don't know. we also don't know whose dna evidence it is. it will be need be further analysis as the lab to be 100% accurate. volunteers will be launching out from burnett elementary. investigators with the sheriff's office will comb the waters of two more reservoirs this morning looking for anything suspicious. >> they start to do sonar imagery and if anything comes up, they will send in the divers below the areas to kind of ver foy these air -- verify these areas. >> reporter: sierra lamar disappeared march 16th of the her cell phone was found less than a mile from her home after

a presidential trip to colombia could have compromised the safety of the president. ktvu's alison burns in our washington, d.c. newsroom with new information about what may have been in those hotel rooms. alison? >> reporter: there are several reports this morning that the secret service agents had the president's schedule in their homes when prostitutes were there. ha would be a major security breach. 11 agents and ten members of the military including five army -- green but rays were allegedly involved -- berets were allegedly involved. some of the women were admitting they were prostitutes. others say they met them at a bar. the agents in charge of protecting the president lucked out that the women were not working for a terrorist organization, this man says. >> they could have compromised security, themselves, they could have been killed, they would could have been drugged. they could have had information

burned-out condo. police say it started when he shot and killed a sheriff's deputy and a locksmith who arrived to evict him. investigators say he was heavily armed with 22 guns. more than 500 rounds of ammunition and a police scanner. he was wearing a gas mask and a bulletproof vest. a fee hike takes effect to go from san francisco to alcatraz. for adults, the cost is now $28. that includes the audio tour. the national park service says this is the first increase in three years. the price hike does not affect any previously sold tickets. well, facebook's board of directors said they didn't find out the company was buying instagram until one day before the news became public. foob founder told the board he worked out the deal for the

there will be a hearing about the fate of uc berkeley's student-run newspaper. the "daily californian" is in financial trouble. one measure asked students to pay $2 per semester to keep the paper running. but the student body president shot down that idea saying it would violate uc rules which ban fees for independent organizations. today's hearing will decide whether the student-body president had the right to make that decision. students at stanford will be paying an average of $55,000 to attend classes next year. but you can now enroll in some online stanford courses for free. two stanford professors have created classes that are just like being in class. there are deadlines and

we're following developing news this morning. two and a half hours ago, the "los angeles times" published newly-released photographs of u.s. troops in afghanistan posing with the remains of suicide bombers. rene marsh is in washington, d.c. with reaction from the pentagon this morning. rene? >> reporter: good morning. well, the "l.a. times" releasing those photographs, a short time ago, despite calls from the department of defense not to. we've obtain -- obtained one of the photograph and it's disturbing. that being said, you can see soldiers posing with a mangled body. we've not independently determined the authenticity of this image. the "l.a.

times" obtained -- according to the "l.a. times" the photos point to a break down in leadership and discipline that he believes compromised the safety of the troops. he says this represents a serious error in judgment by several soldiers who have acted out of ignorance. and unfamiliarity with the u.s. army values. now, they are defending their move in attempts to get a response from the soldiers involved. but they still felt it necessary to release the photos. here is a quote from the editor of the "l.a. times. --

stocks are opening lower after a mostly strong start to the week. they are being dragged down again by concerns about the debt crisis in europe. spain says the level of bad loans are at an 18-year high. taking a rive look -- live look at the big board. the dow is down 24. it's come back a little bit. it was down over twice that earlier. the nasdaq is down 2, s&p is dunn 2. yahoo!'s stuck is bucking the trend. it's up 2.5%. yesterday, the sunnyvale based company posted higher profits than wall street had forecast. new ceo scott thompson said yahoo! has been trying to do too much. a new study shows that women of all age, races, education levels and ethic levels earn less than men.

the worst says in 2010, u.s. women earned an average of just under $37,000 a year for full- time work. men earned almost $48,000. that means female workers earned just 77% of what men made. it's interesting, the numbers are slightly better here in california where women earned 84% of what men did. new information in petaluma about a murder-suicide that happened last weekend. the "press democrat" reports that kimberly conover tried to to get a restraining order against her husband but the judge denied her request. she went to her lawyer's office and that's when kevin conover killed her and then himself. this is a photo of a 5-year-

old german shepherd named ingo. back in february, he was rescued from the home of a 15- year veteran of the police department. the spca says ingo was starving. his stomach was killed with rocks and dirt. well, later this morning, the crews will be on the water drying -- trying to free that gray whale you are talking about. yesterday, they tried for hours, tried to get it free. they managed to loosen some of that line before it just got too dark outside. they also attached some large buoys to the whale to help them find it again this moving. late last night, after three hours of debate, the napa city council voted in favor of a high school student's idea to create a monument to local troops killed in iraq and afghanistan. dozens of veterans showed up to show support for the monument.

activists in syria say government forces are attacking a rebel stronghold violating a week-old cease-fire. all of this despite the fact that united nations observers are now in syria. the britain-based syria for human rights say the government resewelled the attack on the city of homs. the u.s. and the nato allies are opening up a plan to withdraw foreign troops from afghanistan. this is the meeting place in -- place in brussels this morning. combat is due to end in 2015. you can see some of the arrivals here. the goal of the meeting is to shift to an afghan military lead in the combat operations -- offerations by the middle of next year -- offerations by the middle -- operations by the middle of next year.

a lawyer for osama bin laden's three widows and their nine children says the family is expected to be deported from pakistan to saudi arabia later today. the family has been in detention in pakistan ever since the u.s. raid that killed osama bin laden almost a year ago. two of the wifes are from saudi arabia. the third is from yemen. still mott -- it's still not clear why they are all being sent to saudi arabia. a bay area rapper suspected in ha fatal valentine day's shooting shooting has turned himself into police. he's being held without bail after surrendering yesterday. police identified him in the shooting death of daniel la shawn stevens. atlantis -- police say he has a history of arrests around the

8:01. well, the overnight fire in antioch is being investigated. this one started last night at about 9:00 at an apartment building on sycamore drive. two people were taken to the hospital as a precaution. firefighters say no one was seriously hurt. it took about 30 mines to let those flames under control. but six of the apartments were damaged by the fire and two were damaged by smoke. that fire is still under investigation. the family of oscar grant has reached a deal with a hollywood film company to make a movie about the controversial police shooting. octavia spencer, she won an academy award for best supporting actress in the movie "the help." reportly she's in negotiations to star as oscar grant's mother in the movie called fruitvale.

if convicted, he would fate the death penalty. investigators in sacramento county are collecting dna from middle school students to try to find the person who killed a 13-year-old girl. jessica was found beaten, strangled and stabbed to death near her school. investigators believe she was killed by someone she knew. a handful of teenagers from her school have been swabbed for dna as part of the investigation. some parents are upset because they did not give consent. authorities say they do not need parental content to obtain a dna swab. a 3-year-old in martinez is on the mend this morning after being mauled by her family's pit bull. last friday, the girl was visiting her grandmother when her parents say she got in the dog's face. they say she must have stepped on the dog's injured foot which caused the dog to attack. the girl suffered a fractured cheekbone but is expected to rekoch. the family in-- recover.

san francisco muni just approved two very controversial proposals that could affect young riders as well as some drivers. the first one allows low income children to ride muni for free. the 22-month-old pilot program will begin in august. some critics argue that muni should use the money for maintenance and meeting service standards instead. the second proposal will end free metered parking on sundays. now, if that's approved by the board of supervisors, that would begin in january. 7:37. we want to check in with sal. >> yesterday we had kind of a terrible commute this wednesday. the last hour has not been great. let's take a look at 280.
