also looking at the commute on interstate 880 north and southbound, that traffic is moving a long well being and westbound, i want to mention there is a crash on the oakland side, no injuries but they may be blocking a lane to get those cars out of there. they will be picking the latest contract negotiations and alex savage has more on the specific issues that teachers are very unhappy with, alex? >> it comes after they recorrected a contract office and about an hour and a half from now teachers will form a picket line to bring lights to these failed contract negotiations and i will joined by the president of alameda

association, gray harris, thank you for being out here, you have a lot of teachers coming out to form this picket line and the reason is you have not been able to reach a contract with the district, what are the main issues? >> reporter: i think the main issues, teachers -- >> i think the main issues teachers feel disrespected and they are the lowest paid in all of alameda county and the superintendent just got a $1 million contract combined with the fact that we had 38 contract violations when she came and compared to last year, we only had 6. teachers want to be treated as professionals and they want our contract to be valued. >> aside from pay, there is also the issue of class size and you don't think the tentative class sizes were increased? >> correct. >> how many folks do you

expect? we have 90 teachers and i am hoping they will all be out here. >> reporter: so there will be a picket line, alameda teachers association is getting started at 7:30 this morning and they want to bring light to failed contract negotiations with the district. ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> there is a very important warning going out about an apparent abduction attempt. a strange man tried to lure a girl into his van. this happened while she was walking to school. there was a similar incident just a couple of weeks ago. now according to officials, a man describe under in his 30s has a heavyset mustache with polynesianian descend. stay tuned and we will tell you

more coming up at 6:30. they are announcing new leads in the missing teen south bay girl sierra lemar who disappeared march 16th. allie rasmus is live outside sheriff's headquarters with the reason they are not tell us specific fix about the new clues, what is going on, allie? >> they caution there is no guarantee and there is new evidence that was gathered early on in the investigation. investigators found her cell phone and a purse with some of her clothing in it. those items were discovered a few miles away from her home. the items were tested and investigators say that is where they are go thing some of the new leads from but they would not say whether the new leads provide evidence that sierra was in fact abducted.

>> it may we just don't know what at this time. it is leads to follow up with and we just top know at this time. >> i hope something pans out because we have just been desperate for something. >> bring sierra home. >> new developments came yesterday as supporters gathered for a balloon release and prayer vigil. >> reporter: they say they are not giving up hope that their daughter will be found safe. this does not change their plans that they will continue sending divers into waterways and they are continuing their investigation on their end. in overnight news, one man is dead after an accident that trapped him inside his car. the pickup truck ran off the

road on northbound 101. it happened just before capital expressway. officers say when they arrived on the scene both the truck and surrounding grass were on fire. the man was trapped in the driver's seat of the truck. firefighters responded but the driver died at the scene. no other details about the victim have been released. coast guard is now revealing any information, it claimed five lives on saturday. it is 26 miles from san francisco bay where the race began. a large wave smashed the boat sending four crew members overboard when a second wave sent three more into the water before tossing the boat on to the rocks. one racer describes what he saw. >> i knew and our whole crew knew this was not going to turn out good because we knew the conditions and new what the shore was like and trying

survive something like that is very difficult. >> three crew members did survive but one body was recovered and the other four are lost at sea presumed dead. the bat girl who gave barry bonds a fist bump, she is also the daughter of former giant executive corey bush and she survived that as a couple. he was a champion sailor who mentored sailor. allan cahill worked at the san francisco yacht club. and a talented paymenter and the 5th victim is elmora morrissey. we posted pictures from that tragedy and you will find a link under the bay area news

get an increase of $18,000. they are calling for salary adjustments every five years based on the salaries of counter parts and other bay area cities. vallejo report said it likely started the fire inside a house that was the scene of a standoff. one of 12 gas tier rounds likely flipped over flammable cleaning products. it turns out two suspects were not inside, a two dogs died inside the house and a third dog died after running from the house and got hit by a car. the murder of a young vallejo musician, tucker was shot to death in january 20th

major ones. a long 88 looks good and toll plaza traffic is still light. i mentioned the accident, i want to mention the traffic vick here. no problems on the pass and no problems on san a home, let's if to steve. temperatures will be cooler with the information of high -- introduction of high fog. it is mainly hitting the north and the pattern was not too bad yesterday but the sun and cloud deck came in and brought temperatures down. mostly sunny and partly cloudy and we will be cooler today. after today, all signs point towards sunny and warmer weather but not much of a sea breeze, i expect that to ramp

up later. 44 santa rosa and 54 in hayward. 50s near the coast and lower 60s but then you get inland and this is probably the cooler day -- coolest day of the week. high pressure can't build in and it spells a cooler pattern. 65 at the beaches and these higher clouds will start to thin out. we'll see a sooner burn off and temperatures will be warming up but today we have to lean off on that cooler pattern. sun clouds, 60s for some, low mid-for many. pittsburgh antioch, danville, 61 alameda, 60s also towards san jose and much of the santa clara valley, morgan hill gilroy, 65 to 67, upper 50s and 60s on the coast.

