. the cancellation is sparked concern other solar companies will have a difficult time going public. regulator issued a manning later. dan richards was criticized after this photo was published of him holding a shot mountain

imagery, you see that spinner there, i know it is merced, that is a rotating cloud. a funnel cloud when it touches down is considered a tornado. we will be following this all night and more unstable weather tonight and tomorrow. a wild weather period. this is not unusual. this time of year in the central valley you get cold air and this activity. so it is striking. like this morning's hail and tonight as the cold air gets closer, the thunderstorms will drift south towards the north bay. at 10:00 we will show you reds and yellows. i don't think we will see rotation. but by tomorrow morning, in the bay area, we could see some severe weather. we will be watching it. we will be watching it for you
