good morning. welcome to mornings on 2. it is saturday, april 14th. very cool morning, but the skies do appear to be clearing. let's check in with rosemary, and good morning! you've given us a great weekend? >> i hope so. if you like it dry and warmer, that's what we do have in santorum for the weekend. a few business every moisture over areas of monterey, light showers in the overnight hours. here closer to home and around the bay area we are partly to mostly cloudy, mainly dry. the winds picking up just a bit at times. 13 miles per hour reported san francisco, oakland. 12 in san jose. 67 livermore and temperatures a little cool out there this morning. 40s across the bay area. 45 livermore. 48 in oakland. head to the north bay, 43 santa rosa and a cool start here in napa where we're holding on to 40 degrees. we do have a warm-up on the way. i'll look at your afternoon highs and run you the weekend coming up. more than a dozen cars were vandalized in oakland overnight and police are now searching for whoever did it.

it all took place in a downtown parking lot. allie rasmus is live there to tell us more about that damage. >> reporter: was in flames so when people arrived you can see the inside was all burnt out. but when people started coming back to the parking lot they could see that there were shards of glass all across the area. dozens of cars had been vandalized and broken into overnight. this is a parking lot on broadway and 17th. a lot of people park here on friday and saturday nights to go to some of the downtown bars and restaurants, and the fox theater just a couple blocks away. concert and party-goers got an unpleasant surprise when they came back to their cars early this morning. >> they took the deck, they took $60 out of the purses in the car. and that looks just about it. it looks like they spent their time taking the deck out. >> i'm disappointed because i have a big fan of oakland and

i'm sorry this occurred downtown. >> firefighters put out the fire quickly and the fire did not spread to any cars. several police officers came to the other to start taking police reports of the burglaries and break-ins that happened. and this morning it's not clear who owns the parking lot, it's not clear if anyone more when anyone will be coming out to clean up all the shards of glass because it's scattered pretty much across all the park, spaces you see out here. this is the parking lot downtown oakland, 17th and broadway. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. we have more information, a story we first told you about yesterday on mornings on 2. this morning crews are expected back at the scene. of a mudslide in piedmont. right now a stretch of moraga remains closed because of downed trees and power lines. people in the area say slides are common there but this is the largest 1 they've seen. yesterday crews were working to clear the debris but weren't able to finish before dark. >> it took longer than expected

to get the trees and other debris out of the landslide area. partly because of the steep slope of the hill and partly because of the wires still in the way. >> the power was restored to people around 9 lasts night, and so far no homes have been red-tagged. officials say that could change if more mudslides down today. the storm also caused problems for this east oakland neighborhood. newschopper 2 flew over bernhardt drive, where streets were underwater. residents say this is not the first time they've been flooded. too much rain all at once can overwhelm their storm drains. oakland received almost two inches of rain over the past two days. police investigating a robbery and shooting that prompted officers to fire their guns. yesterday afternoon police say they were investigating a robbery at an apartment complex in vallejo when witnesses say a man came out of a car and began shooting at officers, who returned fire. another man was seen running where police set up another search for the robbery suspect.

right now police are not releasing any more details and it's not clear if anyone has been arrested or was injured in the shooting. in just about an hour, volunteer search efforts for a missing teenager sierra lamar will continue. yesterday santa clara county sheriff's cancer teams took to the water for the second day, in the reservoir looking for any clues about the 15-year- old's disappearance. so far the underwater search has turned up nothing. this morning volunteers, 18 and older, are being asked to check it in at the school in morgan hill. a manhunt underway for an inmate from santa clara county who escaped a work farm near the california-oregon border. 35-year-old justin hardin escaped last night. he is white, 5 feet 10 inches called, 155 pounds with green eyes. the minimum security inmate was jailed on charges of injury on a spouse. president obama is in