7th grader who was approached by man in a beige colored van. he was in his 30s and he pulled up alongside a girl while she was driving too cool. he went to a safe spot and her parents took her to class. they then issues a stray engineer danger a all right. >> he is heavyset with a black must dash and goat -- mustache and goatee. the purpose of this is to remind your children not to speak with strangers going to and from school. >> we found more than 700 registered sex offenders and we found one matching the description but we have not heard back and we are hoping for more details as far as what

to stress they are doing this, today's action come after a tentative contract with the remaining points be contracts and class size. they turned down a contract offer but it does not do enough to lower class sizes. the amount is 25 and teachers prefer a 20 student cap. they say it increases their workload without proper compensation. the a dream should start with this amount but toothiest say it is about -- teachers say it is about a lot more than pay >> i think teachers want the majority to go to the classrooms and they have it on reserve one of the highest in the country where teachers are actually the lowest paid in the

sal? southbound 101 for the connector northbound 280 and that means southbound on 101 trying to make the right turn if you will on to northbound 280 and there is a new crash and it is blocking part of that ramp. traffic is moving along relatively well and i want to move the maps up. about the only slowed traffic, no problems and sense source are picking up some stop-and-go traffic which is not unusual but traffic is moving along slowly in some parts of antioch. but it is the same thing that happens everyday so let's go to live pictures and the bay

bridge toll plaza, it happened right through here and this has been removed and traffic continues to move along relatively well at the toll plaza but there are no major problems. 2:37 on 237 westbound, that traffic is slow, gets go to steve. >> there are only a few and except for the santa cruz line where it is patchy. clear, mostly sunny, temperatures are held in check because there is too much in the way of that on shore push and clouds over the bay and that system is moving to the north of us after this goes by. high pressure says i think i will settle in for three days and warm things up but we have to wait until tomorrow for that to start happening. again, it is a dry pattern

although it may be one of those teaser systems. now 71 on the high side, just too much in the way of clouds, low fog and it will pump the ridge of high pressure over us. a little cooler coastal clouds, high clouds will a little more towards the north bay and temperatures mainly settling in the 60s and some upper 50s over by the coast, too much by the cloud deck, upper 6s 0 to lower 70s, 68 degrees and 68 in santa clara, sunny veil and 50s and 60s on the coast, mid-60s san bruno, san mateo and palo alto and it will be close for others. morning clouds will give way and clearing and here we go

them overboard on saturday. one other sailor died, three others survived. and a warning for parents in concord. they say a strange man tried to lawyer a 7th grader into his van. there was a similar incident up involving two 6th grade girls. they have new leads in the search for sierra lemar. allie rasmus joins us and tells us why investigators can't go into a lot of details about what they found, allie? >> reporter: that is right, detectives are not going into details because they still have to follow up on it and investigators also caution there is no guarantee these new leads will actually pan out. here is what we know about the new evidence, it was gathered early on after she disappeared

on march 16th. investigators found her cell phone and a purse with some of her clothing in it and it was discovered in a field not far from her morgan hill home. it is from the crime lab results that investigators gathered the new leads. >> they have not been followed up on anodic tis have -- detectives have not had a chance to confirm these leads, but if they lead to something, we could be closer to something. >> just as friends and family members gathered for a procedure vigil. >> if sierra were here right now she would say thank you for not giving up on me. >> they searched some of the reservoirs in the county last

live. >> an illness is spreading and it is coming with symptoms that will scare parents. coming up, what parents need to know about the troubling disease that spreads like the common cold. sal has been busy and i know you are watching the east bay, what is going on now? >> well, pam, right now traffic is going to be slow in some areas. i want to start off with highway 24 because westbound 24, remember we had that crash and apparently there was some debris left over that cal strands did not get. however, right here it does look good in lafayette as you drive on 680 and it also looks good through walnut creek and through danville. we had an earlier minor crash

but it is backed up for the normal delay. and funnel richmond and 880 on the shoulder there is a crash there and across the bay if you are driving to redwood city, both 101 and 280 are good. they are slow from upper skyline down to 280, 6:49 let's go to steve. a mostly cloudy morning unless you are far away enough from the coast. clouds came roaring back in and it is almost sold out. it looks like it is still waiting to fill in and there is our system moving in. now if you don't have that fog, you will have fog and sun for a while as the system moves to the north. 45 to 50, temperatures spread 10 degrees more in the upper
