soon start gathering, tara? >> reporter: in less than two hours, people will come and be armed with long pants and sturdy shoes to resume ground searches for sierra lemar and now yesterday investigators scoured some creaks near sierra lemar's home. last week they steer rowed in on two area reserviors. she left to catch the morning school bus and today they he were focused on two more bodies of water. >> this resulted in everything from rock formations to trees below the surface levels. if there is any concern they will verify some of these surface areas. >> reporter: she disappeared

less than a mile from her home. her cell phone was found along with her purse and a shirt and pants were found inside of it. one of the items revealed new leads but they declined to reveal the nature of it. they said what happened is unbearable and they are asking more people to show up for searches and if you would like to participate bring a photo i.d. with you. a new fire in antioch, that started at an apartment building on significant more -- sick more drive. two people had to be taken to the hospital as a precaution. it took them 30 minutes to get that fire under control but six apartments were damaged by the fire and two were damaged by

. welcome back, published newly released photos in afghanistan posing with the remains of suicide bombers. now the photos are two years old, they show soldiers holding on to various remains. reportedly they have been holding tonight fingerprints and the army is launching an investigation showing copies of these photos. the l.a. times say they are provided by somebody who served in that same military division. allison burns is in our washington d.c. newsroom with the latest fall out on the prostitution scandal that is

in -- next update in about an hour, allison burns ktvu channel 2 morning news. they are taking steps for another mishap as asleeply pilot took a planet for another plane. they initiated a dive avoiding what he thought would be a collision. that officer just woke up from a 75 minute knap and he mistook the planet venus for a u.s. military aircraft. >> i was taken from my seat and violently thrown into the ceiling and fell back to the ground. >> all of this happened on 2011 in a flight to switzerland. but in a report that came out

on monday, it was pilot error, it was not turbulence as they first claimed. the first officer's knap lasted 35 minutes longer than rules allowed. we are learning about a deadly standoff, james shot and killed himself during a standoff that ended in a fire. now the s.w.a.t. team later found his body in the burned out condo. the standoff started when he shot and killed a sheriff's deputy and locksmith who arrived to evict him. he was heavily armed with 22 guns, more than 500 rounds of ammunition and a police scanner. he was also wearing a gas mask and bullet-proof vest. we are hearing about the berkeley student run newspaper. it is in financial trouble.

. it is a minor crash, we have a few minutes before we get to san francisco. time now 5:25, a san francisco supervisor wants to hustle a certain truck out of his neighborhood and that truck belonging to the hustle club has been in his community. the driver of the truck usually lives nearby and parks it a half block away from an elementary school. he has asked him to move the truck but it keeps reappearing and now he is working with the police for a permanent

solution. we spoke to the police and so far there is no comment. they are working on banning sales of home based sales for guns and ammunition. they are working to restrict the sales to commercial areas and they plan to back the meeting to try and sway the council's meeting but instead most of the people in attendance sided with the police chief. they will now join san pablo and richmond in banning home gun sales. reality star kim kardashian may be getting into politics. reportedly she wants to become the new mayor of the southern california city of glendale. she wants to take that office for about five years but in order for her to become mayor she first has to be elected to the city council there. glendale does not have an actual mayor here based on the majority vote to the city

lemar. whose dna, the sheriff's department is very vague about the evidence turned up but that's about what they will be looking for, dna, evidence and clues as to what happened to sierra lemar. they are looking in ponds between san jose and morgan creek and last week they zoned in on two area reservoir. her -- reservoirs. police found her cell phone and they discovered her pants and shirt inside her purse. one of the items revealed new results but they declined to tell us about the results. >> it would be too early to say they have a person of interest because we are not there yet but there is some leads to does require some follow up and they are hoping it does result into something significant. >> 15-year-old sierra lemar

they have jurisdiction over the island because the fair lawns are now considered the city of san francisco. they have already interviewed two of the survivors and they plan on interviewing this. new photos from the coast guard stranded on the rocks. coast guard has suspended the search and completed its preliminary investigation and it is now up to san francisco police to determine exactly what happened. >> our role is to find out if it was mechanical, nature related or if it was human error that caused this tragedy. >> the only people who really know what happened were the people on the boat and the skipper on the boat. >> some people are questioning why the crew decided to continue with the race. at least a dozen boats dropped out because of the treacherous conditions. well residents were hoping

this morning dave? >> we still have some doubled park spots, as you drive west, 880 is not all that bad 880 in oakland north and southbounded a good clip if you are driving on the exit. and you will see a rather large back up at the toll plaza, backed up for 15 minutes and it looks good once you make it on to san francisco. we have high clouds in place also some fog and i just tweeted all of those out in line because they are bundled up. so for a few it will be a cool day and inland temperatures are starting to bump up, fog cloud, high pressure will eventually

warm up, they are not just looking at the web calm overlooking san jose. so we are in most he will shakes. they are pretty good and i have seen gusts up to 25 miles per hour some of the higher elevations of marin county and in mt. diablo gusting to 31, it is not breaking news but still gusting to 31 and there is still an on shore push. you can see the bow in the clouds, that is a sign they are pushing to our area. we have an on shore push with a westerly breeze, patchy fog and clouds, i still think there will be patchy fog and probably a breeze out of the west and that will not die down tomorrow and into friday.