columbia this weekends for the summit. americas. he attended a dinner last night for regional leaders. mr. obama says he wants to make latin america more accessible for u.s. companies while other nations want the president to lift economic sanctions against cuba. cuba is not invited to the meetings and the white house says officials in havana don't meet its democratic ideals. the summit will begin shortly. we'll have live pictures from that event later on mornings on 2. president obama was not hurt after four small bombs went off throughout columbia. two of the devices exploded and why bags of gunpowder placed in eight bus station and supermarket. two other bombs detonated nears the u.s. embassy. none of the explosives caused any damage. the military blames the homemade bombs on leftist guerillas protesting president obama's appearance at and s service agents responsible for protecting the president have been stripped of their duties. 12 agents were sent back to the

u.s. for personal misconduct. the allegations reportedly involve hiring prostitutes. the official did not deny the charges, saying the activities happened before president obama arrived in columbia and that new agents were handling his detail and would not affect his security. severe weather is expected in the midwest today, and forecasters say it could be life-threatening. show you video of a tornado touching down yesterday in norman, oklahoma. conditions are ripe for more violent tornadoes to rip across the country from texas to minnesota over the weekend. this is the only second time in history the storm prediction center has issued such a strong warning. the worst weather is expected to develop later this afternoon. wild weather there, we also had a lot of wild weather this week in the bay area. turn over to rosemary and check to see if it's all gone. >> it is going to be a quieter weekend. and many of us are ready for it. we've got much-needed rain. thunderstorms rumble through, even a central valley reporting a couple tornadoes in the lasts few days. but this morning, we are off to

good morning to you! a live look in bay point, we've got blue skies, fresh green grass, sitting in the 40s this morning. new this morning, as many americans rush to file their taxes, president obama is raising the issue of tax fairness. >> we can't afford to keep spending more money on tax cuts for the wealthiest americans who don't need them, and didn't even ask for them. >> during his weekly address, the president called for congress to pass the so-called buffett rule named after billionaire warren buffet. it would raise the minimum tax rate for the wealthiest americans. republicans say the proposal would discourage investments. the deadline to file their taxes this year is tuesday, april 17th. there's fear among the people of alaska. no suspect has been named in the shooting death of two men at a coast guard communications station on kodiak island. the victims are identified as 41-year-old james hopkins and

51-year-old richard belllyle who was retired. all though the fbi says people in the area are not in any immediate danger, residents say they're concerned because they haven't been kept up to date. security has been tightened at the coast guard base, and a nearby school. the army soldiers charged with killing 17 afghan villagees last month will not participate at a board hearing. the military want to determine whether staff sergeant robert bales is competent to stand trial. but bales' self-ann attorney says the army won't allow him to have a lawyer at the hearing or record those proceedings. if bales does not take part in the mental review, a judge could bar him from using the mental health defense during his court-martial. the florida judge overseeing the second-degree murder case of george zimmerman might have a conflicted of interest. judge jessica recksiedler says her husband works with a lawyer who was asked by the family to represent him. the judge's husband has also commented on the case for cnn.

the judge asked both sides to present their views on the potential conflict of interest before next friday's bail hearing. zimmerman is accused of killing teenager trayvon martin. and this is a portrait of the george zimmerman created with more than 12,000 skittles. the portrait was done by 31- year-old annie bell, an art student who says it's a symbol of what happens when you let fear rule your life. police say trayvon martin had just purchased skittles when he was shot and killed by zimmerman. one of suspects in a shooting spree is now speaking out from jail. 19-year-old jacob england is one of two men accused in an easter shoot that left three people dead and injured two more. prosecutors have filed murder and hate crime charges against jacob and his roommate alvin watt. they say the two men were targeting african-americans because jacobs was angry that a black man shot and killed his father two years ago. jacobs denies having any bad feelings towards any race.

[audio not understandable] >> the first funeral for one of three victims was held yesterday. both jacobs and watts have confessed to the shooting. the victims of a mass murder in san francisco will be laid to rest tomorrow. the bodies of five people were found in a home near city college last month. police say it was one of most violent crime scenes they had ever investigated. there will be a funeral procession from san francisco to the cemetery and coalmont. the may over and several supervisors are expected to attend the service. the search is on for a motorcyclist who shot at a couple in mill valley. it happened around 11:30 yesterday morning. investigators say the gunman was dressed in black and rode a black bike. the victims were sitting in a truck when they were shot at. they were not hit by the bullets but one of them did suffer cuts from a shattered

window. the sheriff says the body found in a burned apartment building is the suspect accused of a double murder. although investigators are still not saying how that fire began, sheriff's christensen admitted flash-bangs and teargas were used to draw the gunman out. it began thursday and lasted 11 hours. once the flames were put out a body was found inside. property records show the home belonged to 45-year-old james ferrar joe. deputies were serving eviction papers when the suspect opened fire. one deputy was killed. another man was also shot dead. a second deputy escaped injury. tenants in the building re having a difficult time getting back to normal. crime tape remains up at that condo and all of the residents have been displaced. one of them believes his daughter's cat died in the fire. another 10 amount says police evacuate them hours after the first gunshots. >> me and my family were in the hallway and stuck in the

bathroom, we're hearing gunshots. we don't know what is going on outside. >> probably used a sledgehammer or something, knocked the wall down and -- enough space for us to get out. >> agents with the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms are investigating the scene and will be there through tomorrow night. a suspicious package caused a scare in downtown reno. the washington county bomb squad was called to the scene to blow up the package. it turned out there were only packing peanuts inside. authorities are still trying to figure out who put it there. a highway patrol is seeking criminal charges against the truck, company responsible for this massive fire on a los angeles area freeway. a tanker was carrying 9,000 gallons of gasoline when it crashed in december. highway patrol blames the fire on poor maintenance of the truck. investigators say a driver shaft came loose, punctured the tanker and caused sparks as it dragged along the roadway.

check out this heavy flooding in fresno. it became a problem for many drivers who became stranded on city streets. some stopped to help push out one of stopped cars. police also shut down roads so crews could try to clear the water. people who live there say it felt like they were living in the middle of a lake. clean-up is underway this morning after the second tornado in northern california this week. it touched down yesterday afternoon in yuba city, about an hour north of sacramento. the winds blew up a large overhang from a car dealership and scattered debris on a roof. no one was hurt. the national weather service classified that tornado as an

ef0 with winds between 65 and 85 miles an hour. on wednesday another twister touched down outside of stockton. about three feet of new snow has fall continue in the sierra over the past few days. interstate 80 near kingvale, you can see the roads are partially clear there and right now there are no chain restrictions on any of the main roadways up to the sierra. the storm also brought some snow to southern california. schools were closed for the day and the second time this week the area has been hit with the cold winter storm. i know a lot of little league games cancelled today to try to give knows fields a chance to dry out. rosemary, trying to give us a like at maybe dryer conditions today? >> we do have dryer conditions. already seeing it outside our door. moat of us waking up with at least a little bit of sunshine. some of us mostly sunny already. and giving you a live look at some of that hazy blue sky. good air quality in store for today, will be a little brisk at times. you can see a few showers over

a grant from the state parks foundation was given to the mill to help pay for the repairs. park rangers say the mill is an important part of california history and should be restored. a new suspension bridge to the lighthouse opens to the public today. the marin landmark has been closed for two years. the national park service has been doing repairs on the bridge after it was deemed unsafe. a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday to mark the reopening. the lighthouse will be open to the public on saturdays, sundays and mondays. your time is 7:25. a ktvu crew sent to check out a troublesome home in contra costa county against an angry reaction from the people and the dog inside. we'll show you what happened and tell you why neighbors are so frustrated. and even though injured giants fan bryan stow couldn't come in person to opening day, he was there and was able to watch a pretty special first pitch thrown from that mound. i'm sorry this occurred downtown. >> firefighters put out the fire in the bother quickly. the fire didn't spread to any other cars parked here or any of the cars here rather. several oakland police officers came to the area, filing multiple police reports overnight, helping the people who were victims of this vandalism. along with some of broken glass next to the booth you can see a few keys left on the ground here. now it's not clear at this point when or if someone who the people who own this parking lot will be out here to maybe give the keys back to the people that belong to, and clean up some of the broken glass here. but this is the parking lot on 17th and broadway in downtown oakland. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. one person is dead and two others are injured after a triple shooting in san francisco bayview's hunter point neighborhood. it happened on griffith street last night. police tell us three people inside a car were shot, someone drove them to san francisco

general hospital. police say one victim was pronounced dead and the other two are being treated for non- life-threatening injuries. this morning three people are in custody after trying to escape oakland police during a tense standoff. this is 28-year-old parolee renaldo mart a. police say he and 21-year-old amanda pierce were wanted for kidnapping a 55- year-old man last month. they took him as far as tehachapi before he could escape. police say he changed into a disguise, hoping to get away. >> the suspect did change clothes. he changed into women's clothing. he did try to disguise his appearance to evade police detection. police however cornered him in a room. a volunteer citizens group will try to keep the streets of east oakland safe tonight. members of the bay area safety

patrol will cover international boulevard from high street to 78th avenue. the group largely consists of private security guards. they do not carry weapons. they wear black raids and military fatigue pants. san jose police are investigating a shooting and a stabbing that injured a man and two teenagers. police were called to wad creek land and boynton avenue before 4:00 yesterday afternoon. when officers arrived they found a 16-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man who were shot. another 16-year-old boy was suffering from a stab wound. police say their injuries are not life-threatening and there's no word on what led up to the violence but police do believe it was gang-related. no arrests have been made. a story you'll see only only 2, a ktvu news crew threatened while investigating a blight complaint in antioch. >> there's a dog. >> a pit bull ran out of the house and chased a reporter and photographer from the sidewalks. earlier a man in a hockey mask appeared at the same doorway and yelled at the news crew.

neighbors of the house say the home is a growing eyesore. the former owner says people have been squatting there for about a year after it went into foreclosure. >> lots of junk boeing stored and moved around. the backyard looks like a dump. and it's just become obvious that either they have a landlord that doesn't care or there is no landlord. >> a person inside the house said they are in the process of moving. records show the property management company in oakland owns the house. company says it is now checking in on the situation. a pit bull is quarantined and will be euthanized after it attacked a three-year-old girl near martinez. newschopper 2 flew over the scene yesterday morning. authorities say the toddler was visiting her grandmother's home when the family dog mauled her. she was taken to the hospital with puncture wounds. no criminal charges are expected. a san jose family is mourning the death of a six- year-old girl killed in a tragic accident on a santa cruz county boetsch.

it happened on 26th avenue beach in the live oak area yesterday. the florida is cruz office says the girl was playing near the water when a large log washed ashore and pinned her to the ground. family members and volunteers lifted the log off the girl but she was unconscious and later died at the hospital. at least three people are reporting boeing hit by light finger during thursday's storm. in half moon bay firefighters responded to a call, one person taken to the hospital for evaluation. authorities say a lightning bolt also hit two brothers camping on mount diablo, both reported numbness in their bods. their tent has two big western holes. they say it's their only form of shelter since their home was foreclosed on in march. and that same night more than 700 lightning strikes hit up the bay area skies. the national weather service says the severe weather was generated by a late-season storm and warm ocean temperatures, commonly seen in the midwest and remarkable sight for the bay area.

for your area, coming up. overnight news, one person is dead and two others are injured after a triple shooting in san francisco's bayview hunters point neighborhood. it happened on griffeyth street around 8:45 last night. police tell us three people inside a car were shot. someone drove them to san francisco general hospital. police say one victim was dead and the others are treated for for injuries. no one has been arrested. this morning the oakland police department is investigating the vandalism of several vehicles. just after midnight a fire in the tollbooth of the douglas parking lot was reported in downtown oakland. after reporting the fire the man who called in noticed something else. >> they came back to my car, only to discover that my car and about 15 other cars had their -- broken into by vandals. >> the vehicles all had broken windows. people there say items such as stereos and money were stolen.

so far there is no suspect information. this morning crews are back at the scene of a mudslide woe first told but yesterday on mornings on 2. right now a stretch of moraga avenue in piedmont remains closed because of downed trees and power lines. it is expected to reopen later this afternoon. people in that area say slides are common but this is the largest one they've seen. yesterday crews were on the scene all day working to try to clear the debris. but they just weren't able to get that work done before dark. >> it took longer than expected to get the tree and other debris out of the landslide area. partly because of the steep slope of the hill and partly because of the wires that were still in the way. >> power was restored to people around 9 last night. so far no homes have been red- tagged but officials say that could change if more slides down the hill today. allie rasmus will have a live update on that situation coming up at 8:30. the storm also brought heavy rain and flooding to this east oakland neighborhood. you can see these pictures from

the recent spring storm is being blamed for this heavy flooding in fresno. it became a problem for many drivers who became stranded on city streets. good samaritans stopped and help push out the stuck cars. police shut down a lot of roads so crews could try to clear the water. police -- people who live there say it felt like they were living in the middle of a lake. clean-up is underway this morning after the second tornado in northern california this week. it touched down yesterday afternoon in yuba city, about an hour north of sacramento. the winds blew off a large overhang from a car dealership and scattered debris on a roof. no one was hurt. the national weather service classifies the tornado as an

ef0 with winds between 65 and 85 miles per hour. on wednesday another twister touched down, just outside stockton. ski resorts are reporting at least three feet of new snow over the fast few days in the sierra. look at interstate 80 near kingville. people zipping right along there. there are no chain restrictions on any of the main roadways headed to the sierra. the storm also brought some snow to southern california. in frazier park, schools were closed for the day and commuters reported slippery roads. it is the second time this week that area has been hit with a cold winter storm. should be blue skies today, especially tomorrow and looks like folks are heading up to the sierra, should be blue skies up there for them to ski. >> we have just a few lingering showers over the sierra this morning. those will be tapering off and especially sunday, you've got partly cloudy skies, mild conditions. here at home we're already drying out. live look at all the blue skies, over the bay area. we've got plenty of sunshine in

and we'll continue for tomorrow. 70 degrees for some of us on sunday, and then temperatures will hover around the mid to upper 60s mark monday, tuesday, a tad cooler on wednesday and perhaps a few sprinkles over the north basically i'll be watching that for you. back to you. today a city-wide disaster response drill is being held in san francisco. it will begin in just about 30 minutes at edward middle school on church street. the drill is being conducted by the neighborhood emergency response team. volunteers will gather to practice search and rescue techniques and other response skills. since the 1989 earthquake, the neighborhood response team has trained more than 22,000 people to help emergency responders. next sunday is earth day, and today people are kicking off the celebration by cleaning up bay area parks. the california state parks foundation is leading the clean- up empts of 19 parks all over the state. and the list includes eight here in the bay area. the biggest clean-up efforts will be held at martin luther king, jr. regional shoreline in alameda county, candlestick park, and mount diablo state

park. bail grist mill will also up one of sites today. about 100 volunteers signed up to help restore the goldrush era mill. a grant from the state parks foundation was given to the mills to pay for the repairs. park rangers say the mill is an important part of california history and should be restored. a new bridge to the point bonita lighthouse opens today. the landmark was closed two years. the national parks service has been doing repairs in the bridge after it was deemed unsafe. a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday to mark the reopening. the lighthouse will be open to the public on saturdays, sundays and mondays. a south bay company at the center of a samonella outbreak. the fish they're recalling that's been linked to sickness in nearly two dozen states. >> work just began to finish cleaning up a mudslide in the east bay hills. the challenge that workers are keeping to keep the people in this house safe as it

the storms are now gone but plenty of damage is left behind, especially in the east bay. good morning, everyone. welcome back to mornings on 2. a mudslide in piedmont shut down a stretch of moraga avenue. allie rasmus is there live where crews are still working just to clear the debris. >> reporter: work crews pulled up about 20 minutes ago. you can see they've got their trucks going, they're ready to start their work. this is day two of cleaning up all the mud and dirt you see blocking this road. the bulk of it slid down on to moraga way late thursday into early friday morning during the

last round of storms we had. and while this is going on, the road will be blocked off to traffic. this is moraga way from the oakland piedmont border to coach's field. there were several large trees that fell on to the power lines here during that mudslide. and most of those trees have been removed. now the challenge is just clearing out the mud and dirt out of the roadway. we don't know how much dirt fell, but from afar you do goat a sense of just how big it is. piedmont engineers came out here yesterday to make sure the home was sitting on top of this mudslide is still stable. and it is. it's not been red-tagged and engineers determined it is safe for the people there to stay in their homes overnight. but because this house fitting above the mudslide crews had have to carefully clear away the mudslide. >> the last thing we want to have happen is we pull dirt off the road or out of the slide area, and then the house which is just -- becomes in more

washed ashore and pinned her to the ground. family members and volunteers were able to lift that log off the girl but she was uncounsel and conscious and died at the hospital. severe weather is expected in the midwest today and forecasters say it could be life-threatening. this is video of a tornado touching down yesterday in norman, oklahoma. forecasters say conditions are ripe for more violent tornadoes to rip across the country from texas to minnesota over this weekend. this is only the second time in history that the storm prediction centers has issued such a strong warning. the worst weather is expected to develop later this afternoon. at least three people were hit by lightning thursday. firefighters responded to the call of a home on paris avenue. one person taken to the hospital for evaluation. a lightning bolt also hit two brothers camping on mount diablo. both reported numbness in parts of their bodies. their tent has two big burn holes. it's their only form of shelter since their home was foreclosed

the elderlyville was the grandfather of a redwood city firefighter. the department's create a smile foundation is raising money and for food and clothing and shelter for the victim's family. three other members were also injured in the fire. a fire at an oakland auto repair shop is being investigated as suspicious. starting yesterday afternoon, at a warehouse on east 9th street, police arrested a woman at the scene. a witness told ktvu he saw the woman burning clothes in a barrel and that the fire spread to the building. the city of san bruno received $70 million from pg&e in compensation for the deadly pipeline explosion in 2010. the money is in addition to a trust set up by pg&e to pay for neighborhood repairs. it will not go directly to the victims. instead city officials will decide how to spend it. the pipeline explosion killed 8 people and destroyed three does homes in the hilltop neighborhood. a monterey county choir director has pleaded not guilty to charges of using a spy camera to peek at female students during a field trip.

is blocked -- the road that is blocked because of this way is near blair park in the city of peidmont. there were several large trees that fell onto some of the power lines here. most of that is cleaned up already. now the challenge is clearing the mud and dirt out of the road. this mudslide happened late thursday night, sometime early friday morning during that last round of storms. from afar you can get a sense of how big the mud slide is. peidmont city engineers came out here yesterday to make sure the home sitting above the mud slide is still stable. it is. it hasn't been red tagged but crews will have to clear away the mud slide very carefully, and the city spokesman says the good news is that the mud slide didn't get any worse overnight. >> the fact that it was dry last night is a good thing. it hopefully allowed the hillside to stablize a little bit. our engineers will be out today watching the process and making sure that the work that they're doing the clear the road doesn't affect the hillside anymore. >> reporter: now since we have

been out here for the last hour or so we have seen some rocks tumbling down right underneath that retaining wall on the concrete slab that that house sits under. city officials and city engineers think the house is ago. the mudslide didn't get worse overnight and according to the city spokesman the goal is to have it cleaned up and the roadway back open late this afternoon. live in peidmont. ally rasmus. the storm also caused problems for this east oakland neighborhood. check out what news chopper 2 found when it flew over burn bernhart drive. those streets under water. residents say this flooding isn't the first. too much rain all at once they say overwhelms their storm drain. oakland received almost two inches of rain in the past two days. cleanup is under way this morning after a second tornado in northern california this week. it touched down yesterday afternoon in yuba city, about an hour north of sacramento. the winds blew off a large overhang from a car dealership, and then scattered debris on the nearby roof.

fortunately, no one was hurt. the national weather service is classifying that tornado as an e.f. 0 with winds between 65 and 85 miles an hour. on wednesday, another twister touched down outside of stockton. severe weather is expected in the midwest today and forecasters say it could be life-threatening. you are looking at video of a tornado that touched down yesterday in norman, oklahoma. forecasters say conditions are ripe for more violent tornadoes to rip across the country from texas to minnesota, over this weekend. and this is only the second time in history that the storm prediction center has issued such a strong warning. the worst weather is expected to develop later this afternoon. coming up at 9:15, we'll go live to norman, oklahoma for a report. berkeley police are investigating an officer- involved shooting that happened around 10:40 last night near eighth and delaware streets. police say officers were looking for a man who ran from a traffic stop. he was spotted in a nearby apartment. the man came out and police say he ignored officers' commands

and opened fire. several officers returned fire, hitting the suspect. his injures are not life -- injuries are not life threatening and no officers were injured. san francisco police are investigating a triple shooting that left one dead. it happened at 8:45 last night. police tells three people sitting inside a car were shot. someone drove them to the san francisco general hospital. police say one victim was pronounced dead there, and the other two are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. no one has been arrested. an investigation is now under way in oakland after at least 15 people found their cars vandalized. just after midnight the fire in the toll booth of the douglas parking lot was reported. that is in downtown oakland on 17th and broadway. after reporting the fire, the man who called it in noticed something else. >> i came back to my car, only to discover that my car and about 15 other cars, had their -- had been broken into by vandals. >> you can see what that car,

the cars had broken windows. people there say items such as stereos and money was stolen. no suspect information. right now volunteers are continuing the search for a admission teenager sierra lamar. yesterday santa clara county sheriff 65 teams took to the water for the second day in the yuba reservoir looking for any clues about the 15-year-old's disappearance. so far the under water search has turned up nothing until 1:00 this afternoon, volunteers 18 and older can check in at burnett elementary in morgan hill. a man hunt is under way for an inmate from santa clara county who escaped a work farm near the california/oregon border. 35-year-old justin william harden escaped last night from the camp. it sends inmates to fight firefighters. he is white, 5' 10, 155 pounds with green eyes. the minimum security inmate was jailed on charges of corporal injury on a spouse. harden was scheduled to be paroled in about a year and a half. right now president obama

a live look there at the bay. you got the city, the bay bridge for you this morning. just a beautiful start to the day. well, italy's mount aetna is erupting once again. this is the third time in the last month the southeastern crater has sent lava flowing. no one has been hurt and italian authorities haven't issued any warning of danger for houses or people. at least three possible tornadoes were reported in central oklahoma overnight. forecasters say today could be a day of life threatening storms in the midwest. mike tobin is live now in norman, oklahoma which has already been hit by the severe weather. >> reporter: and claudine, looking around norman, oklahoma. we're seeing downed trees and downed power lines. looking outside of the vehicle you can see a lot of the roof damage. what's interesting is they're used to tornadoes in this part of the country so a lot of the buildings are built with solid brick construction, but still when you have the force of a

twister come down, that will pull off parts of the roof. certainly as good as knocking down the power lines. we see the stoplights are out in town. the good news here in norman especially is there were some injuries, but nothing more than bumps and bruises. we're in this unique situation where meteorologists are looking at it saying all of the ingredients have gone into the mix to bring out seer life threatening tornadoes in the next few hours. so the people in this part of the country have been told to stay weather aware. that means staying close to your smart phone, staying close to your weather radio. watching the local news on television to see the latest information about where these storms are. also in this part of the country most of the homes are not built with basements. this brick construction will withstand an e.f. 2 or an e.f. 3 tornado. when you get into the e.f. 4 or 5 range, that's what the emergency crews call slab scrapers. if you've ever seen a house hit

response team. volunteers will gather to practice search and rescue techniques and other response skills. since the 1989 quake, the neighborhood response team has trained more than 22,000 people to help emergency responders. the stanislaus county sheriff says the body found in a burned apartment building is the suspect accused of a double murder, including the killing of a sheriff deputy. although investigators still are not saying how the fire began, sheriff adam christian son admitted flash bangs and tear gas were used to try to draw the gunman out. the modesto stand off began thursday and lasted 11 hours. when the flames were put out a body was found inside. records show the home belonged to 45 years old james ferrario. sheriff deputies were serving eviction papers when the suspect opened fire. killed was 53-year-old deputy robert paris. 35-year-old modesto locksmith glendon angert was shot dead. a second deputy escaped injury. tenants in the building are

having a difficult time getting back to their daily routine. crime tape remains up and all of the residents have been displaced. one of them says he believes his daughter's cat died in the fire. another tenant says police evacuated them hours after the first gun shot. >> me and my family are in the hallway, stuck in the bathroom. we don't know what's going on. >> they probably used maybe a sledgehammer or something to knock the wall down. and enough space for us to get out. >> agents with the bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms are investigating the scene and will be there throughout the day. the victims of a mass murder in san francisco will be laid to rest tomorrow. the bodies of five people were found in the home near city college last month. police say it was one of the bloodiest crime scenes they have ever investigated. there is going to be a funeral procession from san francisco to the cemetery. san francisco's mayor ed lee and several city supervisors are expected to attend that service. vallejo police are investigating a robbery and shooting. yesterday afternoon, police were investigating a robbery at

an apartment complex on park view terrace. witnesses say a man came out of a car and began shooting at officers who returned fire. another man was then seen running towards tualami street where police had set up another search for the suspect. police aren't releasing any more details and it's unclear if anyone has been arrested or if anyone was hurt in that shooting. haywood police have raided a suspected marijuana grow house. the raid happened at a property on eldridge avenue neared a line street. we learned from police that it's part of an ongoing investigation that included two raids in oakland earlier this week and the kiss occasion of 600 marijuana police. several agencies were involved in today's agency. no word on any arrest. a florida judge overseaing the second degree murder case of george zimmerman might have a conflict of interest. judge jessica seedler says her husband works with a lawyer who was asked by zimmerman's family to represent him. the judge's husband has also commented on the case for c.n.n. the judge has asked both sides

to present their views of the potential conflict of interest before next friday's bail hearing. zimmer man is accused of killing teenager trayvon martin. one of the suspects in a tulsa shooting rampage is speaking out from jail. 19-year-old jacob england is one of two accused in an easter shooting that left three people dead and injured two more. prosecutors have filed murder and hate crime charges against the two men. they say the two were targeting african americans because jacobs was angry that a black man shot and killed his father two years ago. but jacobs denies having any bad feelings towards any race. >> the place i live, we always have got along with everybody. didn't matter what color you was. >> that first funeral for one of the three victims was held yesterday. both jacobs and watts have questioned to the shooting. wikileaks founder julian assange plans to debut his own talk show next week. the world tomorrow will air on a russian television network.
